Chez&Rick got a reaction from jil & ben in Does status "Issued" in CEAC means my visa is already for dispatched?
Hi! I was just wondering if the status "Issued" in CEAC means that my visa is already for 2go pick-up. Can I call US embassy to confirm if my visa is already available? Anyone have US embassy number?
Im planning to call USEM Friday next week if I am not going to receive any text from 2go by next week.
    Thanks in advance!

Insurance should be able to use a copy. If you can, get at least a few copies of it and keep in different safe locations. There are not many times you should have to send in the original or certified copy of your marriage certificate since most will accept copies of it.

Alot of delays with Air China Flyts. The pilots can make up most of time in the air. So it works out to departing later but arriving almost on time. I have had 2 unexpected layovers at PEK one 6 hours and one 26 hours. Winter time bad weather for the long one. So i would have a carry on with the right stuff to spend a night handy. You should be ok, But I go thru Hong Kong now.

I wouldn't be too nervous, that is a pretty long layover time. Just be early for your first flight and you should be fine. Any problems are out of your control so try not to worry about it. In general there isn't security checks at connecting flights but depending how the airport is laid out that might not be true. My connecting flight in Japan once they had us get off the plane go through security(very fast not like here in the US) and then re-board the same plane at another gate. My fiance had someone helping that she met on the plane, most people are helpful when traveling. Don't be nervous about the flight though, it's just like getting in a big taxi. I know it's hard sometimes, I use to never worry but then I went a day early to a flight once and realized how easy it is to make a mistake in the process. I suppose a day early is better than a day late, although it cost me $2500 to upgrade to first class the only available ticket and the original flight was $150... I should have waited but I'm not very patient. Good luck!

We submitted everything as well but they ask us to bring w2's and 1040's together with the tax transcripts. Better bring it than be sorry if put under AP juts because you dont have it when they asked for it. Better be ready than sorry.
Bring it to the interview i mean.

The copy of the final divorce should be available from the court where the divorce court was or the court that replaced it. Divorce papers are a matter of public record and you can order a new copy. Claiming the court can't find it is a little fishy. The local court here has copies of divorces from over 30 years ago. Are you sure your fiance really got divorced ?

All you control is making sure you have all your documents ready when they are needed and you send in.
The timelines and USCIS and NVC times are very fluid. Meaning its ever changing. What took me 3 months to get through USCIS in 2012 is almost a year or more due to all kinds of issues. It could get better or worst. No politician, no lawyer no nobody can predict what will happen tomorrow or next month. All you can do is have your things together and send in when its time. And hope and pray and believe.

Chez&Rick reacted to notusinganymore in Positive TB test
How can you be positive and negative at the same time?
If she has positive results then she will go through the 6 month program.
If she is negative then she won't undergo the 6 month program.
There are some instances that if a family member living with her or she has been in contact everyday has TB then she will receive a 6 month prophylactic drug called Isoniazid. So far though I haven't heard anyone here in the forum having to go through that. It is either your result is positive or negative.
The reason she was called back is because her X-ray might have some "probable" TB and not positive. To determine positive TB they do sputum test (results released after 8-10 weeks) then if tested positive then and only then will medication start.
Hope this helps and also good luck to your mom.

Chez&Rick reacted to Darnell in not paying USCIS Immigrant Fee before leaving for US
Is perfectly fine to come through a POE without paying that fee in advance.
The passport gets a stamp at the POE, that endorses the visa to be used as a temporary I-551 document, a temporary green card, for a year.
It's also perfectly fine to pay the fee after the POE date. IMO, it's easier, as the two humans are there shoulder to shoulder in front of a computer.
HINT: there's some papers attached to the OUTSIDE of the 'do not open' envelope. One of them is the 'Immigrant Data Summary' Page. COPY THIS PAGE, scan it, email it to yerself before going through the POE. The POE takes this page, and it's got all the info you need, to sucessfully file for a greencard and pay for it, at the ELIS website.

