Interview in NY office yesterday (NOA Date 10 Sept 2018)

Was waiting for 2 hours before being called into the interview. It was a nerve wrecking wait as people who got there after us were being called before us.. couldn't work out their system!

The interview went very smoothly, the interviewer we got couldn't have been nicer and even made a few jokes throughout the interview. I didn't need medical exam because I did it for the K1. Interviewer also stated because we already went through the K1 she wouldn't have a lot of questions for us regarding our relationship. The only questions asked were..
What is your wife's full name?
    Her profession?
    Where is she from?
    Her birth date?
    Her fathers name?
Where does she have a checking account?
What is your husband's full name?
    Where is he from?
    His birth date?
    His mother's name?
Where does he have a checking account?

One thing I was missing that she asked for was a letter from my job proving my employment. I had brought documentation from my job with health insurance info on it because I have listed my husband as my beneficiary. Since it had the company header on it she accepted that as sufficient evidence.

At the end she said she couldn't tell us if we were approved and that we would be put through one last background check. We went for a celebratory lunch after and within an hour my USCIS App showed card was being processed. WOHOO!! So much relief. Cant wait to have the card in my hands  🤩

OMG I had just checked the app and website not half an hour ago, and then the message above, after reading, prompted me to look again.  And it said that the interview was scheduled today!  OMG I'm freaking out!  Any idea how long it will take to get the letter for the interview date?
    I can't believe it!

Yep, we filed for AOS on 19 June 2018.  Husband had biometrics appt on 9 July 2018, review completed 20 July, and 25 July 2018 "Case ready to be scheduled..."  He received his EAD/AP card on 24 October 2018.  We were getting monthly texts saying "the last time they took action on case was 18 July 2018" but have not received that since 3 July 2019.  Even on one of their sites when I click for status it doesn't give any information.
The main issue at the problem is the EAD/AP renewal.  He called USCIS back in the spring since we saw they were taking a long time then.  They said you could not send in a renewal more than 120 days before it expires.  So we waiting to send it in until early July, and it was received 12 July 2019.  We know the EAD is automatically extended for a certain amount, thankfully for his employment.  But he travels with his job and the AP doesn't seem to have the same extension.  I feel like they're trying to trick people into thinking it's okay to leave and then not letting them back in.  His EAD expires 16 Oct 2019 and he is meant to be abroad for a work event.  We researched it all night and today he rang USCIS.  After finally getting through they told him as of today the renewals are taking another 4.5 months - March 2020 - from when he sent in the renewal.  This is crazy.  We have tickets to go visit his family at the new year as well - no idea what will happen then.  This could hurt his job, and our financial stability for a start.  USCIS is out of control.  I've read reports they are taking employees and sending them to work with ICE instead, as well as all the other roadblocks they are throwing at us for attempting legal immigration through all the correct channels.  On his call with USCIS today they said that they would file an "expedited request" for two reasons, one financial hardship and the other being a "USCIS error" - that he was told by USCIS that he could not file a renewal earlier.  They said he should hear something in five business days if it has been approved or not.  What I don't understand is, it's a renewal, his biometrics were reviewed and approved again in July, so why is it so bloody difficult to take care of this?
Sorry I am rambling I am so frustrated and upset about the whole situation, his job, losing money on our planned trip to visit his family, etc.
Has anyone else had this happen recently?

    Afternoon All,
just a quick update on our status.. today was our interview @ 1pm, we arrived at 12:15 and was called in around 1:15. We walked into the officers office where we were told not to sit until we agree to tell the truth . Then we sat down and the officer said at this time he will Invite us to give any additional evidence and supporting documents to show we have an ongoing marriage. We presented pictures of the last year together at various times, bank statements, car insurance, health insurance, life insurance showing my beneficiaries. He then asked us to tell him about our relationship/ marriage. When we met, got engaged and married. How was our wedding day. Who attended was it a big ceremony or little. He then took the pictures and asked us to explain who was in them and what was the event or location. He also went over the yes and no questions that were on the application. He then advised that everything looked great and he’s approving our application to allow 3 weeks to get the card in the mail. He then asked if we have any questions. Then told us to have a nice day and congrats total time of interview was approximately 15-20 minutes . 🎉🍾 thank you god this chapter is over for now. To all that’s waiting hang in there your day is near. ... sorry for any grammatical errors just me typing excitedly while on the way home.

