    Yep. 2nd extension letter.

Just glad it was not a request for further evidence.

Got the 24 month extension today. the original letter said vermont service center, but the outside envelope had a Missouri address.

Also interesting that I was traveling with the 18 month extension and entered the US *yesterday* with the 18 month extension and the expired GC. The 24 month extension was already issued a week ago; i just got to open it today because I was traveling outside the country. This means that both 24 and 18 month extension letters are valid for travel, i.e. the new letter does not invalidate the old one. In the rare case someone loses one extension letter while traveling, the other seems valid for travel and entry to the US.

We just got this 24 month extension letter too. What is this? We were so nervous because with informed deliver we could see something was coming -- I was sure it was an RFE (biometrics already waived back in September). Was definitely not expecting this -- why are they sending these out? I'm assuming it means it's going to be a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG wait for the 10 year GC?

We should all get it sooner or later, no need to worry. In early September USCIS sent out this message via their "U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Daily Digest Bulletin" newsletter, I quote:

USCIS Extends Evidence of Status for Conditional Permanent Residents to 24 Months with Pending Form I-751 or Form I-829 09/03/2021 Starting Sept. 4, 2021, USCIS is extending the time that receipt notices can be used to show evidence of status from 18 months to 24 months for petitioners who properly file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status. We are making the change from 18 to 24 months to accommodate current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829, which have increased over the past year.
Conditional permanent residents who properly file Form I-751 or Form I-829 will receive a receipt notice that can be presented with their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card (also known as a Green Card), as evidence of continued status for up to 24 months past the expiration date on their Green Card, while their case remains pending with USCIS.
Additionally, we will issue new receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents who properly filed their Form I-751 or Form I-829 before Sept. 4 and whose cases are still pending. Those receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 24 months past the expiration date on their Green Card.
As a reminder, conditional permanent residents who plan to be outside of the United States for a year or more should apply for a reentry permit by filing Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, before leaving the country. For more information on International Travel as a Permanent Resident, see our Green Card page.

I am also LIN. I looked at the google sheet and I can't find anyone from LIN who got biometrics waived until back in May. Looks to be about 2 months from NOA until biometrics waived in LIN. So I'm thinking mid/end of September for us??

My biometrics was waived. My case status online changed to Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview. I guess this means our interview was not waived and we will need to wait for our interview to be scheduled. Boo.

Another SRC here, another biometrics waiver received today dated 8/11. For the fee we gave them you would think they'd do a better job of formatting the letter so half the text isn't visible through the envelope window... that's probably too much to ask. 🤭

The below screenshots are not for the faint of heart. For everyone’s (including myself) app being routed to Potomac Service center, I just checked their processing times and this is what it shows as of 5mins ago🤦‍♂️

It went back 10 yearssssss😂😂😂😂 … I can’t even cry because it’s useless and have rather lost it and laughing out loud at the everlasting drama in our life. Hopefully, the timeline would change and they have hired more people to process cases faster.

  19. Thanks
americaninlove reacted to USC4SPOUSE in I-751 July 2021
If your spouse came on CR-1, then the petition will get routed to the National Benefits Center (MSC). There is no way to know their processing times as USCIS does not include the NBC on the processing times website.
If your spouse adjusted status from k-1 or any other visa, then your location determines where the file goes. You are in Pennsylvania. Most likely, USCIS will route your file to the Vermont Service Center.
Yes, each Service Center has its own pace. Right now, Texas is the fastest. I think Vermont is second.

It is illegal for employers to re-verify eligibility for employment. If needed, he can show the NOA/extension letter. However, his employer should know not to ask for it. I can tell you that HR did not ask my husband for anything. If he starts a new job, then he would show the expired green card and extension letter.

You need to check with the DMV in Philadelphia. They should accept the extension as proof of legal presence. Some states will grant a driver's license for 18 months and others will grant it for longer.
  20. Thanks
americaninlove reacted to Locito in I-751 July 2021
Yep, this process sucks... I don't know if your spouse came to the US with K-1 or CR-1 visa, but RoC sure is an annoyance nonetheless.

Someone more experienced may be able to comment more in depth, but the consensus on VisaJourney is that since a couple of years back all CR-1's will be interviewed, and are routed to National Benefits Center in Missouri (MSC). K-1's are either interviewed or if evidence is strong enough, interview can be waived by USCIS doscretion.

I just got my biometrics appointment coming up (had to reschedule because of trip to Europe, urgh), and we sent my package back in November last year. I believe @Lucky Cat is one of the most patient ones, having been waiting for RoC completion since early 2019 😞

NOA1 gives you nowadays an 18 month GC extension, and if you are not finished with RoC after that, you can schedule an InfoPass appointment at a local USCIS Service Center to get a I-551 in a passport.

While the proof of legal status may expire, the conditional permanent resident's legal status doesn't just because the document has expired. It is illegal for employers to reverify work authorization, or to deny employment because the green card is about to expire. No need to inform employer of expired green card, If being hired to a new job, however, your spouse would need the expired GC and NOA1. USCIS form I-9 also provides option to use valid ID and Social Security Card for authorization if the latter is not restricted.

Someone else can hopefully provide information how the DMV operates in your state. I've seen on VJ that in some states a new ID/license is issued only for the validity of the NOA1. Here in CA I got a full five-year ID in 2019 although I only had a two-year GC.

Edit: Hopefully USCIS has picked up speed getting those NOA's out. Back in November it took a whole month and a half to get the NOA1. At the time USPS felt like a very unreliable option, so we just bit the bullet and sent my package by UPS 2-Day. At least you are sending your package with a plenty of time until the expiration of the GC.

I had my interview today between 1:30pm to 2:00pm mountain time.
My husband and I were allowed to go inside uscis 15 minutes to our interview time.

So the officer was a lady.
My husband was called first together with our immigration lawyer. After about 13 minutes later I was called to come in and my hubby was asked to leave the interview room.
The officer asked me to take an oath to tell the truth. After that the oath, she ask me to mention my legal name, asked of my DoB, my parents full name, where I was born, and when I arrived in US. Then, she went through the I-485 application questions (the yes and no questions) with me.
She asked if there are any redflags in my marriage.
Afterwards, she ask me to talk to her about my marriage life.
She asked where and when I met my hubby for the first time, asked if I have met my hubby's family members, places we have visited, which pet we have and its name, where we both work and how we go to work.

She later said she is going to do her reviews. But talk about 10 years green card since my marriage is over 2years.

So in all my interview went well and according to my immigration lawyer, he said the officer was looking for reasons to approve me. So i did well.
