Does my fiance need to present some sort of form from the embassy at children's place (lagos) when he goes for his medical exam? There wasn't one included in the interview prep packet they emailed. There was only one for the police clearance. Thanks.

The ds156k says attach evidence of engagement. Surely they aren't talking about the proof of an ongoing relationship because there is too much to attach. So, at the interview, when do you turn in the proof of ongoing relationship? Do they need to see it before they call your name for the interview? Thanks.

Unless it has changed since Nov when we filed, the first notice comes from Texas then it is sent to California or Vermont, depending on where you live, for it to be reviewed and processed. This can take several months. Hope that helps. Read all the k1 guides and flowchart on this site. Welcome to VJ.

Is 24,000 naira a fair estimate of how much we should expect to pay for the medical at children's place in Lagos (if he does not have his vaccine record and needs to get his required vaccines in addition to the exam)? And about 8000 for the police clearance?

Was Lagos one of the embassies closed for some days recently for safety?

Just remember that even though the k1 is a nonimmigrant visa the instructions say to schedule the interview under immigrant visa.
" With the payment receipt number, the applicant can visit our website at http://www.ustraveldocs.com to schedule a K1 visa interview appointment under the Immigrant Visa (IV) category. "

You can download packet 3. But be careful getting anxious and getting your medical or police clearance too soon. I think the police clearance is only good for 3 months and once you get the medical I think you only have 6 months to enter the US. But you can fill out the forms. Has your fiance mailed you copies of everything that was submitted with the petition and additional evidence of an ongoing relationship? Don't worry about the 3 months on the approval. It took us about a month to get our case number from nvc. We were approved in April, our petition was set to expire Aug 10 and our interview is scheduled for Sep 20. The embassy extended our expiration date til our interview.

Gowan, if I may ask, what did you pay for the first one with the shots?

Everything happens for a reason even if we can't see it yet. I know your journey has been a long one and has had some disappointment along the way. I strongly feel like you will be approved this time. You and your Goweness will be celebrating and her tears will be tears of joy!

Aya820 so you put a note on it for him to pick up as soon as it arrived in the country? Picked up from where? He's in Lagos. I wonder if that's where mail goes when it first enters the country. I was going to mail it to his work place because I think it's easier to find than his apartment.

Unfortunately I don't think DHL is in my area.

Hello everyone. Hope all is well with each and every one of you.
I want to mail our 8 lb package to Lagos Nigeria that my fiancé needs for the interview. It will cost $272 with fedex but only $77 with USPS flat rate international. I'm just recovering from all the bad luck that recently befell me and my family so saving money is important. But it's also important that the package arrive at its destination. I'm mailing it to him at his job. We think it will have a better chance of getting to him. Was wondering if both couriers just get it into the country and to customs or if they deliver it all the way to its destination?
Anyone use USPS? What are the pros and cons of my choices and maybe there's another choice I didn't think of? I always appreciate and welcome input from all of you. Thanks.

Ditto what everyone else said. Relax. You are fine.

I am K1 and my priority date is blank, too. Funny, I was just getting ready to post a question about that and I saw this post. I'm trying to go online and schedule our interview (which is how its done in Lagos) and I have the receipt number for the fee we paid. But, after filing in name and passport information it keeps asking us for a priority date and it won't let us continue without it. I even tried 00/00/0000 but that doesn't work. I know I'm on the right page because I followed all the prompts that had me chose K1 fiancé. Any suggestions?

Thanks samename. Did you have to fill out an online ds-160?
lol.... I see where you said you did. Never mind. I'm trying to do too many things at one time.

Wishing you the best through this process. I highly recommend reading the guide and flowchart.... several times. Read many, many posts and even though some couples may be much further ahead in the process than you, learn from them. Keep a notebook and jot down things you learn. The DO's and the DONT'S. Start saving your "proof of an ongoing relationship". And welcome to VJ!

We paid the K1 visa fee at the bank in Lagos and have the payment receipt. On the http://www.ustraveldocs.com site is there a way to login just to look at the K1 interview dates that are currently open? I don't know if we will be required to choose a date if we login and we just want to see what dates they're working on right now. There is an upcoming burial ceremony in the family in August and we can't make an appointment before that but don't know if maybe they are already taking September appointments. I know there's a link to check interview dates but it's asking us to create a profile and log in and I've been hesitant because I don't know if it will make us choose a date right then and there if we do.
The email from Lagos said to schedule an appointment under immigration visas and when I was at the site looking around the instructions said you had to fill out a ds-160 before you can schedule an interview. Is that right? Thanks.
Not sure if this is country specific or not. So I'm sorry if I posted wrong.

Congrats! Best wishes for the two of you.

Regarding phone records, I would say just submit the pages that pertain to you two and highlight those. That's what I did. I actually had copies sent to me from my cell phone carrier because online when I tried printing them, the name and logo of the company wouldn't appear on the copy. ???

I may be wrong but, I think there is something about the date that will be on the completed medical exam.... that the date is used to count down how much time the K1 visa is good for. (6 months?) Hopefully someone will get on here and post something to explain it better. For that reason, as anxious as we are, we are getting his done closer to the interview date which will give us more time to fly him over here and make all the necessary arrangements to marry and do any other stuff required of us to continue the journey to the next steps. Any-hoo... that's just how we are doing it based on our particular circumstances. Everyones' is different. Just putting some info out there in case its useful. But it should be confirmed by more experienced members.

So happy for you. Bet you had trouble going back to sleep.

I don't know why but my fiance left me a message that says "will you please ask the people on the forum where the REAL address is to get the police clearance?" He's in the city of Lagos in Odofin. Thank you.
