it’s primarily for people who haven’t yet received a stamp in their passport proving their U.S. permanent residence, or whose previous fingerprints had a smudge or other issue such that USCIS needs to redo them. The acronym ADIT stands for Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System. It means that USCIS is calling you in for a brief walk-in visit in order to collect the information, photos, and fingerprints that it needs in order to create your actual green card.

If you can't get your call escalated to an actual Immigration Officer from the know-nothing call-screeners, set an InfoPass appointment and bring everything that you have. If the person to whom you first speak can't help, ask for the supervisor.

Mariana M. got a reaction from Na&John in New way of fixing not found I-94 online
    Hello,
My POE was November 27th, and until today my I-94 has been "not found" online. That's all my AOS depends on.
Right before Christmas I called the CBP agency at the airport to correct that, they told me to go over there. I went there and they told me that as of the day before this request now has to be put through e-mail. They just gave me a paper with an e-mail address (which the officer referred to as "website", as in "go to this website and they'll help you"), and I never really understood why they just didn't tell me that over the phone. Clearly they were still getting familiar with this new procedure.
The day after I went to get my SSN. At the SSN office they told me that they were going to put an internal request that might fix the problem for me, so I never bothered to e-mail them.
I got my SSN card, and the I-94 was still not found.
I e-mailed them, they e-mailed me back the list of required documents, and I sent them back 6 days ago. I still haven't gotten a response or confirmation.
I just decided to post this to inform whomever may have to do this from now on and to ask if anyone has done it, and if so, how long it took.
    Thanks!

    Just an update:
I went to Rio to pick it up, ran like crazy, got back home and boarded my original flight.
I can't explain how stressful it was. I was very, very lucky that it worked out.
NEVER BUY TICKETS BEFORE HAVING YOUR VISA IN HAND

Simply filtering out a segment of data would remove useful information from general consumption. A better approach would be the introduction of a view showing processing metrics by service center combined with the beneficiary's country. So, if someone is having their K-1 petition processed at CSC, TSC, or VSC, they can select their respective service center, then choose their country of origin. I think that the results would be quite telling, and make it easier to set expectation based upon scenarios more closely resembling their own.

All the CSC filers that put TSC as their processing center (confusing TSC with the Texas Lockbox) also mess up the estimates, there's probably way more of those errors than anything else. Try not to get too hung up on the estimates.

I know people personally who had mentioned at interview they want to leave immediately with their spouse, fiance' or soon as possible and had their Visa done faster.
Why would you think they would delay you because you have tickets. Also many airlines are kind to the fact that things changed. You may have to pay a fee but look into that.
Someone for Canada had their Visa done right there at the embassy (The embassy messed up and they had to come back after interview for fingerprinting again) but it shows things can be done. I had my passport made sealed and handed to me in Lagos Nigeria while I wait. You have to ask, make some noise got to embassy beg and beg again.

My fiancé had to change his flight and the 24hour thing works, but they make it really confusing he had to talk to few people before talk with a good employee who explained everything and helped him with that. So good luck! And I hope everything goes well and you don't need to deal with airlines companies.

I fly United an awful lot, and they have told me again and again that I can change the dates on my tickets, and it's $120 to do so. They also have a policy on 'awful circumstances' like a death in the family - and they will refund the $120 (you still have to pay it when you change the dates) on sending them the death certificate - I imagine you could send details of the Visa and interview if they needed it instead.
So...I would ring up united (sooner rather than later) and change the dates before you explode from worry !
(edit: um...I think that's $120 per ticket sorry)

    Holy sticky mess Batman!
My 2-cent worth: Wait until you have confirmation that your visa is on the way, so you can gauge when it will arrive. With that information you can call the airline and try to convince them to let you change the dates, for a penalty. You may need to do some crying, begging and grovelling.
Another possibility is that once you find out your visa has been mailed, you can try and contact the courier company and attempt to intercept and retrieve the package at their warehouse or distribution center. You may need to have the courier put a hold on it and get on a plane to Rio to pick it up in person.
Good luck! I hope your visa gets to you on time for you to get on that plane on the 26th.

    Hi,
I wouldn't mention anything about the ticket because I don't think they care about it since, as you said before, they recommend not to make any trip arrangement. At the same time I don't think they would delay on purpose, I guess they would be fair and process in their normal speed. I know how bad it is when we do know we didn't take the best decision and people keep on saying Ohh you shouldn't..I told you so. YEAH, WE ALREADY KNOW but our excitement is huge and sometimes hard to control.
HOPEFULLY they will work tomorrow because so many things in Dtown Rio will be closed (I work in Dtown and my office is not going to fully work) and simultaneously I would e-mail them explaining and saying your medical results got there on the 6th. Couple weeks ago I e-mailed them due to an issue with my I-94 record and they replied me couple hours later, so I guess you could try that.
    Good luck!!

And one more thing: I would try and have your fiancé calling the airline company! For so many times I bought non-refundable tickets and when I called customer service in the US they changed according to my needs. He can try and explain the situation as it is and see what they say! Going to the gate is also another try. Last time I was in the States this lady from United gave me additional two days with my boo with no issues!

