This isn't a embassy/country specific issue. It is the validity date (across the board for I-129F) as Darnell stated, you would need to email Lagos and ask them they will let you know how far out you can push the date. i would do that immediately.
Small window for a I-129F so you need to act fast.
Thank you.

Thank you for the info Stevie b. And I hope others will reply, too, with more info. Especially from the Nigeria portal/community/forum. But ALL info is appreciated by me.yes there are expirations.. a k1 is a year if I recall correctly
you have to keep in touch with the embassy, they can extend your expiration for four months at a time

Thank you for your well wishes. Much appreciated.Cheer up my friend. Sorry that you are going through so much in this most needed time. You could email the embassy and ask that question they will respond. I don't believe that you would have to pay right away. Someone I hope will soon have the answer to your question. Be blessed and be strong

My fiancé and I chatted online almost daily, and on the phone, for over a year before I went to Nigeria to meet him face to face. I registered with S.T.E.P. online so that the embassy would know who I was with and where I was staying (his address which I had also mailed things to and knew it really was his address). I gave my mom and daughter his address, email address, physical address, full name, a scanned copy of his national ID card, names and phone numbers of his brother and parents and where they lived. Yes I was scared. Yes people thought I was crazy. But I judged my fiancés character correctly. I was safe with him. I never went places alone. Even with him being with me at the market for example I was very aware of my surroundings and the people around me. I stayed out of areas and regions that strong warnings had been given to US citizens and for that reason I would not travel to visit his mom. I also took a paper list of emergency phone numbers like the US embassy, police, hospital, and contacts in my phone I wrote down in case my phone was lost, stolen, or just not charged because of the darn electricity situation. I did not keep large amounts of money on me. My daughter wired me a certain amount of my money every week. Oh, and make sure you take many, many pictures and store and save and email them to yourself. You will need them later. Pictures of you two doing normal ordinary things and regular things couples do. Be safe. Best wishes.

Hi everyone. I am a K1 fiancé USC going through Lagos Nigeria. Hope everyone has been having a pleasant, blessed, and successful journey through your processes. I haven't been on here in awhile.... because I was busy working and then I was busy trying to handle everything in my life that was falling apart and trying to be strong. Besides vehicles falling apart and relatives that don't repay loans and illness ..... in addition to all that and some other things..... I lost my job. Yep. My son is my cosponsor and besides the fact that he travels from project to project across the US, he and his crew sometimes have 3 or 4 weeks in between projects when they draw unemployment and then get sent out to more projects... but in spite of that he is paid well and his annual income meets and exceeds the requirements for sponsorship. And he has worked there for a few years.
I have 2 basic questions, and to simplify things I just want to remove from the equation that I have a cosponsor and that I'm currently out of work. Here's what I need to know. We got the email from Lagos that said something like, hey we got your paperwork, please tell your fiancé to pay the 240.00 at the bank and go online to make your interview appointment. Do we have a time limit from the date we got that email til we pay and make an appointment?
Secondly, do we have ANY time limits, restrictions, expiration dates, etc. to worry about... for example, the date on our NOA2? (remember - K1 fiancé)
Thanks all. So many of you are very knowledgeable and so giving and sharing with your experiences and knowledge. For those of you who pray, please please pray I find a good job soon and that this will all end up being just a teeny weeny tiny bump in the road and not a big deal. We are so close to being together now. I know I need to keep my eyes on the prize and not the circumstances. My God is a BIG God. Thanks everyone.

The information dwheels gave is not bogus. She has been a valued member on vj for quite some time and has shared useful and trusted information with many of us. The information she shared is the same info given to me when I asked the similar question.... I have my NVC case number also. The info pertains to Lagos. You can look it up on the website of the Dept of State for Lagos. In addition to waiting for them to say they have received your case by emailing them your case number and the name of the beneficiary, you can review the forms that will need to be filled out, make sure you have all the information for the affidavit of support, and be sure you have sent your fiancé (or fiancée) a copy of everything that was originally sent in with your petition. Once LagosIV lets you know they have your case you can pay the fee to the bank and use the receipt number to go online and make an interview appointment. You should receive the letter that dwheels posted.

My content has disappeared too. Don't know why.

Very good information from everyone. Thanks.

Thank you. But I did hear that k1 does not pay until the interview day and I'm not sure if the info has been updated. But I will try to search the threads regarding this change.

My K1 was finally received by NVC and a case number had been given to it when I called about it May 20th. They received it May 18th. So it's been a full week. When can I go online to schedule the k1 interview in Lagos? Do I wait until my case is physically mailed to them? Do I call NVC to find out if its been mailed and then wait some more for it to arrive? I know that K1's fee is now paid at the interview and not prior to making the appointment. I'm just wondering what the timeline is now for all these things to transpire. I can't explain to all of you how excited and also nervous we are at this point. All the waiting and preparing and twists and turns in now coming to this..... the interview. Oh the anticipation of those results!

