My wife and I had our interviews this morning at the Fairfax, VA office. We both passed and are now placed inline for the oath ceremony. Here are the questions I was asked:

    1) What ocean is on the west coast?
    2) What are the first 10 amendments called?
    3) What is the capital?
    4) What war was Eisenhower a general in?
    5) Name on state that borders Canada
    6) One right for everyone living in the US

Then we updated the N400 form with changes and additional travel since the application was filed. Done in 15 mins. Here is the timeline:

    Applied: 8/3/21
    Biometric: Reused
Interview scheduled on 4/13 for 5/14
    Waiting for Oath.

    Good luck to all!

Interview done today in San Jose office. Did the civics first, followed by English test then went through the application. Questions asked:
    1. Name 3 of the original 13 colonies.
    2. What was the US main concern during the Cold War.
    3. In what month do we vote for the president?
    4. What is the highest court in the US?
    5. What is one right only for a US citizen?
    6.  What is the name of the national anthem?

My application went very smoothly and was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Hey guys, my oath ceremony is tomorrow and Im feeling so many different emotions as I finally approach the end of this journey.  VJ has been a safe space for me for the past 6 years - I always knew I could find comfort and solidarity from the people on the forums.  It was always a relief to know that I was not alone.  I wanna thank you all for all youve shared and continue to share to help someone else….it really is appreciated.  And good luck to whomever is still in the process - there is light at the end of the tunnel….just hold on a little bit longer!  See you guys in the American wilderness  thank you thank you thank you and I wish you all the best.

Make sure you saved the file in the right format. For a moment I was not being able to upload and it was because when I name the file I misstyped a dot in the wording before the format-dot.
    example:
    Spouse. Passport.pdf (Wrong)
    Spouse Passport.pdf (Right)
Maybe this is the reason … just check if this might be the case!

You can actually have USCIS designated Civil Surgeon to do the new medical prior to the interview. Have your wife bring the previous i-693 / DS-3025 + all other vaccination records she has had in the past to the Civil Surgeon so that they can check what else is needed and what is not needed as it'll be transferred or transcribed to the new i-693 which the doc will fill up.
Once it is completed, the doc will put all the records in a Sealed Envelope for you to bring to the USCIS during the interview. Before your doc do so, make sure to ask for a copy of i-693 and vaccination records so that you can keep a copy of it.

I should be receiving my interview notice by mail soon this week, suspect my interview will be in Nov or Dec. My i-693 and AOS are filed in July 2017. My DS-3025 was completed in Feb 2017. Pretty sure they will issue an RFE for new medical exam if I am to go to the interview without a new one, wouldn't like to risk being delayed for approval if they can approve on the spot. Willing to spend the $$ and get it all done.

Oh, try to call a few diff doc and ask the price. Sometimes some doc charges a lot more than the other.

Hey people, dont even know if here is the right place to post it but since i’m a july filer....
i just travelled outside the US and came back under the advance parole.
my husband and I went to brazil to see my family and vacation and came back 10 days later.
I was worried about entering the US with the advance parole since this whole immigration nowadays seems a mess but everything went smoothly.
The port of entry was JFK.
My husband went thru the automatic passport control and after finishing his stuffs we went together to the IO.
He just took my fingerprints, picture and told me because i was under the AOS i had to go to the sencondary screening thing.
Another office scorted me to the room while my husband went to get our luggages.
It was literally 2 minutes between getting to the room and leaving.
5 minutes later we were already outside waiting for the taxi to come home.
No questions asked besides “how long you guys were out?”

If you are worried like I was of travelling with the advance parole just relax.

Maybe things are starting to move.
We got an update on the USCIS App that an interview was scheduled for my wife's green card today and that the notice date will be mailed soon.

What is the average time between update and interview date? about a month?

