Petitioner previously filed taxes together with the ex-husband

My American wife (the petitioner) filed for me and my son (CR1 & CR2) a couple of weeks ago and we want to start preparing already now for the next steps. We know the petitioner needs tax reports from the previous years etc.

So, my wife was legally married to her ex-husband until last year. They were "separated" but the divorce was finalized only last year. They have filed taxes together previously. They also had a shared bank account etc.

We are a little bit confused how these things affect the future steps. My wife has a business and she is earning enough to support me and my son. Any opinions, please?

What are the current restrictions when re-entering the US? (USC and Spouse)

If this is the wrong place to post this, please let me know!

What does the situation look like in terms of re-entering the US after travel to Europe currently? Me and my husband would like to visit family in my home country this summer (we are both vaccinated so no worries there) but we are not sure if we are able to re-enter without issues?

From what I understand, it shouldn't be an issue since he is a USC and I will likely either have my green card at that point or my AP which would still allow me to re-enter since I am a spouse. Additionally, I read that we will have to provide negative Covid tests which shouldn't be an issue. I am more so wondering if there are any specific restrictions since we will be coming from Europe.

Obviously things might change as more people get vaccinated but we just wanted to get a feel for the current situation. We won't book anything until we are 100% that we will be able to re-enter without issues.

Hey,

me and my husband had our interview almost 7 weeks ago. (Marriage interview, came with k-1 visa)

We went there prepared and had everything with us. We were excited and confident. We have had really good and smooth visa process and easy k-1 interview.

No crazy backgrounds, no criminal history, no visa overstayes. Everything should be good and normal . And if this matters but beneficial is from a good country Sweden.

We arrive to the interview on time.

She comes to get us from the lobby, barely says hey and says I will take you separtely, you will wait in a lobby and I will take the American first

She interviews him first for about 20-30 min and then me about 20-30 min also.

Really detailed questions, maybe 20 questions. She has a odd rude attitude.

We answered everything great, same answers. It was hard interview but same time easy for us cause obviously we live together and know each other well.

She said she can t give us an answer yet and online says my interview was completed and my case must be reviewed .

7 weeks and still nothing! Why did they do that? I can t find any similiar stories. I have heard that they might separate couples while in a interview if it goes bad. But we never even got a change to do it together!?

Thank you!!

Filing online -- CR2 (step child)

When the petitioner files also for a step child (beneficiary, CR2), how does filling the forms and attaching attachments differ from the spouse beneficiary process? We are now so confused as the online form is all the time mentioning the spouse beneficiary... and when filing a separate petition for the step child, most of the questions are non applicable (such as work history for a baby). In addition, should the CR2 application have all the same attachments than the CR1 PLUS extras such as the child's birth certificate?

Name change and passport

When I apply for my first U.S. passport, do I need to submit any documents for the name change I had when I naturalized? Or do they automatically go with the name that is on the Certificate of Naturalization (that clearly shows my new name)? I only dropped one of my two middle names, so it wasn't a big change or anything.

(And yes, I searched visajourney and didn't find what I as looking for (I really dislike the VJ search function), and the DS-11 form only directs me to the passport website and I can't seem to find the right answer there either (only info regarding name change for people who already have passports).

So I apologize, as I'm sure this has been asked before.)
