Every embassy is different, of course, but they tend to state quite clearly that planning a wedding or booking travel in advance is not recommended, and as such not a reason to expedite your case. At this rate your best bet is to just be a pain and regularly inquire as to whether anybody has cancelled and left a slot free. If you can come up with a compelling reason as to why it might need to be brought forward, it's worth trying, but just trying to find a cancelled slot might be more fruitful.

    @Coco8
Update: We tried calling to set up fiancées medical appointment and they said that they needed the okay from the embassy first and that they do these appointments based on interview date.

Then we called the embassy, operator said they do not take phone calls for these issues.

Sent an email asking for a date closer to today's date for above reasons and they emailed back 10 mins later saying that there are no other appointment dates available earlier and that interviews are being scheduled at this time for October and November. I emailed back asking if there was a website I could check on or if I could check back periodically with them and they emailed me back saying that they will put me on a waitlist. 😑

Not sure I even believe them after all of the junk that USCIS lied about.

There is not really a way to get a better date. You (US citizen) can send an email or call, but I doubt they will get you a better date. You will have to give a better reason than "I'd like to get this over with"; maybe say you'd like to get married close to the summer so that you can use your summer vacation for that (just an idea).

It is strange that online DOS says that the wait time for appointments is 11 days. You could mention this in the email.

Our case is finally on its way to us in Chile! Hoping the embassy gives us our interview date sometime next week!

We blew pretty quickly through NVC so that was good, finally something in our favor in regards to time

No visas for nieces or nephews. Family based visas are limited and they do not fall in any of the categories.

You are correct on the scenario for them to get here. However, the visa for siblings will be about 12 - 15 years (20+ years if they are from Philippines, Mexico, or India). And the children could  possibly age out if they are over 21 when a visa becomes available after that time.

Exactly as above. if your income is sufficient, then you don't need to list assets.

As long your income is sufficient then you'll be fine.  Savings are not a requirement a source of income is if no source of income you need significant savings.    Note that the %125 percent is based on household size so if it's more than just you and your future wife the money amount is higher.

This whole process puts a lot of strain on relationships. My fiancee and I waited 215 days for NOA2 which we just got on June 5th (we are November 3rd filers), and it was so stressful for the both of us. We are coming up on 1 year of being physically separated. Soon you will be with your fiancee, keep your head up and don't let this nasty process get between your love for one another!

    Hi there!

Congratulations for everyone! It is just so amazing seeing you getting visas and reuniting with your loved ones. I am moving to my fiancee in just a few weeks, right after I graduate university - defend my master's thesis. I've been here on this forum for the past 7 months and realized that so many people here met online - just like me and my fiancee - and here is my question, I am doing research for purpose of my thesis about building romantic relationship online and would be just so great if you'd help me and spend just 2 min on filling questionaire here: https://www.survio.com/survey/d/C3F4E6B7K6S5J9M5A
    I'd be truly grateful!

Yes I got the Packet 3 through email. I actually emailed the contact email on this page: https://cl.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/ when the NVC status checker said that our case was ready at the embassy. I emailed asking what our next steps would be (with case number etc.) and they emailed me back the package three and with an interview date. Yeah our interview date was 1.5 months from when they told us (July 14). I had not heard the thing about calling to get an earlier date -- honestly I didn't have much luck when I called the general phone line. I have had more luck with the email -- I have sent them questions and they have answered promptly (usually same day). But it doesn't hurt to try and call and/or email to see if you can get in earlier.

    Good luck!

Just use the CEAC tracker, no need to call once you have your case number!

The steps you listed are for people in the process of getting an immigrant visa, as a k1 you won't be sending any docs to nvc and won't go through that process

the email you might get with steps is from the foreign embassy your partner will interview at

    Thank you, Yovanna.
My case was approved on June 7th, 2017.   I am still however concerned for the people who are walking down this same path behind me. If I go to the USCIS website:   https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do   And type in my case: XXXXXXXXXXXXX   I get the message that my case is received. My case is approved, not received    The citizens of this country deserve to have a case tracking system that works. If it doesn't work, at the very least we deserve and honest answer that it doesn't and an ETR of when it will be fixed. The case tracker has been broken since May 2nd, 2017 and countless people have reported it broken and the USCIS phone support refuses to acknowledge it or fix it.    I am a member of an online immigration forum and this sort of thing, along with many other USCIS related issues are giving the United States a bad image for the people who are immigration here. I have seen countless immigrants talking about how disorganized and broken USCIS is, and rightly so seeing how USCIS has handled our cases.   Would it be possible to please submit a new inquiry about the case tracker being broken?   Best Regards