Just a suggestion: call the airline and ask about the terms and conditions of the ticket for that fare class. i.e., tell them 'I purchased a mid-December ticket for $X, but may have to change dates, so how much are the change and rebook fees?' Ask, 'How many days do I have to cancel the existing flight before incurring a penalty?'. Also ask them, 'If I cancel the trip now and make the funds I paid for the trip a credit to my account, how much it would cost to rebook for later dates?'
At one time, all airlines used to have refundable/changeable tickets, but they came with a premium price because of the benefits of being able to change one's flight dates and incur no new charges or receive a full refund in the case of cancellation. It's been 20 years since I've been an agent, but you may want to look into cancelling what you have now and transferring the money you've already paid into one of those refundable/changeable tickets, if your airline still has that service.

Give the airline a call, explain your situation, and see what your options are. Know that you'll probably pay a fee for the agent to change it over the phone, but it may be well worth it not to have to "eat" the whole price if you can't go on the dates you've already bought.

    Best of luck!

Someone's girlfriend or boyfriend is eligible to receive a fiance visa if they a) are legally free and able to marry upon the potential issuance of the visa 2) intend to marry within 90 days upon arrival in the United States. That mean her boyfriend qualifies. A proposal, nor engagement ring, nor wedding plans are needed (which in your mind causes someone to be a fiance). Your biggest error here is blowing the person off and not giving real advice, instead strictly interpreting the definition of fiance which is misleading to say the least. Saying her boyfriend doesn't qualify and leaving it at that is disingenuous. He does qualify. All that is needed is a mere letter of intent to marry in the application and, provided that he hasn't been divorced and is not currently married, he under the law is considered a fiance.

Oh come on, it really is just a label. I've kept calling my partner my boyfriend because fiancé is just a word that doesn't suit us. Will probably even keep calling him that once we're married. Legally speaking he's my fiancé because of the letters of intent we signed, but what we call each other is up to us.

    Print out your I-94 info > https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html
Follow this guide for getting the SSN > http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
Follow this guide for AOS > http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
The fees are listed here > http://www.uscis.gov/i-485
The fees for the I-765(EAD-work authorization) and I-131(AP-advance parole for travel) are waived when filed with a pending I-485, so include both of those too. It takes about 60-90 days to receive the EAD/AP combo card, which will allow you to work(along with an SSN) and re-enter the US when traveling abroad while waiting for the green card approval.
You need all the supporting documents for each form as well, so read the instructions for each one. You can also search here on VJ for what to include with each form if you get stumped. There are also example forms here on VJ you can look at when filling out the forms. They can be helpful.

The first thing I would do is ask the lawyer to show me the hard copy of the RFE and make sure that they responded appropriately. It seems like every lawyer horror story involves them not responding to an RFE appropriately (or at all). It's unbelievable and inexcusable, really.

    Here's the deal:
    1. You can come to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), no tourist visa (B2) required. You can then get married in April in the USA, but you must then return home, and file for a spousal visa. Once you apply for the spousal visa, you must stay in your home country until you are awarded the spousal visa. During this time, however, your fiancee can visit you and you can also get remarried in New Zealand for your family and friends. The spousal visa process takes about 12-14 months but you are given a green card in under a month after entering the USA.
    or
    2. Enter the USA on your VWP, enjoy some time together and return home. Your fiancee then applies for a 129F fiance visa. During that time you could still try to enter the USA under VWP until the K-1 is approved, but you cannot get married. You must wait until the K-1 is approved, at which time you can enter the USA to be married. This process takes about 4-8 months, but could take up to a year depending on the Visa Service Center where your application resides.
    or
    3. Get married in your home country and then apply for the spousal visa, wait the 12-14 months and re-marry in the USA.

You may want to add a cover letter with your application, and on that, draw their attention to the fact that you have submitted a separate page with explanation/additional information relating to question x.

I found that question on the form slightly amusing. With the time scales within which they are {not] working, many people are going to move address anyway, yet the K1 is for a visa for a couple who intend to get married within 90 days of entering the US, so I would have thought it a no-brainer that both spouses would live together. I sometimes wonder what goes through the minds of the people who set out government forms.

Some people here are on California Service Center and mistakenly put Texas Service Center on their timelines. That messes estimatives up.
Some people do get approved earlier than others, though, for many reasons.
I've personally found the timeline estimative very frustrating. I advise you not to look at it.
Your best bet is to keep an eye on filers from July and see what percentage of them are getting approved. When lots of people start to report approvals, you have a better chance too.
    Good luck!

Nowhere does it say that you can't visit. You just might be asked to show ties to your home country. They do have the power to deny your entry if they don't think you're convincing, but it seems that most people are successful in that.
If you're still in doubt, simply call USCIS

I can see why this is confusing, I think maybe the website should be configured differently.
The thing is that there is your user information and your timeline information.
You both have CSC on your timeline, correctly.
On your user information, though, it still shows TSC. You can see it right there, below your picture.
Click on your name on the top right corner, go to "my settings", then scroll down to "Immigration info". That's where TSC is selected.