We have a trip planned to Vietnam for the month of June that we can not back out of. So this notice might be terrible timing for us :/

Yup, I'm always getting left behind.
I don't know why I was thinking it was from the time we got married, that is a bummer...
I was hoping my wife would have had her green card by now. I'm a bit worried that the interview notice will be in June because we are headed back to Vietnam for the month of June. Not sure what will happen if we are unable to make the interview D:

Sharing my EAD experience coming back from Brazil....
Last Dec 9 I came back from Brazil to US and had a connection in Toronto. In Toronto they have all the Security and Immigration for Canada. While waiting in line for the immigration the officer got my docs and took me to a different room saying that he knew what that was, but didnt have the necessary systems to release me into my next flight to US.

So he took me to a different room, where I waited for 1h30min when finally an officer called me, looked at my card and stamped my passport allowing me to get to my next flight. For those out there flying back to US with connections, make sure you have at least 2 or 3 hours between flights when using AP (I had 4 hours).

Despite that long wait, everything was smooth and fine.

    Thank you all

PS: @izavox your feedback a while ago also helped, thanks.

My wife hasn't heard anything since her biometrics in mid August and she got her i-766 card in the mail in early November.
We have a month long vacation planned in June to visit her family in Vietnam.
We figured we would have heard something by now.
I just hope her interview doesn't get scheduled for sometime in June...

My wife's EAD (I-765) and AP (I-131) were both approved on October 31st.
We got a notification via the USCIS app that the EAD card was mailed to us, and it showed up at our house on Nov. 4th. But we never got a notification that the AP was mailed to us, and it did not show up with the EAD card.
    Is this normal??
Anyone else have this problem? How long might it take to mail?

We had a similar problem, received AP in like 30 days, green card in around 90, still no action on EAD. It isn’t normal I think, but does happen occaisionally.

In our case, it’s all good since we received green card, good luck to you

Hi there, yeah I'm back! And thanks so much for the source! I looked over the Naturalization Eligibility Worksheet and see it is 3 years since the marriage.
But even better "naturalization applicants may file their applications 90 days before they have satisfied the 'continuous residence' requirement". So I guess it is 2 years and 9 months.
Thank you so much, you're the best!!

Nowrya got a reaction from Karmachewy in Should the Marriage Certificate first name match the K-1 Visa "given name"?
    Vietnamese problem here.
On Vietnamese passports and the K-1 visa's, the 'given name' is listed as the middle name then the first name, all as one name. This has been ongoing since April of 2016.

The woman at the Social Security Office gave us such a hard time and told us her Marriage Certificate needs to match her visa 'given name'. So we had her marriage certificate's first name changed as her real middle name followed by her first name, and then left her middle name blank.

I feel we have made a huge mistake now. Her marriage certificate's 'first name' wont match her AoS forms 'first name'. Because for all the AoS forms we are entering her first and middle name as it is listed on her birth certificate, the same we listed it as her k-1 visa forms.
We are filling the AoS forms out now.

1.) Should we change all the AoS forms (G-325a, I-864, I-485, I-765, I-131, G-1145) listing her first name as it appears on the visa and then leaving the middle name blank? But it wont match her old i-129 forms.
2.) Then, should we write in the sections for "other names used" as how her real first and middle names are listed on her birth certificate and i-129 forms?
3.) She already filled out her I-693 as her name as it appears on her birth certificate but with my last name, signed it, and it is in a seal envelope from the doctor (she needed 1 more vaccination shot when she got to the US). If we change the other AoS forms to match her name on her visa then should we just add a supplement form to the outside of the seal envelope explaining what we did?

4.) Anyone here come to the US after April 2016 on a K-1 and have name issues?

Am I over thinking this all?

Nowrya reacted to Scandi in How many marriage certificates should I include with my AoS forms?
It's not important how many forms there are, but how many applications there are. You have 6 forms but only 3 applications. It's only a requirement to send 1 copy of the marriage certificate and that is with the i-485 application.

However, since there has been a name change I would send a copy with the i-765 and the i-131 applications as well, to be on the safe side. It's not a requirement but I have seen people getting the wrong name on the EAD/AP before as the passport is still in maiden name. Most are fine though, but why take the chance? It doesn't cost you anything but some ink and two extra sheets of paper to include it with all 3 applications.
