Lavazza_K reacted to Shiraz04 in ATL Field office Filers?
    Good morning y’all

I had my interview yesterday afternoon and I passed it, however, no same day oath was given. The interview was conducted pretty much like what I’ve read at this site. The officer told me that I’ll receive the oath ceremony letter in the mail.

I decided to file N-400 after almost 27 years being a permanent resident, because I wanted to vote for this election. Even I missed the registration by a couple of weeks due to the pandemic, I still can say I’m happy that I’ll be done with USCIS soon!

Yesterday, I took an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America. It was a mixed of emotions since I am happy that after migrating here for five years, eight months and five days, I am finally done with the immigration process and at the same time, it was with a heavy heart to renounce my citizenship to my Mother Land. I will always love my country of birth and origin no matter what, and will always continue and raise my children with the Filipino values and morals that were taught and passed down to me by my parents, but I also love to live and fulfill my American dream in God's time.

The ceremony could've been better with my family around, but due to the present pandemic, I had to attend and took an oath all by myself. But on the lighter note, I am finally done and I am so over the moon. To God be the Glory!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you all for sharing your inputs, your own experiences and for your positivity. I wish everyone the best. 🥰

Lavazza_K reacted to Unlockable in RFE for B2 extension (Mom's visit extension due to Covid)
As others have pointed out, your claims for the need for the extension for your mother doesn't seem to be holding water.

*She has health problems that makes traveling problematic yet she has traveled to the US (a very long flight from China) 3 times before.
*Currently, the US is trending worse than China in regards to Covid cases, so she could be safer back home.
*She has major health conditions yet does not have insurance in case problems with those conditions occur.
*You want to list visiting friends and family as activities for a high risk person in a country that is currently having the highest number of infections???
*Claiming you are waiting for a vaccine is a huge no-no. This is pretty much telling them you are waiting for the unknown. A vaccine may not come out until late next year. Or NEVER. Or what if China comes out with a vaccine for their citizens next week? Your mom is here yet a vaccine for her is back home. Get that excuse out immediately.

I personally think you may have opened a can of worms by claiming so many health concerns. Now immigration may think your mom is at risk of using free treatment or health benefits that is for US citizens if there is an emergency.

For the RFEs, you should provide them with information that is consistent with you preparing to send your mother home and not things that show your mother pretty much living in the US now (she is just 3 months away from 1 year here). Look into return tickets or return dates. Look into travel insurance.

Remember, they don't have to give your mother an extension at all. It is not a right for her to be here. If the extension is denied then, not only will you be scrambling to return your mother home at the last minute, but if she has overstayed, her visa will be cancelled and she will not be returning again in the near future.

    Plan accordingly and good luck.

Did you submit details of her travel insurance?

Otherwise the questions look pretty straightforward.

Agree with waiting for a vaccination, that could be never.

Sorry this bit is not going to be directly helpful to you but I just wanted to comment that I find this interesting, as it had seemed they were being more lenient than usual with Covid related applications. This makes it seem they are certainly scrutinizing them as well as anything else.

In terms of trying to be helpful: consistent with B essentially means, not in effect actually living here. Probably always a concern with a parent as clearly parent is probably staying with you, maybe helping look after kids, cook etc rather than “being a tourist”. (Yes yes I know that’s what a parent visit is, but...) And - you clearly didn’t do what you should have done in terms of providing details of residence, why she would go home etc. That should have been done as per the instructions.

I’m only going to comment on the covid part. One; Don’t expect a vaccine to be available the end of this year or early next year. Two; it’s not a be all end all; the majority of the population will have to be vaccinated for there to be a huge response. Personally I’d not use covid as an excuse for the above reasons, the fact that you are keeping your mom in a country with a higher rate of covid than China (again your reasoning doesn’t meet the facts) and masks may be a solution for years to come... she was able to arrive in the US with a very bad heart condition so she can depart the US with a very bad heart condition. See how using covid doesn’t help your situation? Good luck in whatever you choose. If your mom is denied her extension she will receive a ban   From the US so make sure your ducks are in a row before submitting and be honest.

Lavazza_K got a reaction from JFH in lack of evidence for I-751. please help!
You have a reason now..for I751. Some of these things they ask for are not necessary for your personal life, but they are key to removing your conditions. We didn't want a joint account either since everything already worked, but for this we had to open one and use it to make sure we had lots of transactions. All my married friends who are born citizens don't have one..it's annoying, but you will need it. I'd suggest opening one ASAP so you will have at least a year of history when you file next year.

And your spouse had no income as well? Or was it filing as single? if it was filed as single then amend it to include you.

Health insurance, 401k beneficiary, phone bills, travel itineraries. you mentioned that you have a lease agreement, try to make it show that you lived there from when you got married to the most recent and have it notarized.

did you tell them that your GC was returned when you called to change your address? did they say they will put in a request to have the GC sent back again?

I suggest calling them again and ask if they have sent the card out again, if not ask them to open a request. It took ~20 days for them to send out the card again for the other person.

They are bad here...! Fortunately the ones I'm close to are in counties where there are a lot of immigrants. I was prepared for a battle when i went to renew my DL on an extension letter but they seemed to be very familiar with it, just took it (not nicely though) before I even started explaining.. One of my friends had to do it in the Hall county and they wouldn't even consider.

I agree with every answer here just except I think the expired GC will not be validated with the I551-The I551 stamp will be your new green card essentially. You will need to show them the stamp and probably give a copy of it. Although your A number will be the same so if they do any background check you will be fine.

I have one friend that was rejected on borrowing with extension letter and I-551, and another granted loan with slightly higher borrowing rate, so yes I think it depends on the lenders.

Please don't stress yourself, it's very annoying but don't let it be a disturbance of your life. My friend who was rejected ended up renting an apartment for 6 months and bought another house after that. It will all work out eventually. Best of luck!

Lavazza_K got a reaction from David and Sinthea in ROC Interview Letter Questions (with pic)
Usually not very common to get an interview for ROC, but of course depending on how much evidence you submitted. Even if your evidence is deemed insufficient to them, most of the time you will receive an RFE (request for further evidence) letter first, then after you respond with more evidence if they still think it's insufficient, that's when you might be getting an interview.

I wouldn't sweat it at this point. Best of luck!

Approval letter came in today. It was on 05/18/2017, exactly one year from the NOA date. Waiting to send in my I-400 when I receive the actual card. This year has been good so far, got my CPA license last month, Green card approval this month and hope to be granted the citizenship before the end of the year. I'm grateful!!!
