    Your attorney is wrong. You can use any combination of the surnames listed on the marriage certificate. Example: Mary Smith marries John Doe.     OK. You probably already know that the stamped passport can be used as a full-fledged temporary Green Card until the plastic one arrives. Hopefully, you can get this resolved quickly.

    The receipt number you got after paying the $220 fee can be used to track the Green Card (per reports of others).

    Too late to apply for a SS card at a local office now. Now that you have married, she won't be able to get a Social Security card until she has an EAD (or receives it as a result of marking the box on the I-485 or I-765)....maybe up to 8 months after applying for Adjustment of Status. I see no reason to attend the SS office appointment now. A SS number is not needed to file an I-485. File the I-485, etc. as soon as you have the paperwork ready.

    Yes. USCIS makes that determination...not CBP.

    What the CBP officer stamped on the passport doesn't matter. If you have been married for 2 years or longer on the day the visa holder entered the US, a 10 year card should be issued. That determination is not made at the point of entry. If she was processed, the 10 year plastic card should arrive a few weeks to a few months after entry...same with the SS Card.

    If you have been married for 2 years or more, she should receive a 10 year card. Your timeline has not been updated.

    If the I-485 is approved, there will not be another interview. They will mail the plastic Green card. There will be no need for an EAD or AP document. She is authorized to work and re-enter the US after travel. Congratulations!!!

    Some said the consulate told them to do that.......but I can't find the thread to see if it was successful.
