Sent mine july 6th, delivered to pheonix lock box July 9th.  Still haven't been charged or received enotification.  I'm worried for some reason ours was rejected.  I went over it multiple times to make sure everything was there, signed, and dated.  We were eligible to file starting June 18th so it wasn't sent too early.   Could they have rejected it if the affidavits of support were signed and dated before the eligible filing date?

Sent mine on the 9th, delivered on July 11th. Also haven’t been charged yet and I forgot to include G-1145 :(

Aww, thank you for the nice words and good wishes  Hope you get your approval soon!

Did they send you the piece of paper to check the box and send it back? If there's no specific space to sign, then I guess it's ok to do that wherever you see accurate, like in the down part of margins.

You can always ask someone else that was in the same situation. I know some people on March thread had forgotten to check a box too :)

Glad to see it's an easy fix, so hopefully you'll get approved soon after sending it back.

Yeah they sent a copy of the page with the missed checkbox. He signed somewhere there and then also on the other paper just in case 😂

We're mailing it first thing tomorrow and we're in california, so hopefully we'll see an NOA2 soon!

Congrats on your NOA2 btw! :)

Hi Dutchess , when you passed  the immigration , you told them you came here for visiting your fiancée? And did them ask you again when you pass the customs ?

I want to visit my fiancée too. I visited him in February last time when I passed the immigration there was no problem and they give me 6 months but when I went thought the customs they checked my luggage and asked me some questions and was surprised how can I get the B2 visa wile pending the K1 visa. But finally they let me in and trust me.  My fiancée did something wrong with the forms we didn't receive anything  (so we re do the K1 on May and got the first Notice NOA1 on June 1st. ) So for this time we are nervous because we got the real progress. Don't want to make anything bad for the K1.

I'm so happy you are in America now with your fiancé ! Have a nice trip there !

They asked me my reason for visiting in customs, yes! I figured being honest is always better and he just asked for my return ticket :) and asked how we met and how long we've been together and he even said 'Isn't that a little early to be getting married, you're still young'. I also mentioned that we are doing the K1 visa and that I have to go back home for the medical and interview. And he let me through and everything was fine!

Just be honest and make sure you have the confirmation of your return ticket with you :)

Thanks! I'm super happy we're finally together again for now!

He doesn't have a job. He just graduated. Got his results in July. That's part of the worry. He's worried it looks as if he has no ties. He lives with his mom. He's not working.

I entered the US yesterday! I also just graduated, don't have a job back home and moved back with my parents 2 weeks ago. NOA1 date is April 6th. I was super nervous that they would deny me entry, but all they asked for was my return ticket! :) POE was LAX.

Always be prepared! The CBP officer might be having a bad day and you don't want to always rely on luck ;)

The K1 visa process does NOT affect your ability to travel while it's processing. Don't worry about it.

In terms of the employment, that's a touchy subject. I can easily see how they can you working from home in the US while remotely working for a Dutch company would raise a lot of red flags for them. Basically, if you travel on a tourist visa they don't expect that you'll be working upon entering the country. This is also a problem if your Dutch company specifically tells you they want you working for them in the United States and employs you to do so without filing the proper paperwork.

Even if it's totally legit,  you may have issues proving it.

Since the whole thing is a big "what if" though, use your own judgement at the border. Simply explaining that you have the ability to work remotely for a Dutch company sounds a lot better than "I'll be working while in the US"

    Thanks so much! :)

I'll be honest, I've seen people turned away for it. They WILL do their best to cover all bases before denying you though, to make sure that you are going to be able to support yourself while you're there and may even call ahead to confirm when you will be returning.

Many years ago I too had an unemployed student girlfriend from across the border come visit me. They called me while she was at the border to confirm how I met and how long she was staying and also called her parents to make sure they knew she was intending to come back and when. Just make sure you have people to confirm the truth that are available to answer the phone (ESPECIALLY YOUR FIANCE) and you should be more than fine with a return ticket (and maybe proof of funds if you aren't bringing cash, since 2 months or so is a long time for someone unemployed).

