Georgia16 reacted to Amadia in N-400 Dec 2019 Filers
I gotta say, I'd be upfront about it and let them know that the masks and shields make it definitely more difficult to hear anything so please speak louder.

Georgia16 got a reaction from BDD in N 400 interview with pending I 751
On My interview letter for N-400 it also said that no one could come but then I got the I-751 interview letter for the same time as the N-400 at it said to bring spouse.

What I’m trying to explain is that personally, I could not bring myself to say the oath until recently. To me saying an oath is something you should do only if you have no reservations. Perhaps I’m too purist about this, but it’s an extremely serious matter and no one should take it lightly. It’s not about giving up citizenship in my case, it’s about giving up loyalty which is perhaps more nebulous but no less important in my mind. Until I was able mentally to give up loyalty to my original country i was not prepared to say the oath. And if that meant 37 years of being a resident alien and not being able to vote or serve on a jury, then that was the price I was prepared to pay.

Wow. This helps me. Just now finished my N400 interview at Kansas City Office and I passed. The officer told me that i should receive OATH ceremony invitation in the mail and it will be in a court house. From the info on this link looks like it will be on August 16th but only the notice will tell for sure.

Haha. True. Just now coming out of my interview! And I Passed. It was easiest phase of the entire immigration process.
It took about 20 minutes for the process and I was in and out of the USCIS building quick. I had my interview at Kansas City , field office.
I got a sweetest elderly lady officer.
She asked me 6 civics questions and yes and no questions, read and write test. Confirmed my personal information. Thats it.
Told me i had passed.
But I have to wait for OATH ceremony since it has to be done ina court house infront of a judge.
So she told me that i will receive an invitation to Oath Ceremony in the coming days via mail and then i should attend and apply for passport.
So that is left.
Overall my 7 year immigration journey is almost over. Thanks to this forum. Which has helped me way more than any attorney could have.

Georgia16 got a reaction from R&OC in N-400 Dec 2019 Filers
I got to say with shields and mask and what not I'm darn worried I can't hear what they are saying becasuse half the time here (with maks) it's hard to hear what people say and what I say.

No they ask you question and you answer no screen there.
Read the sentence from a screen and write on the screen.

This is a very sincere question: do you have anything in New Mexico for you other than moving just for immigration purposes? If the IO asked you during the interview why you moved in the middle of the process, I am not sure how well they would like the answer of "so my petition could be approved faster." Also, moving could end up backfiring on you because you have to wait for them to transfer your petition, then have another office look at it, and then you're added to the list behind everyone that is already at that office.
I know the waiting is hard. Believe me if anyone does it's my husband and I. We had to go through the K1 and the CR1 process to get him here which added more cost and another year to being together. Then we waited a year and a half to get his ROC approved while we watched many people who filed the same time be approved with out an interview and very quickly. Like all things immigration, patience is key. Your time will come. Don't make a big life changing decision based on an estimate that isn't always accurate.

I understand where you think you can cheat the system and I applaud you for trying to figure ways around the stressful waiting 🙌
However, moving from one state to another with a pending n400 will work like this:
- USCIS receives your change of address and enters it into their system.
- Based on where you move to, they will arrange to have your n400 file sent to the nearest operating field office there.
- Your file will be last in line.
- While processing times show outside normal processing for receipt notices dated prior to November 14, 2019 (as at today) in Albuquerque, you moving from one state to another is not considered "normal processing" so they can always say they have to familiarize themselves with your file.
Trust me, you are already in line where you are, moving is completely up to you but don't think that you can shortcut the US govt 🙂

A passport is still and always will be an acceptable ID for flights both domestic and international.
REAL ID requirement has been postponed for another year due to COVID-19. We all have until October 1, 2021 to get an acceptable REAL ID.

No that is not how it works. You can move and your case will get transferred after address change but you will be put in line for an interview there they don’t care how long you have waited somewhere else.

I Think you should apply for it. Then you have it and can go when things open up again and don’t have to wait for your passport by then. Make that passport your treat!

Its such a great feeling. I truly can’t wait to click delete on the very large file of evidence I’ve had on my computer since 2014. I can’t wait to not have to stress about filing fees, documenting my life for the government and worrying about interviews and petitions.

Great!! Wish my office was like that but they like to make people wait 1-3 months.
I'm happy for you! It is over very soon and you can burn up all those documents!
