How many years have you been an LPR prior to filing N-400?
Moved to the states in 2018. Applied for my N400 in Feb 2022.

Hi everyone so I submitted my N-400 in February. This week I got notice for interview in October in the USA. Military husband and I PCSd to a NATO base in Europe. We updated our APO address within 10 days of being here. Has anyone done their interview and oath ceremony abroad at a hub?
I did contact the military hotline. My interview has now been cancelled and I'm to wait 30 days for further information.
travelling to the states right now is really expensive. -

I have been in the US for only 9 months after I got my CR-1 granted.
After those 9 months, My husband and I have been living in Japan for 2.5 years under military orders and got my I-751 approved last year, and currently pending N-400.As long as you are in your husband's orders, time spent overseas counts as time residing in the US.
Check out my blog, I have plenty of documentation of my USCIS journeys while being a military spouse.
Thank you!
I appreciate your reply! Especially as you are going through it!
do you mind telling me what evidence you included with your N-400 application? -
Hi everyone.
I am the spouse of an active duty military service member. Came over on a K1 fiancé visa and now hold a green card as a lawful permanent resident.
if we are to get overseas orders- this could be classed as abandonment of lawful residency. Especially considering our assignment could be 2-4 years. However, I have read military members and their spouses are exempt from this.
if we are exempt does this mean we don't have to file for a re entry permit?
anyone been through this process?

Hello,
I mailed out ALL of my forms for AOS (green card) towards the end of May and USCIS received everything on the 31st of May 2018.
I've already went in for my biometrics and I have been waiting on my EAD for 5 months now. Has anyone else been waiting this long because I noticed the tracker doesn't get updated at all.
Hey!
Yes we filed ours ours at the start of June. We have received in the last few days an update saying ‘ready to be scheduled for interview’
we don’t know how long the wait will be for that. Currently no EAD or AP and we’re jusy shy of 5 months now too.

How long after ready to be scheduled for interview did you receive the interview notice in the post?

Is anyone else having trouble using the USCIS case status tracker? Is there a new website?

Why fraud? Just because you are married, doesn't mean you can't keep your own name.
Just apply in your maiden name first. The reason they won't issue you one in your married name is because your married name doesn't match the records in the DHS base for now. In all systems you are still Kate -maiden name- and not Kate -married name- as you haven't succesfully adjusted yet.I get that but to say I’m using a name which I’m not is not honest.
the AOS document let’s me tick a box for social security, has anyone else gone this route as oppose to the direct route?
Will it mean I get a social security in the same time as the normal route or will I have to wait until the adjustment is approved?

SSN is the fist thing a K1 applies for before you get married.
What you need for a Bank varies by Bank, DL varies by State.
I didn’t apply before hand as we were getting married so soon and it would have been more work to get my name changed then just wait to apply in my married name
20 minutes ago, Dutchster said:What did you bring with you and did you try to apply for your SSN in your married name?
Unless you have less than two weeks left, they will not issue you a social security and they will also not when you try to apply in your married name. You have not yet adjusted, so for DHS you are still in the system with your maiden name.
Go again. Take your I-94 and visa/passport with you and apply in your maiden name. The VJ guide here has a link to a PDF file here that you can print out that confirms you have all the rights for a SSN.Wouldn’t that be fraud seeings as I’m now married?

Did you apply for an EAD/work permit with your AOS? The AOS by itself does not allow you to work.
Yes I did apply for EAD.

Hello All,
So today I went to my local social security office to apply for social security.
Ive been in the country 28 days, we got married on the 14th May (we have our wedding certificate) and are about to adjust status.(applications being completed as we speak)
the lady in the social security stated that I cannot apply for social security until we’ve adjusted status (which can take up to 10 months maybe more)????
With all the research I’ve never heard of this happening and am frustrated now that I still can’t apply for a bank account or to get my drivers license.
Does anyone anyone know why this is? I have a valid I-94.

We’re actually in Gourmet Burger Kitchen now to celebrate and see a show later tonight in the West End.
Its sad that he is leaving tomorrow but I follow him in 18 days so I can handle it this time I think!
To warn you all UK peeps, they are now quoting 2-3 weeks for return of passport/visa - rather than 7-10 days...
I HOPE mine makes it - I fly on 13th hahahaha
but NO STRESS today - my thoughts are still with all those still waiting
Congratulations!

Let us know how you get on and an insight to what the London interview involves.
I'm sure you nailed it. 😁😁😁
My Interview for the New US Embassy in London was yesterday. 22nd February 2018
On walking around the building I was greeted by two hubs of armed security. Then my final pit stop was the south pavilion entrance where I went through air port style scanner and had a chat with the guards. They were all very pleasant people. You have to show you’re passport and confirmation letter for your appointment.
I then walked up to the building, staring up as I usually do in London to admire the architecture of the new building. It’s huge!!
Passing the receptionist in the lobby who advised me to take the lift to floor 3 then turn left twice. On exiting the lift there was a huge waiting room of people and a ping sound with people moving from seats to the booths. Fortunately the seating area I was directed to was left twice.
It was a small small seating area with fold down seats and several screens. The booths were big glass panels with people behind them.
The first time my number was called was for documentation where the guy put a pack of information together. I also gave fingerprints. I only waited 10 minutes to be called up.
He asked for:
confirmation of my name and date of birth then proceeded to ask for
1. Passport
2. Birth Certificate
3. Deed Poll
We then laughed about double barreled names as I took on my grandmas surname when she passed away and he wanted to know if I will change my name again when married.
The pack was put together and he asked me to take a seat and wait to be called for my interview.
Waiting patiently for my interview everyone that had theirs walked past with a smile on their faces bar two.
I waited a good 20 minutes. When I was called up I realised I was the last person in the room. I joked with the guy and said I’m glad you didn’t forget me. I proceeded to complement him on his vibrant shirt. He was very pleasant.
He asked me:
1. How did you meet your fiance
2. Is he still in England
3. How many times have you visited
4. Where is he now
5. When do you plan on marrying.
He typed lots lots of information down. Then proceeded to tell me the visa has been granted with a smile. I thanked him and he said allow 7-10 days to e contacted by the courier I chose for delivery.
Obviously on exiting the building I called my fiancé with the news.

lol Our dates are the same!
They received ours on the 17th also, and my fiance's interview is also the 22nd
Good luck to you!!
How exciting, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been a long journey. My fiancé and I can’t wait for our reunion as soon to be man and wife. He has Been on deployment for 6 months. By the time I get to see him again as we’re aiming for me to move late May it would have been 11 months 😱. It’s been the longest time we’ve spent apart. However, I’m glad his deployment was now and not when I move over. I think it’s going to take me a while to settle in.

If you got to the USCIS website they assist Military and Military families overseas. The USCIS comes to one of 4 hubs every 3 months to conduct interviews and ceremonies.
