Paatay Khan got a reaction from MyNameIsEarl in the stressful "Decision cannot yet be made about your application"
Holding your partner's hand/wrist/arm and leg is DV. If you sneeze in front of her is DV. If you cough in front of her is DV. If you pick your nose in front of her is DV. If you yell at her is DV, disagreeing with her is DV. Did I miss anything? Because anything could make your partner uncomfortable.

Paatay Khan got a reaction from Sellamalola in Did I violate the 90-day rule by AOS within 60 days of I-20 extension?
So all the attorneys who are warning/educating people about this rule are spreading a myth? I have lost faith in immigration attorneys from now on.

I was speaking in general, not necessarily first entry. And to answer the rest of your stance, please have a look at this...

Paatay Khan reacted to Going through in N400 Traffic Tickets
I think that's where people complicate things more (not you specifically, talking in general). Instead of "interpreting" the instructions to best suit one's needs/track of thought...just take the instructions literally. Take the questions on the application literally. Makes it more simple then. EVER means EVER...not "EVER, except under these circumstances..." by one's own "interpretation" of the question.
And, yes, they can question/scrutinize/deny for something outside of the statutory period. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't be denials of N400s for GCs not correctly approved years before. My own criminal incidents took place outside of the US more than 23 years ago, and a good 10 years BEFORE I became a LPR. The IO questioned me on it, in fact it was the first thing she started with immediately after swearing me in before my butt even touched the chair, and wanted updated documentation on it to look at.
Traffic tickets are not a barrier to becoming Naturalized....traffic violations are a minor issue compared to others, so people shouldn't become nervous about disclosing it on the forms. If something isn't disclosed on the form and it comes to light, then it can become a HUGE issue only because it can lead the IO to wonder what else was not disclosed, and lead them to further scrutinize the applicant on everything else. It's safer to disclose it, it's honest to disclose it, it won't lead to a denial for disclosing it. OP should be thankful all he has are traffic tickets

Paatay Khan reacted to Going through in Post Office or Passport Agency?
Since you're in NY, I would really recommend taking a trip down to Madison Square Station main post office located at 49 East 23rd Street between Lexington Avenue and Third Avenue.
Apart from being inside a beautifully historic building, they have a dedicated Passport Service Center near the back of the building (across from all the PO Boxes) where the agents are strictly there for passport services only, and really know their stuff w hen it comes to what's required, what isn't required, how to handle your documents for submission, etc. I've used them for my own US passport application, my daughter's first passport when she was an infant, (and then a later renewal when she was older) and also for renewing my husband's, etc. I had absolutely no qualms about dealing with them nor did I have any "uhm, do they really know what they are doing?" moments. They can also take your passport photos immediately if the ones you bring aren't up to standards/you don't have photos.
The line moves really quickly, and they are actually pretty nice too (which isn't something you can commonly say for NYC post offices).
Edited to add: I requested Regular Service (non-expedite), and received my passport back in 13 days. So you may want to try Regular Service if you're not traveling soon---you may get lucky and save yourself some money (unless you need it for upcoming travel plans).

Paatay Khan reacted to Loren Y in Post Office or Passport Agency?
Post office will probably be the cheapest as they can only charge you the actual fees. Passport agencies have a tendency to mark up prices quite a bit. Also I believe you need 2 photos, and I never added a copy of my driver's license. Most post offices can do photos and money order, and everything on site, so it will be the easiest also.

Paatay Khan reacted to Jack Jonas in N400 Traffic Tickets
Hey Sam, just created an account to thank you.
I have been following this forum for a while, and I'm tired of seeing so many people scaring others with made up information.
To others, U.S. won't revoke your citizenship just because you didn't mention a minor traffic ticket. This country is not a ridiculous dystopia, don't be scared of your government.

Paatay Khan got a reaction from Hoie in N400 Traffic Tickets
You don't need to disclose any traffic tickets that didn't involve drugs, injury to anyone and arrest. Or if the fine was less than $500. As long as those tickets were taken care of, you'll be fine. I know a lot of people who didn't have any issues whatsoever, at the interview doing that, including myself. Final decision is yours.

From what I know, one cannot adjust status thru another petitioner once arrived on a K1 thru the original petitioner. Once their status expires after the 90-day period, they have to return and begin K1 process with the new petitioner.

Paatay Khan got a reaction from LightDisplay in Interview Experience
Hello my fellow VJers,
I had my interview on 6/17. I applied under the 5-year rule and my interview was held at Long Island NY field office.
Arrived exactly 30 minutes prior to the time of the appointment. There were not many people that day so I was called in just 5 mins after what the time was stamped on the letter. An elderly lady announced my name, though she butchered it, I stood up and followed her to the back of the building in to a cubicle. After being sworn in, she asked me to have a seat. Took my both thumb impressions and asked me to look in to the camera for a photo. Confirmed my name, d.o.b and address. With a serious face, asked for my passport and green card. Skimmed thru my passport and asked about my foreign travel history and if I traveled abroad after I submitting my N400 app. I filed paper app although interestingly, it was converted into online app.
Then opened up a thick file and began asking about my marital status and a little bit about my divorce. She asked me if I had ever overstayed my visa to which I replied, Yes. She didn't seem to like that, and asked me if I was placed in removal proceeding and saw a judge for that. I said no, I was never in removal proceedings thus never went in front of a judge. She then admonished me that, you cannot violate your visa terms/conditions and go around the laws of this country with that serious face, again. She asked if I had been filing/paying my taxes on time to which I replied, Yes.
Then she went on with the Yes/No questions but before that, she asked me if I understood all the questions clearly and all the info entered on the app was true to my knowledge and understanding. I said yes, because I had filled out the app myself and knew each and every answer/info. I was confident, sat upright and made proper eye contact while answering all questions that were asked because I had nothing to hide or lie about.
Then she said she was going to conduct the civic test. Asked me 6 questions and I answered all of them correctly, to which she said, 'you have come prepared'. She was typing my answers into the computer. And then went on to English reading and writing portion. After that, she had me sign two things. I believe one was the oath of allegiance and the other was my basic info like name, d.o.b, address, marital status etc. She then printed out a paper N652 stating that I had passed my interview and was being recommended for approval. She told me you will get a letter in the mail about when and where to go for your naturalization ceremony.
I was overwhelmed with joy when upon hearing that. My glee had no limits. I exhaled my breath of satisfaction and thanked her for her time. She escorted me out towards the exit.
I wish everyone on here all the best with their journey. Godspeed!

OP and whoever reads this thread should come forward and share their experience.

Paatay Khan got a reaction from N400NYC in citizenship interview
It's not just about asylum cases, as per the attorney. In actuality people are getting faster interviews who filed in 2019. I have seen a few more examples of fast interview appointments such as the OP.

There is an attorney in NYC, Brad Bernstein, he stated that in a live Q&A session on youtube, when asked about cases filed in 2019. I would share it if I get to find it.

Paatay Khan reacted to Lenchick in Divorce while naturalization application pending?
It will definitely affect your naturalization. You need to be married to be eligible to apply on the base of three years. If you are going to get divorced then you need to wait and file for naturalization when you are a 5 year resident.