Hey everyone. Brooklyn based, filed I-485 on 6/4/2018, ready to be scheduled for interview since 7/25/2018. Yesterday we received notice that an interview has been scheduled. We have not gotten the actual letter yet though so I don't know when and where. But this is a pleasant surprise and in the best case scenario, I'm able to receive the GC before 9/19/2019 which is when I'm due to explain to my employer how the 6 month EAD extension works  Would be excellent to just get to skip that step!

    Hi folks ,
i just want to share this news . Some of you probably read about it , but the attached one is the updated one.
USCIS Announces Measures to Reduce N-400 and I-485 Processing Times
    08 Jul 2019
Processing times at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have long been a point of concern. And the Trump Administration’s efforts to implement roadblocks in the legal immigration system have only exacerbated the situation. Since the last fiscal year of the Obama Administration, the overall USCIS processing times have increased dramatically. Notably, processing times for applications to register permanent residence or adjust status (form I-485) and applications for naturalization (form N-400) have nearly doubled.
The USCIS is now taking steps to improve processing times for I-485 and N-400 applications. Unfortunately, as part of these efforts, the USCIS appears poised to make the application process more inconvenient for some applicants.
USCIS Announces Measures to Reduce Processing Times
In announcing efforts to decrease processing times, the USCIS attributed the N-400 and I-485 backlogs to a greater-than-expected volume of cases; moreover, the increase in cases has hit some USCIS field offices harder than others, resulting in disparities in processing times.
The USCIS now will be redistributing these case types more evenly across field offices. The USCIS indicates that, as cases are shifted to balance workloads, some applicants may have to appear for in-person interviews at field offices outside their normal respective jurisdictions. Applicants still, however, will be able to appear for biometrics appointments at the application support center nearest to them.
    Unforeseen Consequences
Though the USCIS’s measures may prove effective in decreasing processing times for forms N-400 and I-485 on paper, the aforementioned disadvantage to applicants must be considered, as well. Applicants who are scheduled to appear for interviews at field offices outside of their normal jurisdictions will be required to make appropriate travel arrangements. While the USCIS has not provided any specifics, the hope is that interviews scheduled outside an applicant’s normal jurisdiction will only be scheduled at field offices that are within reasonable commuting distance.

To vote leave because you don’t like immigration would be even more hypocritical because you’re now trying to immigrate! So it’s ok for you to go elsewhere for a better life but not others? Yeah, that makes sense...

Half ranting half asking! Should I get a lawyer involved?

I'm now having nightmares about never getting my travel doc and missing both my best friends and brothers weddings in early Oct and Nov. I know I have time but so far everything has worked at snail pace with USCIS. My husband wants to get a lawyer involved. Is there any point?! I've just heard so many times their input doesn't help. Our congressman says he can't do anything for us because there's no major emergency to travel. I'm just so angry because I did everything right, the only reason why I don't have AP document is because of a mistake made by USCIS.

Here's my backstory: My AP was approved in March but my EAD wasn't approved until May. I expected to receive a combo card for work and travel but I received employment authorisation card with "Not Valid For AP" printed on it. Calling USCIS they said I should have gotten a travel doc within 30 days of AP approval but there records show it was never sent. Put in an inquiry, the 30 days passed last week, I got speaking to Tier 2 and they said they have contacted my office and said I should have a reply within 2 weeks... it's been 1 week, I'm not feeling confidant. Every time I make an inquiry they have never replied in the time they say they will!!
