We did in 2011. I did put the previous A number on the petition, I did say I had previously sponsored my wife.
We were assigned new A number on the IV and the green card she got had a different number than the original card.
Interesting because my A-number stayed the same. I wonder if they maybe assign new A-numbers if the visa category changes, i.e. coming to the US on a K1-Visa the first time, then on a spousal visa the second time

I agree with the advice given.
Just FYI: my husband also used his voter registration for absentee ballot as evidence, which helped. But he had also maintained his bank account and we have a kid. -

Hello,
I am a German citizen, my husband is an American. We have lived in the US from 2008-2014 and have done the green card process successfully before.
We returned to Germany in 2014 with the intent to stay here, so I gave up my green card in 2018 using form i-407 because I obviously didn't live in the US anymore and we couldn't afford to pay the re-entry fee each time we visited my husband's family in the US.
Now everything has changed and we are planning on moving back to the US. Never thought this would happen, but, oh well.... life is life.
Has anyone in this forum done the same thing, reapplied for a green card after giving it up?
Here's my question:
We are currently filling out form I-130 and are asked under part 4 question 1 to give my Alien-Registration number (if any).
Do I put down my previous A-number?
Thanks in advance.
We are also hoping to file with DCF in Frankfurt but not getting our hopes up.
Dorothea
Yup. Exact same situation. Just completed the visa process last year and moved back stateside last month. Not a problem whatsoever. The CO simply asked me during the interview why I had abandoned my LPR status and so did CPB at my POE because they also saw my old visa in my passport (it’s still the same, had it for 9 years now). Your A-number should still be the same because mine hasn’t changed.
And I believe we also put a date down for the first petition that we kinda guesstimated. We remembered the month and year, but not the exact date. Don’t worry, it’ll all work out just fine Good luck! -

I just send a message to that email.
Ceac says that my case is ready for interview and was last updated on the day of my interview.
Just read that now. Then your passport isn’t ready yet and they’re still printing your visa or finalizing something (called “administrative processing”). It needs to update and say “issued” for it to go into the mail.
edit: the consulate was also closed on Thursday (epiphany) because they follow German and American holidays (quite nice, right? unless you’re waiting for documents). The officer probably used Friday as an extra day off (Brückentag). Don’t worry, it’s just been a few days. I’m sure you’ll have your passport+visa by the end of the week.

Hi everyone,
I had my interview at the Frankfurt consulate last Wednesday. Everyone was very friendly and it all went well.
Before the interview I set my passport to be delivered to my home address on ustraveldocs. When I tried to login now to track my visa status/passport I realized that I don't have an account with them.is that even possible after signing up for delivery?I got my interview scheduled by nvc, so there is no interview in the system of ustraveldocs.
I created an account just to see if there an option to enter my case number or the UID, but I can't find way to do so. Any tips on how I could track it ?
Thanks everyone, this whole process really seems to stay confusing until the very end 😔
Yeah, nothing showed up in my account either (I still had the same one after the interview though). I just tracked my status on CEAC where it said “issued” and that my passport was ready for pickup/delivery. The next day I got notification emails from ustraveldocs and UPS with a tracking number. Package got delivered the following day. I hope this helps.

If it says on their website that you should bring photocopies of the documents (usually of the civil ones) you uploaded on CEAC, then yes, you should. I know I had to for Frankfurt. They do have e-files, but always follow their rules. Better be safe than sorry. Good luck!

My husband has his interview on the 11th and his interview on the 25th!
Do you mean his medical exam on the 11th? I’m confused.

Each case is separate and both need the same supporting documents
Always just submit anything and everything Immigration asks for or case will go no further
the documents should have your case # , both names and both DOB's in upper right hand corner just to make sure they stay in your files (even when submitting them online thru your case # account )
and send the original with the proper English translations
Labeling docs is not necessary anymore now that NVC processes everything electronically. Years ago, you had to mail docs to NVC, that’s correct. But now you just upload everything on the CEAC portal where each intending immigrant has their own account, so docs can’t get confused anymore.
@Tay123 every resubmission is treated like a first-time submission, so you get placed at the end of the queue again. Look up the current NVC processing times on their website to get an approximate date. I also suggesting joining a thread (e.g. NVC December 2021 submissions).

If you read ALL the I-864 instructions you'll notice that it is 3 times for the spouse of a US Citizen, but 5 times for any other immigrant sponsored. 😉
Gotcha. Thanks for the info! I stand corrected 😊

Note that the liquid assets must be comfortably over three times the required income.
I thought it was five times
@shytown we also used assets (five times the required income for a household size of three people) and that got accepted just fine by NVC. No questions asked at the interview.