Please help...lately I have been having random little problems with my vj account. The most recent problem is logging in and getting locked out. Just out of the blue I had to sign in to my account. I usually stay logged in but for some reason I was asked to sign in. It wouldn't recognize my user name and password so I reset my password. It said my new password that was emailed to me was wrong. So I waited and reset it again. Then it would let me in on my laptop but not my phone. Then it said that my newest password that was issued to me was incorrect. It locked me out for 2 minutes. Then yesterday it started recognizing the password again. But today it said it was incorrect. (And I paste it each time so I don't know why its correct sometimes and not other times). Well tonight it decided it was wrong again. It locked me out for 1 minute and when I went back to try again it said I was locked out for 11 minutes and I hadn't even retried yet. Once again I reset it. I don't know how long it will accept it. Why is this happening? It's driving me bonkers. Another thing, while I was locked out I could not find where I was suppose to contact vj for issues such as this. Thank goodness I was able to sign in again so I could contact VJ via this post.
Okay... It's a new day and the password I used yesterday to post about this problem is not working. I tried several times. ONCE AGAIN I had to reset my password and then I had to try 3 times to login with it before it would let me in. PLEASE.... who do I contact? Who can fix this problem? It's very aggravating. It shouldn't be this difficult to log in. I'm using Internet Explorer. Today this problem has been on my laptop.... I don't even feel like trying to mess with it on my phone. Am I posting in the wrong forum? Is there a link I'm suppose to report this problem to? I need help, please.

dwheels.... what did you mean when you said "I know quite afew 9ja folk waiting to get in queue and in queue so soon as you can act move fast. Especially that DS-3032 that goes off soon as you get a case#" Is that just for married couples or for K1 also. Can you explain further about getting the DS-3032 sent off? Thanks..

I have been following your story since you were a K1 petitioner. I'm so happy to see that this time around you are so close to the end of your journey. I agree with being there on the interview day. I believe I have heard that she can take your passport inside to show you are present. And your flight itinary too maybe?? Best wishes. We just got our case number also. Wondering how long to wait til we set up interview.

I was mentally pumped to call NVC Monday and USCIS and deal with those people and insist on talking to a tier two person...however, when I called they had my case and gave me my case number. I was on hold so long I almost hung up but so glad I stuck with it. She said it just got logged in Friday and to give it some time for administrative processing. I asked her what is that? She said the process it goes through there at NVC. I asked how long does it take and she told me she doesn't know. I asked if every case went through administrative processing and she said yes. But....if I remember from reading many posts here on VJ adminastrative processing is a bad thing. AP. Is that right? Are they doing more investigating? Or are they just "processing" it on to Lagos? I just can't bear more stress of waiting on some type of decision again. Anyone know?

Congrats to the new daddy and mom!!

You are so right. I agree.

Thanks. I found it. Smiling.

I clicked on my name in the upper right corner and put a status update (what's on your mind) and clicked "update" but where does it go? I don't see it on my profile page or anywhere else? Thanks. I can't go to this site on my phone anymore which is 90% of how I connect to VJ.. It has suddenly asked me to sign in and when I try, it kicks me off the internet. I've tried two different browsers. Anyone know why or how to fix that?
-
That's awesome. I can remember when you were preparing for your interview and look how far you have come! I am wondering something. Is our culture and the way we do things here been hard to understand for you? Or are you making the adjustment well? I want to be prepared for what my fiancé, soon to be husband, may struggle with when he is here.

This situation is disappointing, I'm frustrated. 46 days and I'm still waiting for the nvc have my approval.
I know it is disheartening. We'll lean on each other and encourage one another. Remember, in spite of all this, one day..... very soon..... our loved one will be with us.
-
OMG. I'm frustrated for ALL of us and so now the tier 2 people are rude and useless, as well? And three to six weeks????? That's ludicrous! This was suppose to be the easiest step in the journey. After a long wait for NOA2's our petitions were suppose to zip through the NVC process and get case numbers and then on to the journey ahead with our perspective consulates. Whew. This is ridiculous, there isn't even any consistency in all the answers NVC and USCIS are giving. And when did it start taking so long? Does anyone know the process our petitions go through to get to NVC? I can't understand how some went through so fast without a hitch and some of us are lingering. BTW.... My status online at USCIS still says initial review. What a messed up system. Groan! 5 weeks and starting week 6. I didn't try calling today with some of you getting disconnected and treated so rudely. I'll get at them Monday and report what happens.

congratulations!!!!!
Skipped Nvc?
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures

Anne my NOA2 said the same stupid thing. But what it says is not right. It's not how it ends up working out. I don't know why it is even printed on there. It will get sent to NVC and NVC will let you know when they get it. Mine took a few weeks to get to NVC. I called and kept checking on it. Finally they will tell you they have it. They will give you a number beginning with LG. Then it all goes faster. NVC will send it to the consulate in your fiancés country and they will email you and say hey, we have your paperwork. Please ask your fiancé to make his interview payment at the bank and then go online with the receipt number and make an interview appointment. Yipee! Aren't you excited????
