Joe&LuMa reacted to Bugs in N-400 January 2017 Filers
According to recent VJ Timelines, Dallas field office filers has an approximate wait time of 8-9 months from the date of filing to the date of the interview, with people who filed as early as November still waiting for their interview letters.  Given that you are a January filer, expect an interview in or around September and your interview letter to arrive in or around August as a result.

Not many recent VJ Timelines come from Oaklahoma City field office filers, so it's hard to make an accurate determination when to expect your interview letter.  But the most recent came from an April 2016 filer who had the interview date 6 months from the date of filing.  Given that you are a January filer, this would place you in line for a July interview if we are to go by that.  So expect an interview letter any day now.

According to recent VJ Timelines, Tampa field office filers has an approximate wait time of 8 months from the date of filing to the date of the interview, with people who filed as early as December still waiting for their interview letters.  Given that you are a January filer, expect an interview in or around September and your interview letter to arrive in or around August as a result.

It's all to do with what field office you are in.

How are you going to buy tickets and then travel if you have no visa? Do not call CO a jerk. Instead, look at yourself. You lied at the interview and had no visa which is right. No visas for liars. I doubt you'll have any US visa in the next few years, because your previous lie is in your case already.

She has no grounds for alimony. You guys hadn't been married long enough, NC has no time frame but also doesn't entertain short term marriages either as you can only get alimony for half the length of at best so it is a waste of time (remember, she has a PD aka only her criminal stuff) unless its been a good number of years.

Even if she was able.....dude, she LEGALLY lost the right because she abused you. How so? Because you now have grounds for an at fault divorce in NC classed as marital misconduct, you would have never divorced her if she didn't abuse you. At fault divorce or even showing grounds for being able to file at fault means she can't get alimony. When you file sep. and divorce, don't list irreconcilable....you list marital misconduct/abuse....make a note of that when going forward, it will save you some worrying about all this. NC is a hybrid state and lets people divorce no fault or fault.

That letter was just outlining the basics of what could happen for any divorcing couple, not specific to you guys, so it contains any/all things even those non applicable. Above all, be sure and go June 1.

You sounds like you got an arrest report with the basics, not the full police report. Go get a court order for a police report? I don't think this is correct....did they mean you must go to the court to pick it up? You want to use the basic one you have, find the name of the arresting officer and call he or she and speak to them about how to get the report, simply explain your work doesn't allow time off because you've used it all, how can I get the report with the least hassle. If the officer isn't there (they were 3 on, 4 off, 4 on, 3 off) leave a message and they will call you back I promise.

Keep focusing on your job in the meantime and your mental wellbeing too.

Only god or uscis knows this, my case status is inline for almost 3 month, for some people it took a week after being inline and some are waiting over 6 months, many say it depends on the speed of field office and some say other things.... so i guess just check the status and wait for letter, welcome to the world of patience

That's a good point, but perhaps they already had a relatively up to date info on your background and therefore did not need a more rigorous check? I have seen quite a few on this board that got to the inline stage within 2-3 days, mine took 9 days, others take way longer, but once they are inline, their PD kicks in and are then queued inline for the actual interview according to their PD rather than the date they became inline. In any event, my assumption on the "bulk of the background check" comes from what they tell us in the "Initial Review Stage" below which comes before the "Testing and Interview stage" that includes being "inline":

The only other place that I have seen the topic of background checks being covered is here : https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartB-Chapter2.html .

Other than that , all I can tell you is best of luck, hopefully you will get your notice soon, i am not sure what the average wait times are in your F.O, but in mine, they are 3-4 months after F.P .

I am sorry but I am not sure ... I had my FP on the FEB 7'and on the Feb 8 early morning I was " in line for interview.."
How were they able to do " bulk of the background check"  in such a short time ?? Hard to believe it..
By the way, I am still waiting for interview date as well

USCIS doesn't care about your opinion about taxes. If the requirement states that you need to provide recent tax return then yoiu have to do it or they will not accept your application ( because missing documents). And coming on tourist visa with the intent to adjust is a fraud indeed.

You totally wrong. 2016 tax information is required, so you need to submit  2016 tax info.

Classic immigration fraud case... This has been overused and USCIS knows this.
Immigrants gets married to an American, gets GC and then goes back to bring a lover from same country.
You got to be smarter than this.. This trick no longer works. A lesbian marries a heterosexual for immigration benefit just to turn around and bring her lover here. Your story stinks no matter how you cut it.
ever thought about why INA has that 5 year wait clause?? They got tired of it.

I am late seeing this thread and I must say I have never given out so many reputation points in one thread in my VJ existence.

OP, to put it in simple terms.... It looks bad. Even if your marriage was sincere, what you are asking/planning to do just looks bad. This is the biggest hurdle you will have to overcome, proving to an immigration officer that you didn't use the USC for a greencard so that you can bring over your lover. This is why immigration has put in safe guards like the 5 year rule after you immediately divorce a USC.

If you truly love your girlfriend back home, you can always divorce your husband and continue your relationship with her back in your home country. Otherwise, it will be a long time before she is here.

Try and look at what you have written from the viewpoint of others.
You met and fell in love with a USC MAN, he filed the paperwork for a K1 visa, brought you to the US, married you and filed AOS all in a timely fashion.

Within the short time you have been in the US ( and it would appear only since you got your green card) your sexuality has changed and you have met and fallen in love with a same sex partner residing in Honk King and want to know if you can now bring them to be with you.

You have to admit that based on what you have written it appears you married purely for the green card.

I am hoping this is a troll post, if it's not then based on what has been posted by the OP my sympathies lie with her husband.

You didn't fill in your timeline but since you are a conditional resident I can assume that you came here and married you husband  in the last 2 years. I just wonder when  and where you met and fell in love with your girlfriend who resides in Hong Kong. It looks like a lot is happening in your life at the same time.