Thanks for this info - which kind of evidence are they looking for of me reestablishing a US domicile? And if I understood correctly, this means that there's no particular expectation that I already live in the US, but rather that I have the intent to live in the US?
Hi there. Yes, intent was sufficient for us, too. We uploaded my husband’s bank statement showing the US address he’s maintained, my MIL’s affidavit attesting that we’re going to live with her for the first few weeks until we find a place, our child’s CRBA (dual citizen) with the intent of enrolling her in an American school and my husband’s voter registration for absentee ballot. It was all accepted by NVC and we had no issues at the interview last week.
There is so much more you can use such as car titles, car insurance, mortgage payment, property, a job offer, email inquiring about daycare or enrollment in school, etc … Whenever you get to the NVC stage and fill out the I-864 form for affidavit of support, have a look at the instructions/FAQ section regarding the intent to reestablish domicile to see more examples.

There's no enforcement here outside of vaccine requirements and PCR tests. For air travel, PCR tests are done prior to boarding at outside labs that each person has to do on their own, there's no additional testing that is required after, not even rapid testing. I assume if someone has obvious symptoms like a fever or coughing they might get extra scrutiny at the airport/border but as long as you have a negative test/vaccine paperwork, there's nothing else they look for as far as I know.
It appears to me they have put 100% faith in the PCR tests. If you have a negative result, you are cleared for entry. If you get a positive result, you have to wait to fly until you get a negative result. I have not heard of any self-isolation or quarantine whatsoever happening here in the States for travelers. No restriction on movement at all.
I suppose even if someone here got Covid, they still can't force that person to quarantine. They can tell you to self isolate/stay at home and maybe you'll get banned from going to a doctor's office/certain places for a few weeks but there's no way to really enforce it here from what I've seen. There's no field hospital or hospital wing where they are officially quarantining people. There were some field hospitals set up at the very early days of the pandemic (so years ago) and I think they all stopped functioning a long time ago. Only the very sick end up in hospital quarantines here.
Lufthansa only requires rapid tests for boarding US-bound flights.

Pretty much as soon as your payment will have been accepted. Once the IV fees show up as paid on CEAC, you’ll be able to upload and submit all the required civil documents, e.g. the intending immigrant’s PCC.
-
Sorry, but you get put at the end of the line again once you resubmit. Resubmission is treated just like a first-time submission. You can find the current NVC processing times on their website or join a thread on here (November 2021 NVC submissions or something like that).
Once your documents got accepted, you’re documentarily qualified (DQ’d) and NVC will forward your case to the Frankfurt consulate and schedule your interview. It takes 3-4 weeks to get the appointment letter from NVC after being DQ’d and then another 2-3 weeks until the interview. Good luck! -

My point was that it won't take 'well over a year'.
Yup, exactly. From what I’ve seen, DCF in Frankfurt takes like 2-3 months. But maybe it’ll even be faster since the husband is in the military.
I hope OP hasn’t lost too much time yet by assuming she wouldn’t need an immigrant visa. -
Don’t get discouraged! We were also excited that we got assigned to NSC first and were devastated when we found out that we got transferred to CSC - also without any notice - because their processing time was between 21-29 months. NSC had a processing time of 3-7 months at that time and we still got approved at CSC after 7 months in the end. Good luck!

The status of all documents are accepted. The one that is not is my pay stub, but it was asked for after all my documents were accepted.
That doesn’t matter. It still means you’re not documentarily qualified until they got everything they want. When you are, you actually get an email from NVC with that subject line and a new message from NVC on CEAC reading “documentarily qualified”.
Your resubmission means that you’ll have to wait for NVC to review end-of-September submissions, which could currently take until January (due to holidays coming up) if they don’t speed up again. With every resubmission you get placed at the end of the queue again. -
Just correct the mistakes regarding your education at the interview by telling the CO about it. Following the advice given above also wouldn’t be so bad either.

For proof of relationship, you must use a marriage certificate in this case.
For domicile, DL or state ID, utility bills, bank statement, something showing their address. -

Ensure that the DNA test is done by the country embassy's approved facility. For us, the CRBA process and passport took about three weeks after submitting the documents in Vietnam.
Wow! For us, it took about 3 months due to COVID backlogs/lockdowns.
@Adamsmith Depending on how backlogged the embassy is, I’d get started on the CRBA as soon as possible.

Sorry, not really active on here anymore after the move and just saw this now. I was referring to the "case is being reviewed as of month/day". The date changed in our case from a January one to a July one. Hope this helps.
