No need for a background check/ police cert for the USA, the government will do it's own check.

Police certificates are needed on interview stage, you dont need it for the first package.

But not for time spent in the US, as Penguin said. The embassy/consulate in Russia should have clear instructions about in what circumstances you need a police certificate.

USCIS, NVC and the Embassy do the background checks for you. The beneficiary needs police certs from all countries lived in where they meet the criteria to obtaining them.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
