CG&LGG got a reaction from JE2020 in N-400 February 2022 Filers
My husband had his interview at the Tampa office this morning at 11:20. And it was over by 11:33.
APPROVED!
The officer was super friendly. We had forgot to list two cruises that we had gone on in the travel section of the application. They were so long ago and we were going off of stamps in his passport for the travel. And of course you don’t get stamps in your passport on cruises. He was able to update his travel section at the interview, and it was no problem at all.
The questions he got asked were: Who is the father of our country, what are the political parties of the United States, what is the rule of law, what war did the US fight in the 1800s, who is the vice president right now, and what ocean is on the West Coast?
For the reading and writing portion, he had to read where is the White House? And he wrote the White House is in Washington DC.
Oath ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow!

Unfortunately the State Department, not the uscis, issues passports so their policy supersedes the uscis statements. The state department requirement is to provide original evidence of citizenship when applying for a passport.

Oath ceremony is over. Oath ceremony in Tampa was super quick, letter said it will start at 10am, they let you in 30 mins prior to that. By 10:15am we left the building. Done, done and done. No pics allowed inside, but you can take outside. Congrats to everyone, you are already on finish line!

Office Location: Tampa, FL
Interview: 8/9/2022
Filed in February 2022
The officer was a very sweet friendly and compassionate lady. She made sure to make it non-stressful, it really depends who you get. They asked for appointment letter, passport and green card. If you recently had a baby, they will add Birth Certificate to the file. I was offered to have oath ceremony tomorrow, same location.
Had to confirm my name, my address, few questions on N400 were asked about oath and weapons (Yes or No).
Since I answered everything correctly, I was only asked 6 questions:
1) How many senators (100)
2) Who is the senator of your state
3) The border with Canada (New York)
4) What is the highest court (Supreme)
5) Who is the President of the US? (Joe Biden)
6) For how many years we elect senator? (6 years)
Write: Washington is the Father of our country. (You will be offered tablet and stylus)
Read a sentence.
Pretty pleasant experience! You got this, just breathe and smile.

I agree, he can change his name change selection on the N400 at the interview.
Good Luck!

CG&LGG reacted to Mobius1 in Changed mind about name change
It’s not a problem. While going over the application, the officer verifies the information and will inquire about the name change at which point he can respond by saying he changed his mind

I did not go with my spouse. However my spouse was outside the building in case they asked for her.
My I-751 was approved in May 2022 without any interview. And my citizenship interview notice mentioned who I could get along with me to the interview (interpreter, attorney and assistance for disabled). I think because of COVID they must have stopped calling US Citizen spouses unless evidence provided is not enough for them. I assume my application sufficed for showing I am still married and they dint have any questions for my spouse.
All the best!!

Do you need your birth country passport for the interview? My husbands Colombian passport expired in May and the consulate in Orlando and Miami has no appointments until next year. He was able to snag an appointment at the Atlanta consulate for late August. So all he has right now is his expired passport and GC.

You need the passport you used to enter the USA n what you sent as an original copy of document expired and unexpired. My passport expires In July but I sent it off to get renewed last month. I tried doing it in January/February but they rejected my photos because my country has strict laws. I’m hoping I would receive them both in time for whenever I’m scheduled. But yes they tell us to bring everything that we submitted and emphasized that the passport be brought too.

When you see people who applied after you getting interviews it’s disheartening. Especially when they’re at offices that are quoted longer waits than our office. Disheartened but not stressed.

I really don’t know but with 3yrs rule early citizenship is based on marriage so I guess they review stuff for viability; just my assumption. I don’t think it makes anything go faster though. Cases may be different based on what is presented.

CG&LGG reacted to Dashinka in Forgot to list closed-loop cruise on N-400
The IO will review the travel history updates to the N400 at the interview, so you can update it then. My wife had forgotten about a traffic ticket when she submitted, she explained it at the interview and it was no big deal,
Good Luck!

I wouldn't stress it. I totally overlooked a trip I took right after getting my residency. At the interview I was asked about it and then the light bulb went off and I told the officer I totally forgot about that trip. She amended my application and I signed to it. Today I became a citizen. So don't sweat it.

Don't skip any question. If you're processing Naturalization based on the 3 year rule, in the N-400 form, on part one, choose 1.B., and if you're filing under the 5 year rule, in the N-400 Form, in part 1, choose 1.A.
