Hello everyone. I'm helping my husband fill out his n-400 application. He came to the US when he was 22 and overstayed his visa and his his i-751 got approved last week so his window to apply for n-400 opens up towards the end of his month. He's 34 years old and has never registered for selective service. I  ran across the selective service question and got stuck. They're asking for a status information letter from the sss.gov. Does he need to register, even though he's over 31 y.o.?
  2. Thanks

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted and this is long overdue but I figured I'd update you. On March 27th, both of my in laws received their 10 year green cards! No interview. Took a little over 5 months. Good luck to everyone else!

Update for my mother in law, same update as my father in law yesterday. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the physical card in hand after this update?

I walked in at noon the day before my scheduled bio appointment since I had jury duty the day of my appointment. There was NO LINE and they didn't even ask me for proof, took me in on the spot. In and out in 5 minutes. This was at the Brooklyn USCIS facility.

    Hello October Filers!

I'm not a petitioner nor a beneficiary on this thread but I did closely assist my sister in law to submit the AOS package for her parents. I went through this once before when i petitioned for my husband so I thought I could be of help.

    Our timeline:
Shipped to Chicago Lockbox: Oct 2nd
    Delivered: Oct 4th

No texts as of yet. Looks like some of you are getting them sooner than others, thats wonderful!

    Good luck to all!

Ok so we had the AOS interview yesterday at Federal Plaza in New York City. Our appointment was at 1:10PM so we arrived at 12:20PM. We signed in and were provided with a ticket and we were told to listen for our number. They were a little busy that day so our officer called us at 2:10PM. He was really nice, he noticed we were nervous and said not to be and that this will be a breeze. We had A LOT of documentation, pictures and bona fide proof with us however he only asked for a couple of items. He then asked me for a copy of my neutralization certificate- which I didn't have. I became a citizen when I was 17 through my parents who became neutralized then. They both received their neutralization certificates however I never got one because I was under the age of 18. I never thought I would need one.. I assumed that a US passport would suffice however it did not! I learned that a US passport is not proof that you're a US citizen. He said he would have approved the AOS however he cannot until I prove to him that I'm a citizen, and the only way is to apply for a certificate and then send him copies of my parents certificates along with my old green card number. He was nice enough to take time and draft up the RFE for us on the spot and he directed me where to go and what to do to obtain the certificate.

Alas, the interview went well. He said that this will just extend the process by 2 weeks. Once I submit the RFE, we should be good to go. I was pleasantly surprised with the demeanor of the officer, he was very friendly (although very through in asking questions, my nerves did run wild a few times) but overall it wasn't as scary as I thought!

The only downside is that I have to spend $1,170 for this certificate!