They tend to scrutinize your stay more for "how will you support yourself" rather than relationship status, so be prepared.

Bringing the petition info is not going to be helpful to prove that. Bringing the NOA2 is not going to be helpful to prove that.

    Thanks!

I visited last year around the same the same time and I had no problems whatsoever. I've actually never had any issues before, but now we are in the K1 process.

I also have more than enough savings :)

Also, I might not be unemployed by that time. The company where I interned for in the Netherlands said they were looking for someone working for them in the US, Westcoast, but we still have to work that out. Should I mention that if that actually works out? Working from home for a Dutch company is allowed, right?

  7. Hi guys! I'll be visiting me fiancé in the US from July 15th to September 4th. We are currently waiting for our NOA2. My graduation is on July 12th, so I'm moving out of my student room and going to be living at my parents' house. I also don't have a job since I am still a student now. So I basically don't have any evidence of ties except for my return flight. Will this cause problems?

Also, do I need to bring any paperwork of our petition? My fiancé has all the paperwork in the US, and I thought I could take all the paperwork with me when I leave the US (hopefully we will receive NOA2 while I'm there) and then he doesn't have to mail me everything.

    Thanks!

I'm trying to make sense of your question:

-'I'm flying there' : where is there? the US? overseas?

    - 'would it be alright if I continued the process after 2 months' - what does that mean? which process? That you enter the US after 2 months? pay the visa fee after 2 months?

Be as specific as possible and you'll get the most helpful answers.

In general, estimates are just that so don't book anything too fixed that you can't change. You could get hit with an RFE, stuck in AP, there could be a delay, etc...

My bad, sorry! So I basically want to visit my fiancé in the US until September 4th and if we receive our NOA2 around July 12th, I would continue the K1 process once I'm back home (send packets, medical, interview, etc.) so after September 4th.

    Would that cause problems?

  9. Just now, Estibaliz said:

I think you'd be perfectly fine. First, you don't know if you will get the NOA2 in the estimate timeline, it could be sooner (quite unlikely, sorry), a bit later... or much later (I really hope that's not the case).

Then, after NOA2 you have to wait till the case is send to the NVC and processed there and then send to your Embassy. That's normally a minimum of 2-3 weeks for the first part... up to 6 weeks.

Once your case is ready at the Embassy, you don't have to do things right away, but have some margin to do so, because NOA2 is valid for a period of 4 months between approved date and interview, I think it was. I've read that deadline can be extended too.

Keep in mind the email notifications could not be working as it's currently happening, so you'd only know you have got your NOA2 by checking the mailbox or when the Embassy contacts you because the case is ready :)

I was hoping that there would be a tiny chance the NOA2 comes sooner ;) but I feel like that won't be happening haha.

Thanks! Visiting less than a month always feels like a waste of money :) so I'll book my ticket now!

  10. Hey guys!

I've been lurking here for awhile, also an April filer. We sent our petition somewhere in March, but USPS lost our mail and we ended up being April filers.

    Received NOA1: April 6th.

So I want to visit my fiancé from July 15th to September 4th, and the estimate for NOA2 here is around July 12th. I was wondering if we actually receive NOA2 around July 12th, would it be alright if I continued the process after I'm back home 2 months later?

I'm about to book the tickets, but I'm not sure to pick an earlier date (August 9th, because those are the cheapest) but I would much rather stay longer! :)

    Thanks!

  11. Hey guys!

We are currently waiting for our NOA2. The estimate here says we should receive it around July 12th.

So we just decided that I'm flying there July 15th, and I'm trying to decide if I want to fly back August 9th or September 4th (those are the cheapest dates). And I was wondering if we receive our NOA2 around July 12th, would it be alright if I continued the process after 2 months?

If his dad pays him as an employee, if he pays taxes and is legally listed as an employee at the dad's company....in theory then that's all you need. Just pay stubs from his job there. Tax returns. The dad wouldn't even need to be involved.

If the dad pays him cash and he isn't a tax paying employee, then that's an issue. It doesn't hurt to ask the dad.

    Thanks! I'll ask :)
