    Two things come to mind:
    1. It seems you know what the right thing to do is. You're not going to find many people on these forums telling you to get married (without following the legal protocol, with a K-1) when you know what your girlfriend did was illegal.
    2. This is a little off-topic and maybe even nosy, but if your "girlfriend" makes such life-altering decisions without even informing you...are you sure she's really your girlfriend and that you want to marry this person? How do you know this is the first time she's done this?

But not for time spent in the US, as Penguin said. The embassy/consulate in Russia should have clear instructions about in what circumstances you need a police certificate.

sma1488 reacted to Nich-Nick in Fiancé beneficiary has serious medical developments, what are our options?
I have known in the past where London has sent out a letter six months after a case arrived there with no action from the beneficiary saying basically-- do you intend to apply for a visa or what? So that is some delay right there that could be factored in.
    London website FAQs --
What if I cannot travel during the validity period of the immigrant visa?
You should return the unused visa to the Immigrant Visa Branch with a letter explaining why you were unable to travel. Depending on the reasons for you not using the visa, it may be possible to re-issue you with a new visa on payment of new visa processing fees.
It says immigrant but i believe it extends to a fiancé visa. I wonder how he would fare at a medical exam to even get a visa that could be extended? Liver transplant is major and it's not like getting over bronchitis so they can retake the chest x-ray. I know you must be devastated with worry now, but getting to the US might need to take the back burner until you have a clearer picture of what's going on with his health. Refiling a petition is not a huge deal in the scheme of the seriousness of needing a transplant. See how it plays out after using all the stalling time you can. Maybe the "might need" is a false alarm and other medical procedures will take care of him. I think your bad news is too new to make a logical plan today.

People should use birth control during immigration if separation during pregnancy is going to be an issue. Totally preventable and you won't get an expedite for it.

You're free to disagree, but I stand by my original point. The immigration process can be intimidating and difficult even for people with full proficiency in English and who are aware of how bureaucratic the US government can be. Anyone who's tried to obtain residency in a foreign country can surely relate. Immigration lawyers often speak English as well as the language of their clienteles, and that is especially true for Spanish in Miami (where the OP is from). Also remember that it is natural for anyone who has had a bad experience with their lawyer to complain about it on here, while those who are satisfied have less reason for sharing their experience because their process went smoothly. That's why I said in my post that if you're going to use a lawyer, make sure it's a GOOD one. That means they are in constant communication with you and don't leave you guessing about what an RFE might have been for and when/if they might have responded to it.
I agree that this site has an abundance of resources even for people with limited proficiency in English. However, that assumes that a) the people who need that help actually FIND this site and b) that they receive the assistance they need from other users.

I would add a word of caution to what everyone is saying here about not using a lawyer: if you are not proficient in English (I say this because your original post was not very well-written), then you may have trouble understanding the K-1 visa process and all of the requirements. In that case, it may be necessary to use a lawyer, but at the very least you should research and find out who are the good ones and who are the bad ones. I'd imagine in a city like Miami you have a lot of both, so it's just a question of identifying which is which.
