  1. Update

Haven't reached uscis or senator because of my schedule but I have a day off next week I will devote to it. Here's what I have so far and it's confusing.

Email notice Nov 8 2013 case at uscis in post decision activity to be reviewed.

Uscis case status: " initial review " dated Nov 8 2013 (but the status has always been in initial review but with last years date)

My nvc status is "ready" and explains how to make an embassy interview and it's dated one month AFTER our interview took place. Dated Oct 26 2013

I guess I have a lot of questions to ask. But if this is a reveal of their incompetence, I don't think I can trust their answers.

  2. I don't mean to keep kicking a dead horse but I found this info right here in our own vj so I guess what is happening in my case is pretty normal and standard procedure. And then they let it expire during the review. It went on to say to file a foia to dos and uscis for the co's notes but then many members replied there usually aren't any notes and the real reasons stay in the co's head. Here it is, in part

The following information is from an original post by VisaJourney Member KIYA in the Mid-east/North Africa Forum, Returning petitions to the US via 221g. Due to many non related discussions within the thread, this page was created to help those searching for information find the information more quickly.

Here is what is happens when a petition is returned:

221(g) is issued to beneficiary at conclusion of the interview stating the application and/or petition is being returned to the United States.

Petition is returned to the United States by the interviewing consulate for "further review" in what is called a diplomatic pouch.

Returned petition is received by the NVC. It is reviewed and entered into the fraud database by fraud management.

Returned petition is sent to the local service center where the petition was originally filed.

  3. As many know already because I've shared it many times, our k1 was denied st the interview on Sep 25. Today I got the following email from uscis. What does it mean? Is it just a standard reply or is there still hope for us

On November 8, 2013, a USCIS office received this case from the State Department with a request that we review it. We will notify you when we complete our review, or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

  4. I think considering they weren't convinced that it was a bonafide relationship, that your best bet is to get married, spend as much face time together between now and the next interview and Im sure everything will be fine. Were there any of the so-called "red flags"? which I really hate that term and the fact that they stereotype what a relationship should be and if it's not within what 'they' feel is the norm, then it must not be real! so craze.

That's what we're going to do. Get married and I'll be there when he's interviewed this time.
  5. Interview was Sep 25 and denied. Failure to convince co of bonafide relationship. I called nvc today to ask if they received our case back. (we are considered to be in admin processing right?) They said they have no info because it was forwarded to immigration and she gave me the number. When I call the number there are no options to talk to a person. We plan to marry and refile but I need to tie up loose ends and I need to find out why the denial. How do I find out? How do I get a person on the line? Thanks.

  6. Thanks. Won't be much sight seeing. We're both pretty broke. Last time I was there we just took walks, visited friends, cooked together and watched tv. Oh, and stayed up talking, talking, talking. A special evening out for us was walking around the corner for a beer or a soda. But when you're in love, even simple times are magical. Thanks again. I get tired just thinking about starting a process over, the forms, the money, the waiting. But then I remember the joy waiting at the end of the road. Thanks again.

  7. His family dont live in Ghana they came there for the wedding.we choose Ghana because it much safer and i was concern about going to Nigeria base on what I read on travelstate.gov.

Both he and i was legal there.

Reason y he thought it was a good interview the officer kept nodding her head and saying good good, commenting on pictures-this beach is nice where did u take this one.only to denied him in the end.he said the question was simple

I really didnt see this coming this is our first marriage for both of us or maybe am missing something....

The co that denied us was doing the exact thing... Nodding his head yes and saying good, good. I bet it's the same one. An older guy?
  8. If you made the proper posting of marriage before the wedding. If you did not they can declare that the relationship is for immigration purposes ( not a valid marriage ) We visited there and the lady in charge of the books that day and one of the guards were from the same area and told us so much. They gave us quite a tour and told us what days the embassy comes by to review the postings and make notes so they can check that the weddings are per Nigerian law and not something created on the fly for immigration purposes.

So in other words I need to be there for 21 days for the proper posting of the registry and the interview. And I can expect to have my wedding ceremony a day or two afterwards? My boss is not going to be happy when I ask for almost 4 weeks off work.

  9. Wow incredible,I didn't hear about this,I married my spouse @ festac registry in feburary I hope God sees me through.

I've been to festac. We walked there several times from his apartment. How long did your fiance need to stay in Nigeria for the wedding. I can not take a lot of days off from work.

  10. Well I did contact my senator and congressman and sent the authorization/consent forms and received no reply or acknowledgement. Grrrr. The government "shut down" just a couple days after our denial. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. The denial was Sep 25 so it's probably too late for them to intervene. I hope the percentage of approvals for the denied k1's that go back with a spousal visa is higher than the k1 approvals. All these replies are very helpful. Thank you. I'm sure I'll have more questions down the road. The trip seems far away in my mind. Not everyone in love is rich and I make many sacrifices to pursue this. And I'm sure we all do. I'm so not over my anger at the CO that interviewed. My blood boils every time I think about it. I've got to let that go and move forward.... But @!#!! #!@&@!!!!!! !! There. I feel a teeny bit better.
