  1. I use delta. I fly out of st Louis. It has been as cheap as almost $900 and as high as $1400. When you search use the option to look 3 days out from your date. Different days are cheaper. I chose one with just one stop and it was about 18 hours including the lay over. I've booked a couple months in advance and also just a week advance. You can still find a deal unless its around a special holiday.

  2. why were you denied k1? was it dowry?offering? any red flags? dont think any embassy is "tough" if your not a geneuine couple who prepared well

After an interview that seemed to go very well, he just said he was not convinced it was a bona fide relationship. Nothing else, no reason. But we had front loaded hundreds of phone calls, emails, and chats. Provided photos and boarding passes. Documented the months I've been there and showed a relationship that spanned almost two years and an engagement that was not rushed into until we had known each other well. Then he said for us to get married and file again. No other reason was given. There are many "genuine" couples who have been denied and many of them are here on visa journey. And yes, there are tough embassies even for genuine couples. People here can tell you about their own experiences that testify to that.

  3. Hi all. I just want to share that we got case complete from NVC and a letter with instructions and an interview date for July1. We are excited and scared at the same time. This is our second time...we had our K1 denied and now this is for our CR-1. Lagos is a tough embassy. I'm praying and trying to relax and put it in God's hands for favorable results. This journey started April 2010.

  4. Hi all,

I'm trying to get my taxes done and since I'm married now and choosing to file married filing separate, my tax guy says my "non resident alien" Nigerian husband has to have an ITIN and has to physically sign my tax form. He will need ID for the W-7 ITIN. My friend said her Nigerian husband went and got a certified copy of his passport from the embassy to use as his photo ID for the ITIN and mailed it to her. Does anyone know where my husband would go to get his certified copy of his passport...would it be the same place that issued the passport? The Nigerian Embassy in Lagos? And does anyone know about how much the cost of that would be? This is going to take time... so any advice on how any of you did this fast would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. After you log in, should have a screen that u can click on ds261 pick agent. Under that will be pay fees and under that ds260 etc etc.

That's all done on second link in signature.

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ try this

Yes that's the link I went to. I have the process and wiki by my side. I did click on the link it gave me after I logged in that said ds261 form. But when I clicked on it it didn't take me to a form. It wants me to pay my aos and iv fees. I didn't think you pay those the very same day you get your case number. I would love to pay now and send in my package but I haven't because I'm scared if this is a glitch it will somehow delay us. Has this happened to anyone else?
  6. Today I got my case number and invoice ID number. I also gave the lady my email address. She said I had to go online and do the agent of choice thing. And she said about 7 days later I can pay fees. But when I logged in with my case number and Invoice ID number it took me to a page that said to fill out the electronic form for choosing an agent. I clicked on that. It took me to a page that says summary. It says contact NVC if I want to change my agent of choice. At the top of the page "agent of choice is greyed out". Pay fees is in blue. It is telling me to pay my AOS and IV fees and "Pay Now" is in blue but I didn't click it. No where on the page does it say that the agent of choice is complete. It just says pay AOS and Pay IV. Why won't it let me choose my agent (which will be me)? And what will happen if I pay the fees without filling out that agent form?

  7. I got an email saying on Feb. 24 my case was sent to the Dept of State for Visa processing. How do I get a jump on choosing an agent? I found this link here on VJ http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Email_DS-3032_form. Should I use that? Or do I ask if I can choose an agent when I'm on the phone with them when I call to get my case number? Or do I wait to hear from them? I think choosing an agent is the first step that gets the ball rolling so I want to know how to do it. Thanks.

  8. I read this on the VJ I-30 information. It says these forms may have to be sent in or depending on the consulate abroad they are taken to the interview. Which way pertains to Lagos?

Forms that may be either sent back (or requested to be gathered and kept for the interview) to the NVC or the consulate abroad (depending upon which consulate you are going through) before an interview date with a consulate abroad can be scheduled are as follows:

    Pre-Interview Forms / Items:

    1. Completed and signed OF-169. 2. Completed and signed Of-230 Part 1 and 2 forms. 3. I-864 Affidavit of Support Form along with past 3 year U.S tax returns (or transcripts) and any other financial documents required. 4. A copy of intending immigrants biographic page of passport(s) including expiration date. 5. Original or certified "long" birth certificate. * 6. Original adoption decree. (if applicable) 7. Marriage certificate. (if applicable) 8. Divorce decree(s) or death certificate(s) (if applicable) 9. Police certificate(s) ** 10. Court and prison records.(if applicable) 11. Custody records. (if applicable) 12.

    Military records (if applicable)

It doesn't say anything about the barcodes or receipts printed from online. Then it says the following which seems like the same thing...

    Interview Forms / Items:

    1. Valid Passport. 2. Original or certified "long" birth certificate. * 3. Original adoption decree. (if applicable) 4. Original or certified copy of the marriage certificate. (if applicable) 5. Original death certificate. (if applicable) 6. Original divorce decree. (if applicable) 7. Police certificate. ** 8. Court record(s) (if applicable). 9. I-864 Affidavit of Support Form along with past 3 year U.S tax returns (or transcripts) and any other financial documents required. (see poverty limits here) 10. Court and prison records.(if applicable) 11. Medical examination information 12.

Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the spouse or benefitiary

And I can't find the guide I use to have that explains about calling NVC to get the case and other number that you need to go online and it explains what has to be paid, how its paid, and forms to be filled out online. Then it explains that with those receipts (or you print it out??) you mail it to NVC (along with the I-84 forms and tax papers and pay statements??) And a list of what has to be mailed to them. It also tells how to send the IV stuff and AOS at the same time as one package without waiting. Can someone tell me where all that info is? I don't want to screw this up.

    Thanks.

  9. I hear a lot of people say that you need to find out why the k1 was denied and address the issues before filing an I-30.But that is very difficult to do. Some times you get no reason except CO was not convinced of a bona-fide relationship and no reason given why the CO feels that way. In our case we front loaded, had lots of evidence from a long relationship, face to face time, interview went well and the CO didn't seem to harp on any particular thing during the interview. So, how many of you have had the same experience and then filed a spousal visa and were approved?

  10. Hello,

I am new here. I just received a notification from the NVC that my case is in a queue awaiting an interview appointment in Nigeria. Anybody has an idea how long it usually takes from the notification till when I get an interview date?

Please, how long after you received your noa2 approval did you receive that notification from nvc? Thanks

  11. Hip hip hoorah and yipee kiyay!!!! Got our approval today for our I-30 petition . NOA2. I got a text that said my case had been updated and a link. I was scared to go look. I thought why didn't they just text and say it was approved? I was afraid it would be an RFE. But it said on Feb 11 your petition was approved!!!! Filed Aug 18. So it was over 5 months but less than 6. Our anniversary is Feb 18. I'll gladly accept this anniversary gift to us.

  12. It's now been 11 days since we passed our 5 month mark from our NOA1. Each day brings more anxiety. I really expected an approval about Jan 18 based on what others are saying about Nebraska. Could it be that my husband is in Nigeria and we are being extra-scrutinized? Anyone else from Nigeria that has passed their 5 months? Or any from Nigeria that got their approval right around 5 months? Shouldn't I have heard something by now?

  13. try to hang around during his interview. if they deny him. as a citizen, you have the right to walk in there and demand the reasons. its ur right. you benefit cuz the interview is still fresh.

Really? Has anyone here ever done that? I've read about cases where the USC immediately calls their senator etc... but never heard of going inside the embassy and asking for the reasons of the denial. I am interested in knowing more about this.
