I filed on 9/14/2021. But I wasn’t able to file a case inquiry online. Did you use the “missing notice” route to get the 48 months extension?

I need LIN to be nudged to either 1) forward my A-file to my local office since I’ve already done my N400 interview or 2) just approve my I-751 so the officer that interviewed me can approve my N400 🤪

I did use that route. Received a reply back they would get back to me in a month. Who knows if it nudged my case but don’t think it hurt.

  2. My wife filed for ROC in September of 2021 and received the 24 month extension letter. The original green card expired on December 2nd of this year. Today we made a trip up to Canada thru a land border.  First trip out of the US since the expiration of the original green card. We got pulled into secondary and were initially told there had been unauthorized use of her Nexus card. In the end what the real problem was, is the expiration of the green card was flagged in the system. Initially was surprised Canada would care since it’s a US immigration thing not a Canadian one, the Green card isn’t a supporting document like a DL or Passport and she’s a Canadian citizen. Just wondering if anybody else has had this happen to them. Also wondering if I should go into the nexus account and update the green card to a 2023 expiration. I guess it’s true since have extension letter and you can update the date with out the need of going into an enrollment center. I may have answered my own question but never seen it addressed here before on this forum. Thanks

  3. Just some recent experience info. Crossed this Sunday at Sumas WA. The Abbotsford-Huntingdon location. Used the ArriveCAN app which they noted after looking at our nexus cards. Only thing needed to see was our Covid tests which had done for free at CVS the previous Thursday. Only extra thing though, we were randomly selected for a day 1 take home Covid test. It had to be done within 24 hours of arrival and sent back within 48 hours of arrival. You must use the MS teams app, video both ways so they can walk you thru the process and see if you’re doing it right. All in all not too bad.

    Hello everyone!

Just wanted to let you know we had our interview yesterday in Seattle Washington. Our appointment was at 2:30, we got there at two. Everything went by so easily, the staff was so easy to talk to, in the waiting room was plenty big enough. One thing I noticed was everyone had an attorney except for us

Anyway, in the interview they just went over the form originally filled out. Ask my husband how many kids we wanted. And pretty much how we met, she didn’t want to explain much more. She said they have to input the information and they would let us know. I was worried since I didn’t get any change of status.

But our power was out at our house and it came on at 3 AM and I checked and it had been updated to card being produced!!

    Congratulations,

Happy to hear things went so smoothly. Our interview is scheduled for November 6th in Seattle.

So I called USCIS, they said I processing times for Advance work authorization is 4-5 months and approval for my local office is 8-11 months.. (my local office is Seattle)

I hate not having any idea on whats going on. I really wanna start working.. anyone else filing through Seattle?

We are going through the Seattle office also. Biometrics were done mid July. No updates on site. Still just shows finger print fee received.

In CA .. our electric company requires a ss#.  Our cell phone company, AT&T, required SS# for new service.   Bank of America requested a SS# when opening a new account.  Direct-TV required a social security # for new service.  My wife's employer required her to complete a W-4 and I-9 tax form each requesting her social security #.   COULD we have argued in each scenario and demanded to know what options were available without a ss#?   Sure - but we decided to get a soc sec card and be prepared for life.    I guess we're odd that way.

A social security number is used for working and collecting benefits it doesn’t prepare you for life. Good luck with that.

    1) Open a bank account

    2) Apply for Utility Services (or be added to an account)

    3) Drivers License Application

    4) File a tax return

    5) One vital form of identification

All situations needing a social security #.   Again - my advice - get your SS# as soon as you can.

I realize all situations are different but didn’t need a SSN to be added to my utility accounts, open a bank account or get a drivers license. We also didn’t need it to be added to my health insurance or the lease at my apartment. Just applied for it on the EAD when filed for adjustment of status. I really don’t understand the urgency to run and apply for one.

Thanks for this update. Did they ask for anything that wasn't on the usual Packet 3 list that you can find online? Or basically just an original (certified copy for like death/divorce certificates, police certificate, court records, I-134) and a photocopy of everything? Also - what is the best to use for "Evidence of Petitioner's Domicile in the US".

Also in Packet 3, certain things that don't apply - do you still just put a check mark next to it (i.e., if neither has military records). Also question regarding the marriage certificates - do they mean the marriage certificate for the divorce? I hope they really are ok with just the certified copy of the final divorce decrees.

Ps. you said you didn't wait for Packet 3 - did you just wait until you got your NVC # and then you emailed Packet 3 per the online instructions? Did they acknowledge that version or did you have to re-submit once you got Packet 3. Also, how did they do the interview process? Did Packet 4 give you instructions of where to do it online or they just emailed your date?

They didn’t ask for anything that wasn’t on the checklist. When the date for the interview became closer we received an email reminding us what documents were needed. It was actually shorter then the checklist. For domicile proof I had a copy of my lease. Never asked for it. Same for ongoing proof of relationship. Never asked for it.

For the DS160 checklist.  She just signed the bottom. Didn’t check each line. What didn’t apply we didn’t have. Marriage certificates weren’t needed. We both ordered divorce certificates from our perspective localities. A one page document was just easier to deal with.

The affidavit of support and supporting documentation was important. Only wanted 2017 taxes. I had more but wasn’t needed.

It was after the NVC had forwarded it to Montreal that I downloaded packet 3. Packet 4 does I think tell you what website to use to book your interview. We had a couple dates to choose from. Even changed the date online after some things came up. Wasn’t a problem.

  9. Hello everyone,

253 days since our NOA1. We were approved yesterday at the interview in Montreal.

Concerning the marriage certificates, we did bring them but were told by everbody was completely unnecessary. Which they were. Divorce certificates were needed and taken. Many of the documents listed on DS-160 just weren’t needed. But better safe than sorry.

I never waited for them to send me packet 3.

    Hello!

Fellow August/Canadian filer here. We got our NOA2 on February 15, number from NVC on March 2 and then our case left NVC on March 13 and our status changed to READY on March 20. How long did it take for the Montreal Consulate to email you your Packet 3? We still haven't received anything from them and I was getting a little paranoid because I'd read previous filers hadn't ever received anything and eventually just found the Packet 3 online and sent it in themselves. I've also heard wait times for interviews in Montreal were really long but I'm so glad to see you guys got in pretty fast! I haven't seen many Canadian's on here so its nice to have someone with a similar timeline.

    TIA

    Hello,

We eventually received packet three and four by email but moved ahead without them since we found online. Once we sent in the barcode from the DS-160, checklist and copy of passport we scheduled the interview the next day. We had two options about a month out. It’s been pretty easy and fast compared to the wait for the NOA2.

  11. Hello everyone,

just an update from a fellow August filer. We received our February 13th NOA2 approval in the mail and since then everything has been email. The Montreal Consulate seems to use the electronic processing which I feel has been faster at least in our situation. Our case number was provided by the NVC in less than two weeks. When signing up for our interview we were provided 2 dates to choose from. Both Wednesdays by the way. We now have our interview scheduled for the end of April and are super excited.

The help and and support we gained from reading this website has been invaluable.

    Thanks everyone.
