Marriage based AOS Interview Next Week - advice on Prep

Hi All,

 

Looking to get some advice on the methodology of a delivering some information during the visa interview, since I am positive this question will come up somehow or the other.

As you can read below in my signature, we legally got married on 7/28/17, and had our cultural/religious wedding on 4/29/18... a lot of folks have gone down this path, with different cultural ethnicities; especially coming from Indian descent...aligning birth charts, and looking for specific dates based on the match etc etc...

Technically, we were not opposed to the idea of a cultural wedding, but would have preferred that we use the capital towards more productive/profitable causes.

However, we wanted to keep our folks happy and hence we accepted the idea of the Big Fat Indian Wedding (she is 1st gen Indian-American)

 

How do we deliver this information during the visa interview? For Having 2 weddings...? Any constructive thoughts/comments welcome...

A couple of ideas that come to my mind are - 

1. Tax savings - 2017 had the opportunity as we could file jointly and save some dollars on taxes

2. Dates/Venues - culturally, based on our priest's findings the best conducive dates for International travel (my folks and family still live in India) 

 

Additionally, below is some information on documentation we already submitted along with the AOS Package, and the plan on what documentation to take the interview

I do not see an issue here. San Antonio, TX is very diverse. I am sure this will not be the first time they hear about a wedding ceremony taking place months after your civil ceremony. 

Regardless, in the eyes of USCIS, you have been legally married since 07-28-17.

 

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken. 

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

 

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.
