Oh wow. I've never heard of a call to reschedule before but I hope the issue is resolved soon. I got the notification yesterday that my interview was scheduled so I'm waiting for the letter to see the date. Also at the San Antonio office.

I know I thought the same too in regards to the phone call, I've scoured the internet to find someone else who got a phone call rather than a letter a few days prior to the interview but I'm yet to find anyone. We literally received the call 2 hours prior to interview. We drove to the office just to make sure it was legit and it was. So now I suppose I sit and wait? Frustrating really, I was hoping I could relax as of yesterday lol

I am starting a topic for San Antonio field office , my case is ready to be scheduled for interview since August 20  , for the people who have an interview scheduled, can you please share your time line

Mine was scheduled for today but 2 hours before my appointment I got a phone call advising it was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances. Looked on USCIS and the office got closed due to hazardous building conditions. Whatever that means lol so I'm currently waiting to hear what's next. Oh and mine went from ready to schedule to being scheduled in exactly 31 days.

Oh, we tried to reschedule to an earlier date but all we got from USCIS is  that they only do interviews in that month and the IO needed approval from the supervisor and only approved case-by-case basis depending on urgency.    So bascially, you are stuck with the reschedule date given to you unless you have a very good reason.

That sounds about right for USCIS "deal with it" attitude. It shouldn't be TOO much of an issue. I'm not going to be working until mid next year and my husband shouldn't have a huge issue booking another day off although his work can be pain in the a$$ sometimes lol

No.  For our local USCIS office, when they rescheduled , we only got a phone call and email.  Your local USCIS office may operate differently.  I heard one instance in another state there was a storm and when the couple arrived for the interview, they saw a notice taped to the door saying the office is closed due to storm and they can opt to go to the nearest USCIS office hours away.  They did not get any call or email.

In our case, we were instructed to cross out the date on the NOA for the interview and write the rescheduled date.  You need to bring that with you to the interview. The security or the check-in receptionist didn't question it.  I suppose it is the norm.   We did not get a new NOA (I-797C) for interview.  It must be frustrating for you as it really tough on us when in few days was our interview then USCIS reschedules.  My wife and I just told ourselves, we waited this long so we can wait another month. 😏

Thank you for the info, I'll have to make sure I don't ignore any calls (I get a lot of spam) lol. We drove to the office this morning just to clarify they were actually closed and there was a sign on the door advising all interviews we're cancelled and that they would be rescheduled as soon as possible. I was just excited to finally get my green card so I could begin doing my driving lessons. I suppose another month won't kill me lol.

Is san antonio in the line of fire for that hurricane?

i know youve waited a long time and are anxious but lives are more important. this is a MASSIVE CATEGORY 4 STORM. its not a rain shower.

im certain they will reschedule as soon as possible.

There isn't a hurricane warning for San Antonio. In fact we are meant to be having a nice sunny day today

  6. So 2 hours before I'm due to have my AOS interview I've gotten a phone call from a USCIS officer (I assume he works at the San Antonio office) advising the office has had to close today due to an emergency and that my interview will be rescheduled. Does anybody have experience with this and can let me know how far out the new interview would be? I will be extremely annoyed if we have to wait another month for an interview.

  7. So last night I was printing all my paperwork in preparation for my AOS interview and I pulled out my K1 folder and was just having a look through it when I got to my Interview confirmation for my K1 and I couldn't believe it.... The date AND time I had my K1 interview is exactly the same as my AOS interview! Can you believe it haha! Let's hope at 12.30pm on the 10th October I get good news again.

You can take your documents and sd card to the dmv to get a state issued id maybe your state will accept that. I think what you have is good enough just make sure everything is well organized. When asked for joint documents, vice the most important ones first such as joint tax, joint bank, joint lease, joint insurance, (car, health, life etc), joint bills so on and so forth. Do not offer IO anything that wasnt asked for. Again to reiterate make sure you are well organized and can find your documents easily without fumbling and rummaged through papers. For every documents u plan on presenting take copies with u to give IO becuz they will keep your original if u didnt give a copy. If your pics are in an album, it's best to make footnotes of who, when and where! I arranged our album wedding pics first, pics with just the two of us,  then us with family, us with friends and I had notes so IO didn't have to ask a bunch of questions. Now Relax and good luck

Thank you for responding, yep I'm a bit of an organise freak, I'll be purchasing a file this week to organise the paperwork.

I'd did exactly that with the pictures last night. I've just added them all neatly to a word document and stated who is in each picture an where.

Does your husband have a 401k or similar retirement plan with you listed as the beneficiary?

I also included medical and financial powers of attorney in the evidence of a bonafide relationship.

