Ashley Scott got a reaction from Bluepanda92 in What is the safest route.. k1 Vs k3
Yes, you can work until the day you move over. I would highly suggest that you do this and put away as much money into savings as possible as the process can be quite expensive. It also helps to have a nice savings once you get here to give you a little bit of financial independence. You do not have to have a wedding booked before hand. It would be wise to have a plan that you can share (ex: we are planning to get married in "month you will marry" in "town you will marry". Or we are having a courthouse marriage in "month you will marry"). This is not a requirement but it can help let them know you are serious if they asked. My (now) husband was never asked anything about our wedding plans through the entire process. The only requirement is that you marry within 90 days of your arrival.

You can work anywhere outside the US before you enter on the K-1 visa.
No firm wedding plans are necessary. In fact, the suggestion is to not make any firm plans / put money down until you have the visa in hand. This makes actual wedding planning difficult if you want a bigger ceremony, but not impossible.

Good morning guys, I finally got some good news - my EAD card was approved, approval notice was sent out yesterday in the mail and my I-485 is now in que for ready to be scheduled for an interview. It appeared that the Senator's Office enquiry helped. There is still no new updates on my online status, it remains the same.

From my understanding, the K3 visa is no longer an option. I do believe the only option are K1 fiancé visa or the Cr-1 spousal visa.

I don't remember if they have to be a certain time frame but for some reason I am thinking 6 months. I would wait until after you receive your NOA2 to think about doing them. I know that there is a time limit that the medical stays valid when it comes to AOS once you marry and if it expires you have to pay for a new one here in the states which can be very costly. We applied for my husbands police certificate after the NOA2 while the case was at the NVC stage and it took about a week and a half to receive it in the post. We scheduled his medical after we received our case number from NVC which was about 2 and a half weeks after we got the NOA2.
Sorry I don't have exact answers but hope it helps a bit!

Ashley Scott got a reaction from Canelita in August 2017 AOS Filers
Hello everyone. Does anyone know how to check the status of a service request? The email we received when we submitted it said that a reply should be received by today but we haven't received anything. I went to the USCIS website but the number they sent us is coming back invalid. Just want to see if they have touched it yet.
Thanks in advance!

If you don't mind me asking, where in the US will you be shipping to? I may be able to get you in touch with a good resource to help you with your shipment.

Ashley Scott got a reaction from spa in Shipping Belongs (Canada to USA) via UPS etc.
Your best bet is to open a UPS account for your location in the United States and process the shipping labels from that address as an import. This will give you more control of the shipments once you enter the United States and will allow you to deal with the US customs and customer service. You will need to produce the commercial invoices and attach them to the boxes so that UPS is aware of the belongings inside the shipments. You can handle all of this on UPS.com by creating a login ID and new account number with the address of your US location. I would contact UPS customer service and ask them to have your local representative reach out to you once you create the account. They will be able to help you with any questions that you have as well as possibly offer shipping discounts for your imports. Below are links to some international tools on UPS.com that will help walk you through the shipment as well.

Ashley Scott reacted to crispytofu in August 2017 AOS Filers
Not sure if this is the correct way, but I was only able to find out when I created an account on USCIS then added all the receipts. Afterwards, from the "My Cases" page, if I click on the case corresponding to the 765, I see on the bottom of the page "Next Steps" and in that section it tells me that I filed an SR but it has not been assigned.

Ashley Scott got a reaction from Canelita in August 2017 AOS Filers
Our condolences to you as well. So sorry to hear that. My heart breaks for him and you. You don't think about how hard it will be if a situation like this arises until its too late. It is so frustrating how complicated it is to try and get a response on any inquiries on your case. I am assuming that we will not hear anything on the EAD/AP due to the interview being so close but we are still holding out hope that it may miraculously arrive in the mail today or tomorrow so that he can make it back for the funeral. Although we know that is most likely not going to be the case.
Good luck with your interview! I hope it goes smoothly and you get a quick approval!

We are still in the waiting game with you all for the EAD/AP. We did receive my husbands green card interview appointment set for December 14 in which we are very grateful for but we realized how important the EAD/AP is this week as his grandmother passed away and he is stuck here with no way to travel home for the funeral. We have looked into ways to expedite the AP but the soonest infopass appointment we can get is December 12 which is pointless considering his interview is the 14th. Really wishing that we would have received the AP by now but unfortunately the wait continues. It's hard when you have to wait on someone else to approve your "freedom".
Congrats to those who have received their approval and good luck to those still waiting. Fingers crossed that everyone hears something soon!

If its an emergency and you have for example a death certificate or doctors / hospital note to proof it you can try an emergency walk in infopass. Go as early as you can be the first person for the best result and tell the security you would appreciate if you could try to speak to an officer because of death in the family. They can grant an emergency AP on the spot at the field office

Ashley Scott got a reaction from AshMarty in UK citizen with 90 day visa - got turned away by USA at airport for no workers visa?
First and foremost, I suggest you research and research some more. The immigration process is a very long, daunting, and stressful process. There is nothing easy or cheap about it. That is not to say it isn't worth it, just that you really need to have your mindset ready to deal with the major ups and downs that come with it.
You will need to plan and visit and plan some more. Meeting your boyfriend is a requirement before any kind of visa can be filed. Also, this is a very important step before committing yourself to someone in my opinion. Spend some time together and get to know each other on a personal level in person before making a decision as large as marriage. I do believe that you can know that its right after one visit but the more in person time you have the better for both your relationship and the visa process.
When it comes to filing for a visa, do not leave anything out or try to lie about anything. This can be very detrimental to your visa process. Your boyfriend can end up being denied or receiving a ban for misrepresenting himself in the application. Research this as well and you will learn more about the consequences of omitting information or lying.
A work visa in the US is very hard to obtain. This is most likely not an option for him to come over.
Read the advice that everyone is giving you. This website can help a lot with information and guidance. But a lot of the process you have to learn as you go. And again, make sure you research not just the process but also the financial and emotional struggles that come with it.
I hope you can work it out to meet your boyfriend and that you are able to get the end results you desire. Everyone deserves to be with the person they love.