There are no real numbers, but it is well-known by both the USCIS as well as the US State Department that a large number of K-1 applicants are marrying Americans for the sole purpose of immigrating to the US. This is especially true for applicants from third world countries, Ghana included. I'm not saying this case is fraud, but the sad reality is that the state department (consulate/embassy) rejects all applications in which they are not fully satisfied that the relationship is bona fide - This inevitably affects a large number of legitimate couples as well.In order to determine the legitimacy of the marriage, the interviewing officer at the embassy (who will be handling your fiance's K-1 application) will make a subjective decision as to the legitimacy of your relationship, and how likely it is to be real, or a sham in order for the foreigner to gain immigration benefits. The burden of proof is always on the intending immigrant.
The consular officers usually tend to look for red flags, especially in third world countries (where immigrants are statistically more likely to commit fraud for purposes of immigrating). "Unusual" relationships are usually scrutinized:
    1. Relationships with huge language barriers.
    2. Relationships with large age gaps, especially in which the female is significantly older than the male.
    3. Relationships in which the couple has not spent significant amounts of time together.
    4. Relationships with big, often "socially unacceptable" cultural differences.
    5. Relationships in which the foreign fiance(e)/spouse is from a "high-fraud" country.
If any of the above are true, it does not mean the application will automatically be rejected, but the more red flags, the more difficult it becomes to show that a real, ongoing relationship exists. If more than one of the above is true, it becomes increasingly difficult to get a visa.
Again, I'm not saying this to be mean, or accusing you or your fiance of anything, I'm saying it to prepare you, because the better prepared you are, the better the outcome will be.

The difficulty of obtaining a passport won't help much, as the CIS will not see it as an indefinite restriction which is out of your control. In their view, you can always travel once the balance is below $2,500. Unfortunately, the USCIS does not care if you're ineligible to be meet now, if it is likely you will be in a year or two. The hardship waiver is for situations in which you are unable to travel, indefinitely, for extraordinary reasons beyond your control, and that you cannot change.
Again, being the primary caregiver and legal guardian for a very ill patient is your best bet. Your friend's illness should be explained in great detail. If what you explained here was in the initial I-129f package, and notarized by a healthcare professional, you may have a shot.
Keep in mind that it must be established that your friend would face extraordinary, extreme hardship if you should be gone even for a week or two. I can only speculate here, but seeing as she is taken care of in a nursing home, I do not think the CIS will grant the waiver. You do not only have a 2 year meeting requirement to overcome, but the inherent red flag that comes with an engaged couple who have never met in person. African consulates are notoriously difficult to satisfy of anything, and even if your petition does slip past the USCIS, the embassy will not issue any visa until they're satisfied that a bona fida, ongoing relationship exists - A very difficult endeavor for an applicant in Africa who has never met his/her fiancee in person.
I'd also like to add that the CIS will look at other possibilities before issuing a waiver. For example, you live in Texas, is there a reason you cannot meet in Mexico? If he is eligible for a tourist visa to Mexico, the CIS would rather tell you to get a passport and meet in Mexico. The $4,040 debt is not indefinite, and not beyond your control in the eyes of the CIS.
I'm not saying this to be mean, but the reality is that you will be much better off if you could find a way to meet in person. Keep in mind that you do not just have to get your petition through the USCIS, your fiance has to get his K-1 visa application through the Department of State, and while a possible waiver could waive the two year meeting requirement, it does not take away assumption of fraud.

I apologize if people were rude in other posts. That is not the purpose of this forum.
If you live in MI, the USCIS would probably ask themselves why you can't meet in Canada for even a day. If he ineligible for a tourist visa to Canada, that should then be shown.
I'm not trying to destroy your hopes. There is hope, absolutely, but difficult situations require careful planning.

No issued means the visa has been issued. That doesn't mean it's been printed and picked up by courier.
Track it on 2go's website or ustraveldocs website.
If you use 2go's website use the UID number from your appointment letter, your PP number OR MNL#. Try all 3
OR just wait for a text from 2go!
    Good luck!
