Congratulations!! We too have been waiting since September and was starting to lose hope and  I will also be going to Montreal for the Interview once the NOA2 comes in so thank you for the review of the embassy! Its relieving to know we aren't the only ones biting our nails wondering why the long wait and also new member here this is such an informative community!

It’s been just over 10 months since first submitting for our K-1 and finally approved! It’s the best feeling updating your timeline on VJ. I did my interview in Montreal this week, so if anyone has any questions regarding the US Embassy in MTL, I wrote a review (http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=24314), but don’t hesitate to reach out! VJ has been extremely helpful so hoping to pass the help along!

simplexity reacted to Loki_Go in Experiences? K1 working for foreign company while waiting AOS
Hi, I did it. I never stopped working for my Canadian company when I moved to the US on a K1. I'm now on a conditional 2 year green card. It's entirely possible and yes, it's a grey area, but understand it is a risk. My employment never came up in my K1 interview but it certainly did in my AOS interview. The CO seemed to know I was working and Didn't ask me anything about it, but instead turned to my husband and asked. My husband and I decided long ago that if it ever came up we were going to be honest about it and so he was. The CO didn't seem to care and moved on to other questioning.

If you want more info about my experiences I welcome you to look through my previous posts. There's a lot of info I've given over the time, too much to try to repeat here.

In a nutshell: Taxes are complicated and expensive. I get paid in CAD into my Canadian bank. You may have to cash out some investments and/or particular savings accounts (like tax free ones) because non-residents cannot hold them.

There's a lot that goes into this, and don't expect your company to cover your butt. YOU need to look out for YOURSELF.

Hey guys! We just received our approval notice through the post 😁😁! NOA1 was September 5th and NOA2 was dated March 6th, it took sooo long to get there from when they posted it to today! The website still hasn't updated for us so definitely don't give up hope if you think you should have had yours by now 😊!

simplexity reacted to Chris and ZhiJia in (not legal) wedding ceremony prior to K1 visa interview
We chose to do this route for the sake of her family, since they would not be able to come to the US to attend a wedding here. We kept everything very private, and in family, nothing was shared on any form of social media, and even after the ceremony we referred to each other as fiancee. This was 100% a ceremony and not a wedding, no paperwork was signed, no legal minister performed the ceremony.
All of the photos were kept within the family, and stored digitally. No photos were presented to USCIS or the Embassy.
Her interview was on 04-05 and she was approved, visa in hand, plane flight booked.
Yes, We took a huge risk but for us it worked out, as others have stated it can be a big problem, so you need to weigh the risks of doing what you want to do.
