Dont worry about a shutdown. USCIS is fee based and will continue to work even if there is a shutdown.

Day 226. VJ Timeline moved to December 24th.
It is 6:00 in California and the adjudicators are taking showers and drinking coffee. Even they dont know what a great day this is going to be for some of us.
Never lose the faith. The process sucks but the reason for it is amazing. As yesterday was MLK DAY, I think we should honor him with a few appropriate quotes as we start a new week...
"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
"We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope."
Let's go get some approvals today!

ok cool, that makes sense... I wasn't sure if bene was sent anything from USCIS.. I drafted a letter to send USCIS informing them of my fiancé's address change, but if its not necessary I'm not sending it. we will wait until our case is with NVC, and I will have Jorge call his embassy in Rio to update the info. thanks for all your help @Naes

I'm going to do the same thing (we thought so naively back then I would have my passport back before I move on March 9 )
And this is what I figured out after checking all over VJ, happy to help

@KBA @Lisa & Jorge
I hope I'm tagging the right people about this, cause I couldn't find the posts.
When the address change is for the beneficiary, you don't need to update while it is in the USCIS.
You signed the petition at a date, and the information was correct for that date (if there was a mistake though that's different)
They don't usually send anything to the beneficiary by mail, so check around to see if your embassy sends anything.
You can update the info when it leaves NVC by calling or mailing your embassy, (beneficiary can do this too with the case number received from NVC and informing the embassy)

the confusion I feel about this is actually a type of confusion I have never experienced before in my LIFE. its becoming an addiction to long to know what is going on! I just cannot wrap my head around it. and I'm not okay with it, regardless of the action on my case, I'm body-deep in this mystery about june 6 filers (and this process as a whole) WHY IS JULY GETTING TOUCHED. I thank the Lord I received approval considering everything going on around me but I'm still involved and stand by all of you waiting and basically some JUSTICE on the situation... I still waited 7 months so I can relate. this is the most fruitiest of banana baskets I've come across.....

I called once a week after getting my NOA2 until we passed 6 weeks, then I called every day. I don't think it makes much sense to call very frequently in the beginning since you know they're taking a while.

Got our case number this morning! I'm on the west coast at the moment, so called from bed around 5am PST - had to scramble for a pen and paper when they asked me for the beneficiary's name (gave them the wrong birthday too, in my sleepy state...) They must have received and assigned the number yesterday, as they didn't have the file in the system when I called yesterday morning. 48 days from NOA2 notice date to NVC, so at least it seems that they're staying consistently slow from October/November/December and not slowing down further.
Wow, can't believe I'm saying this - time for my fiancé to schedule his medical and do the DS-160! I sent the I-134 back in November in my naiveté, so I think I'll redo it as it'll be pretty out of date by the interview. I think we're the first Kiwi case to make it through, so I can let all the other Auckland people know how things go @MarksMate @Kat&Joel (others I'm missing?)
