I am with you on part of this I am. But I think they will argue  and ultimately we will be at the same place we are now in 3 weeks. But hey I can stand another 2 days off during the week because the President hasn't signed the bill yet so I am still out of work tomorrow it looks like.

I found out today I am "mission essential" so everyone here should be happy I worked for free today instead of sitting at home on my lazy government worker butt.

Never said I think the US should open immigration more.  If anything I think a great deal of avenues should be closed.  No to AOS unless in extreme circumstances.  No to joint sponsors.  No to siblings.

Most of the US is bilingual already.  I rarely buy a package of something without spanish written on it.  I do believe you should speak the language of the country you move to.  I expect people who move to Canada to speak english or french, I would expect people to learn english when moving to the USA.  I've had to change how I say things even to be understood.  LOL

Didn't say it was your choice, but you seem to be proud of the fact that you were paid to stay home while my husband had to go to work. :D  I'll say it to your face.  I'll hold my loaded AR15 while I do it too. :D

just went reread my post and and I failed to see where I said I was proud to stay home and get paid. I'm an aircraft mechanic for the Air Force. I'm not sure why I'm considered non-essential and your husband is not. But thanks for judging me as a lazy piece of #######.

He was back payed last time too....  Just because my husband's job is considered essential and yours isn't so that means he has to go to work and you get to sit on your butt getting free pay?  If that makes you happy to be lazy, well enjoy your stereotype. :D  I'm sure you are.

FYI they're not REQUIRED to back pay you.  They can, but they are not required to.

Yea it was my choice to stay home on my lazy butt. The things people will say to a stranger while sitting safely behind their keyboard.

Then why are you arguing against me now?  (off topic as it is.)

My husband has to go to work without pay.  We're not military so there's no guarantee he WILL ever be paid for that time.   Pretty sure the shut down affects us more than most families here anyhow.

I was furloughed last go around and got back pay for the days i didn't even work. Pretty much a free vacation. Don't hate the player.....

No one has yet explained to me why these furloughed "nonessential" governmental employees are so essential.

And ("Surprahz, Sarjent Carter!") it's the weekend and most government workers aren't working anyway!

Here is an example; national parks are not an essential thing to have but they are nice to have. I mean no one is going to die if they can't see Old Faithful shoot water into the air.       You got it crooked as usual. Is it that difficult? A nation in civil war described as a s* show is not the same thing as saying someones country is a s* hole. The words actually have definitions you can look up. What Obama said means a situation or event marked by chaos or controversy. What Trump said means an extremely dirty, shabby, or otherwise unpleasant place. There's really no reason for anyone to be confused about this. It's one of those obvious blatant false equivalence's that really shouldn't have been missed.

I winder if Trump was refereing to India?

Reagan's biggest contribution to ending the Soviet Union was supporting and arming groups like the Mujahideen. The consequences of that aspect of the Reagan doctrine are still being felt today. The Soviet Union would have ended with or without Reagan. It was crushed under it's own weight and most of that pressure came from within. We give him too much credit for a truly historic speech without acknowledging how destructive many of his policies towards ending the Soviet Union ended up being.

I think it's fair to say Reagan help speed the collapse of the Soviet Union (in any way he could), but the debate should not be over Reagan's policies towards the Soviet Union, it should be whether the immense collateral damage was worth it for something that was going to happen anyway.

Yea its too bad Carter didn't get reelected. I'm sure he would have shown those evil Soviets a thing or two and the economy would have surely flourished as well. LOL

Wondering how this thread will turn when it is determined that a fall into a ravine and not a pack of stone wielding illegal immigrants turns out to be the cause of death and injury? Perhaps the build a wall crowd can claim the material for the wall will eliminate ravines and is therefore still needed?

Won't change a thing. We still need to protect our country from people flooding in and taxing our overburdened schools, medical, and welfare system.

How many people still shoot muzzleloaders? I'm sure collectors have them, but are they actually in working order and used with any frequency? Outside of war reenactments.

You are confusing antique flint lock muskets to modern muzzle loaders which dont look much different then a modern bolt action rifle.

I am ready to put down some money because I want a good rifle. I already have a AK-47 and I want a .308 to help even things out.

6.5 caliber rifles are the new 308. 6.5x47 Lapua, 6.5 Creedmoor, .260 Remington, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, etc. 6.5 caliber bullets have a higher ballistic coeffecient than 308 caliber bullets.