Do you have a state issued ID? (My husband got one last week and I was thinking of including that too)

I don't believe he has a retirement plan. All he has is the health insurance through his work which has me as the beneficiary if anything was to happen to him.

And I'm unfamiliar with the state issued id? I only have my SSN card.

I think I'm probably over thinking this, I just need to be optimistic that its enough. I put together almost 40 pictures (most with family and friends) just to try bulk it up

  10. Hey guy's, the February thread is a little quiet so I'll ask here instead. My interview is on October 10th in San Antonio. The evidence that I have for bonafide relationship is as follows.

    - Apartment lease in both names 2017

    - Apartment lease in both names 2018

    - Joint medical insurance

    - 2 letters/bills from the doctors in my name as spouse with my husbands works name on it etc

    - Joint bank accounts

    - Receipt with my husbands name on it activating my phone contract

    - Wedding pictures with family

    - Pictures from this year with each other

    - Congratulatory cards from our wedding

    - Adoption paperwork for our puppy, solely in my name (I'm the beneficiary) but with our home address on there

    - Vet receipts in my name but with our address on there

    - Paperwork in mine and my husbands name for when we put our dogs in boarding when we went on vacation

    Is this enough?

I don't drive and I'm not on any utilities. I can try to be added to one or two of our bills but it won't be a guarantee I'll get the paperwork in the mail on time. So I'm hoping what I have so far will be enough as from what I read most the time they mainly want to see the joint bank and joint health insurance. Any advise will be appreciated!

  11. I got my interview letter and it's scheduled for the 10th October. As for supporting documents I don't really have anything additional to send them as nothing has really changed since I sent in the pack (I sent in joint bank, joint lease etc). The only things I can provide is our new apartment lease contract, joint medical insurance through my husbands work, pictures from our wedding and with family and a receipt showing my husband starting my phone contract. Do you think this will suffice? I'm not on any utilities as I'm not working yet and I don't drive so I'm not on his car insurance. We did adopt a puppy but they could only put the paperwork in one name so it was put in mine but it has our home address on there could that be used? Also vet bills which are in just my name also for the same reason with our address on there? Any advice would be appreciated.

  12. I'm just curious for anyone who has already had their interview. I need to get a copy of my husbands insurance which I've been added onto. We are with AmeriBen through his work. I've just called them to get the paperwork as we haven't got anything in writing regarding our insurance but they only send out a letter that basically has my name my husbands name start date etc it doesn't go into detail about the policy and what we are entitled too. Will this be a problem at the interview? Can I just take the short version which is proof that we have joint insurance or do they need to see more details like me being a beneficiary?

Did it update with 'case ready for interview' or 'we have scheduled your interview'? Both are very different updates. First one means you're just in line and can be waiting a while still. The second one; if it's that, congrats!

Yep it was the first one, I'm ok with it not being straight away it means I can get my head focused lol my app updated again for my work permit saying it's been issued too.

  14. So my case tracker just went off again with an update that my case is ready for my green card interview. I'm so suprised, I honestly didn't expect to hear anything regarding my green card until the end of the year as the San Antonio office was really behind. Is it a good sign that I'm having my green card letter before even having an update on my EAD/AP?

Edit: I'm so nervous, I haven't mentally prepared for an interview lol any advise? Will the letter list what additional things I need to bring? Omg I'm excited but nervous 😂

  15. After 168 days I got my first update on my travel and work permit. It says my name has been updated. Did a little digging and it seems that it's good news and the next update should be that the card is being issued. I've been so relaxed throughout this part of the process and not bothered checking the app everyday, I think it's done my sanity wonders compared to what I was like during the K1 lol. Anyways that was my little update 😊

  16. I'm from the UK and I've been here for just over 4 months. I wouldn't say I've gotten home sick but I do miss my family and friend and FOOD! I was craving chocolate and sweets so I got my dad to send me a care package just last week, so I'd suggest he puts some supplies in his case as its expensive to ship over!

I'd be lieing if I said I don't get lonely each day because I do. My husband works long hours and is the only person I speak to every day as I don't know anyone else where we live. I brought my dog with me when i moved so she's my little peice of home who keeps me company (she has helped A LOT). I take her to the dog park 3 days a week which is across the road from where we live which is really convenient because I don't drive. This is my way of attempting to make new friends (not successful yet lol) & to just get out the house. On days I don't go to the dog park. I just sit in the sunshine on the balcony and watch the world go by. I avoid watching TV until the evening too. My advise would be to just try get out the house a few days a week even if it's to walk to the shop or walk around a park. Try and plan to do something each weekend, me & my husband go on hikes to keep it cheap and cheerful whilst I'm not working. Other than that I'm not sure what other advise I can give as I'm still trying to find my feet. Good luck!
