Does anyone know how long it takes for the apps to update. I received my RFE a week ago today via the new website, but neither the old app or new app have updated. They both still say case received. I guess it doesn’t really matter since the website is updated but i was just curious.

If you got an update on the new site it's highly likely the old site and the app will never show that update.

My case finally left the NVC today. It says.. and where do I check my interview date??

"Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center. "

I believe that's just a glitch as they process K1s as IV (when they do provide the date) when they are actually NIV.  Ours says the same thing and we scheduled the interview ourselves days ago.  So I know they didn't provide us with a date.

I don't like seeing that.. I read on one of the forums that they recently went through a large lay off of employees at USCIS and I would hate to have this be the trends in order to start to "limit" applications from going through in a timely manner. I could be completely wrong but it is a bit unsettling when you see the trends from the past year or even 6 months

I don't think it's a trend.  A few months back it was taking 2 months to get out of the NVC, then suddenly it was back to around 2 weeks.   You gotta remember that USCIS is part of Homeland Security whereas NVC/Embassies are part of the State Department.  Time frames at one stage really doesn't relate to another.  The way I see it, if they're waiting for large backlogs before they ship cases out, then they must be getting pretty full by now.  So we'll see.....

Just to clarify, if I fill it out for her and i'm in the states I can still submit it? Or when you say "it's being done in the country where the interview will take place," do you mean the computer she is actually filling it out on needs to be in that country, or rather just that country is selected when filling out the DS-160?

You can fill it out for her here, but then you need to save it and have her submit it in her country.

I just got my NVC Case# today. Did you wait for your status to be "Ready" until scheduling interview or did you just schedule it as soon as your got your case#? I know you got your case# this week which is why i'm asking.

The Embassy in Manila does not require a wait to schedule an interview, but every embassy is different on that.  Our case is still at NVC right now.

Congratulations to both of you!!! My fiance is also in the Philippines and we are about two weeks behind your NOA2 date June 1st.

We are trying to estimate the timing of our wedding in Colorado!

My question is how booked up are the interviews in the Philippines?

Are they booked up one month from today?

From what my fiancee saw today and what her friend had from a few months ago, it seems like usually a month out is what they have open.  There is the possibility of moving up to a sooner date if someone cancels, I know some people check every day to see what has opened up.  But usually you'll be looking at around a month for openings.

This may sounds silly, but do I need to call the NVC or can I just wait until I hear from my embassy?

I just feel feel like it’s better for my mental health to push it to the back of my mind, and every time I call and am told it’s not there, it feels like such a let down.

Do I need the case number ASAP or can I just wait for the embassy to contact me?

NVC sends the petitioner a letter with the case number after they send it to the embassy.  No need to get it any sooner if you don't want to, some just like to get a head start on things,

I really hope so. I've learned through this whole process that nothing is predictable. Thanks.

I talked with the same guy a few days ago.  The 8 weeks thing is really for non K1s; that is other visa types which require more processing on their end.  Literally all they do with the K1s are give them a case number and ship them off to the embassy.  Mine got received and the case number on the same day, most have it within 24 hours or so.  Call them tomorrow night and you should be set.

So I just got off the phone with the NVC office and they received our case, but no case number yet. Took 23 days from NOA2 response to NVC case received (but again, no case# yet). "Gilbert" told me it could take 8 weeks to get a case number. Can anyone say how long it takes to get the case number because that estimate is ridiculous and I don't want to believe it.

You'll have it tomorrow.  They just cover their bases.

  10. So we just got our NVC number and my fiancee went to pay for interview.  When she got home he noticed that on the receipt, the bank misspelled her last name.  She went back and told them and they said that it happens all the time and it will not be an issue with the embassy.  They circled the error on the receipt and the cashier signed it.  Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?  She doesn't really trust the bank and she's really freaking out about it.  Thanks!

  11. 3 weeks and still not at NVC yet.  Interestingly enough, the guy I talked to today not only said it can take up to 6 weeks for USCIS to send the case, but then it can take NVC up to 8 weeks to process the case.  But he did add that with K1s they basically don't do anything other than assigning the number and send it to the embassy; not news to anyone here but still nice that he added that in.  Frustrating that things seem like they might have slowed down, but I'm not worried.  The longest wait is still over, so I'm all good.

That's great! Two weeks earlier than expected! I'm 1 week new to the group, would you be able to explain the process of how the forced interview date came about? Did your fiance receive packet 3 and then along with that came the interview date he HAD to take?

Every Embassy handles it differently.  Best is to go to your country's portal here and see how they handle the process.

  13. Wait, I'm confused now.  My fiancee is 21.  We were under the impression she would not need a letter from parents for the CFO as she's coming to the states to get married and not in the Philippines.  Does she need to get a letter from her parents now too?!?
