I know that section 8 is a means tested benefit but what about affordable housing programs? I tried looking up the information and I can't find an answer. All I could find was that public housing and affordable housing is not the same thing.

Is it possible to be a PR in both Canada and US?
I am a Canadian citizen that was living in Quebec and moved under the K1 visa in August 2017. I was only able to go back to Canada in June 2018 when I got my GC. I had someone in Canada do my Canadian taxes, told them my new married name, the date I left and for some reason they didn't follow my instructions...at all. So I found out this month that Quebec and Canada still considers me a single permanent resident smh. I have also been traveling back and forth every month since June to Quebec to do self employed work so I know I will have to do my Canadian taxes again for 2018.
Should I renounce my Canadian permanent residency?
TIA

If you want to be absolutely sure about your status you can get the I-551 stamp in your passport. You can also call USCIS and ask about your A#. But I really don't see any reason for concern given that you were let into the country with this GC (they must have run it through their system). So the problem is either on the DHS' end, updating some external systems late, or on the DMV's end.
You have the right to obtain a NYS ID card (if you meet all requirements) and if this issue takes too long you may have a legal ground to file a complaint for status discrimination (don't know NY laws though).
Yea I know my status for my green card is fine. I was just confused as to why the DMV couldn't confirm my green card. I'm thinking about doing the whole Infopass thing to see if USCIS has an explanation on their end. I can't get a Square account and I think it's because I don't have a state ID

Sounds like they couldn't confirm your identity for some reason. If you entered the country with this GC you shouldn't worry about it.
NY has a strange new system that I don't really know anything about (I remember the old one at DMV) so I can't help you with this one. But at least you can be assured your GC is perfectly fine
Good to know I don’t have to worry about my green card! The new system explanation makes sense. I just don’t want to have to go back to the DMV every 2 weeks for no reason 😕

I've would think they probably need more than just the green card to enter you in the database as new to sum up the missing info?
Might have to bring the other stuff, passport, birth certificate, etc.?
Did they not tell you anything else to do? Maybe that person didn't know what to do about the situation?
I brought everything else. Lease, bank statement, my Canadian passport, marriage certificate and etc. They said they couldn’t do anything because my green card couldn’t be verified.
They said to “wait and come back in 2 weeks I guess?” and they had no idea what’s going on.

I'm not sure where to post this but I got my green card in June from a K1 visa and decided to go do my NYS ID card yesterday. They said i couldn't do it because nothing came up when they swiped my green card in the system. I've travelled out of the country with the card and TSA was able to see what they needed to see by swiping my GC. How long do i have to wait to do my state ID card?

If you still want to meet new friends outside of work i highly recommend the app Bumble. They have a section for finding friends! I know it's weird to have a dating app on your phone while being married lol but it's amazing! I'm also introverted and shy and i was able to meet 5 new friends that have the same interests as me and I still hang out with them from time to time months later.

I'd call USCIS just to make sure it won't be a big deal.
I meant to say the dash wasn't there (both names are on the card) but I called and they said it was fine! Thank you

How long does it usually take to get the green card after it says ''your card has been delivered''?

Hello, I never posted here because I originally sent my package in January. However, we got a rejection notice and had to send it back so our NOA1 is Feb 20th.
I got my interview last week and my approval letter yesterday and my green card is currently being delivered. I was originally supposed to be in Queens, NY where they are still processing June 2016 but I guess they transferred us to New York City where the processing is very similar. I was not expecting all of this to happen this soon but I'm glad! A lot of people from January are also getting their EAD/AP right now.

Just did my interview at the NYC office! The appointment was at 9:45pm and there were like 20 people in the room with us. We got called an hour later by a nice lady. We got sworn in, she took my biometrics and pretty much asked us about our marriage, how many times did I visit the states since birth, what family I had in the states, If my spouse was working, who came to the wedding, if I was working, since when have we been together, our different addresses since I moved here. There were random questions here and there to see if I was a criminal or not.
She looked at me and my spouse's birth certificate, marriage certificate, bank statements (I only printed out the 1st page of 4-5 months to show it was a joint account but because I didn't bring every single page, she asked a lot of questions about our transactions), our pictures, text messages and my spouse's paychecks of the last 3 months. She ended up only keeping the pictures and text messages.
She ended the interview by telling us that our approval letter for the 2 year green card will be sent in the next 30 days.

Is a certified copy of your marriage document really necessary for the interview? Or can I just photocopy?

My aos interview is on May 29th and I plan to travel (New York to Florida) on June 2nd. Will that cause problems at the airport?
