  1. Is 24,000 naira a fair estimate of how much we should expect to pay for the medical at children's place in Lagos (if he does not have his vaccine record and needs to get his required vaccines in addition to the exam)? And about 8000 for the police clearance?

  2. You can download packet 3. But be careful getting anxious and getting your medical or police clearance too soon. I think the police clearance is only good for 3 months and once you get the medical I think you only have 6 months to enter the US. But you can fill out the forms. Has your fiance mailed you copies of everything that was submitted with the petition and additional evidence of an ongoing relationship? Don't worry about the 3 months on the approval. It took us about a month to get our case number from nvc. We were approved in April, our petition was set to expire Aug 10 and our interview is scheduled for Sep 20. The embassy extended our expiration date til our interview.

  3. Aya820 so you put a note on it for him to pick up as soon as it arrived in the country? Picked up from where? He's in Lagos. I wonder if that's where mail goes when it first enters the country. I was going to mail it to his work place because I think it's easier to find than his apartment.

  4. Hello everyone. Hope all is well with each and every one of you.

I want to mail our 8 lb package to Lagos Nigeria that my fiancé needs for the interview. It will cost $272 with fedex but only $77 with USPS flat rate international. I'm just recovering from all the bad luck that recently befell me and my family so saving money is important. But it's also important that the package arrive at its destination. I'm mailing it to him at his job. We think it will have a better chance of getting to him. Was wondering if both couriers just get it into the country and to customs or if they deliver it all the way to its destination?

Anyone use USPS? What are the pros and cons of my choices and maybe there's another choice I didn't think of? I always appreciate and welcome input from all of you. Thanks.

  5. I am K1 and my priority date is blank, too. Funny, I was just getting ready to post a question about that and I saw this post. I'm trying to go online and schedule our interview (which is how its done in Lagos) and I have the receipt number for the fee we paid. But, after filing in name and passport information it keeps asking us for a priority date and it won't let us continue without it. I even tried 00/00/0000 but that doesn't work. I know I'm on the right page because I followed all the prompts that had me chose K1 fiancé. Any suggestions?

  6. We paid the K1 visa fee at the bank in Lagos and have the payment receipt. On the http://www.ustraveldocs.com site is there a way to login just to look at the K1 interview dates that are currently open? I don't know if we will be required to choose a date if we login and we just want to see what dates they're working on right now. There is an upcoming burial ceremony in the family in August and we can't make an appointment before that but don't know if maybe they are already taking September appointments. I know there's a link to check interview dates but it's asking us to create a profile and log in and I've been hesitant because I don't know if it will make us choose a date right then and there if we do.

The email from Lagos said to schedule an appointment under immigration visas and when I was at the site looking around the instructions said you had to fill out a ds-160 before you can schedule an interview. Is that right? Thanks.

Not sure if this is country specific or not. So I'm sorry if I posted wrong.

  7. I may be wrong but, I think there is something about the date that will be on the completed medical exam.... that the date is used to count down how much time the K1 visa is good for. (6 months?) Hopefully someone will get on here and post something to explain it better. For that reason, as anxious as we are, we are getting his done closer to the interview date which will give us more time to fly him over here and make all the necessary arrangements to marry and do any other stuff required of us to continue the journey to the next steps. Any-hoo... that's just how we are doing it based on our particular circumstances. Everyones' is different. Just putting some info out there in case its useful. But it should be confirmed by more experienced members.
