Article: What Happened When the U.S. Government Tried to Make the Immigration System Digital

I found this a fascinating behind the scenes look at how USCIS processes the mountains of paperwork we send them, and how difficult it's been to digitize/streamline the process.

A worthwhile read for anyone who's ever wondered why the immigration process is so slow and inefficient, and why some people's files get mixed up / documents get lost in the shuffle.

Identity Document for naturalized daughter

Hi guys,

I told my step daughter to get her learners permit and was not able to proceed because we don't have an identity document for her. She and her mom came to the US in 2011 via K1 and K2 visas. They got their US citizenship in 2017. Mom got her documents at the searing in ceremony but nothing was provided for the daughter.

Now the MVA says that she needs and identity document from USCIS. I have been away from USCIS and the immigration progress since 2017. What form do we need to submit to get proof of identity for my stepdaughter?

Thanks

Hi guys!

I would like to ask for your advice. My family recently got our welcome letter thru email since the last March 2021 visa bulletin - dates for filing, our PD got included.

PD: Jan 23,2003

Approval date: Aug 25,2009

My concern is that me and my 2 brothers are already in our early twenties and we're just completing the documents and paying for the necessary fees. I would like to know if we're still qualified for the immigration with my parents under CSPA? here are our birthdates:

ME: 07/16/1995 - 25

Bro1: 07/10/1994 - 26

Eldest" 04/17/1997 -23

thank you very much!

My Immigration is officially done!!!

My N400 experience was both exciting and nerve wracking!

The goal to ensure that your paperwork is sufficient down to the studying the citizenship material was taxing but was ALL worth it!

I had my citizenship interview today at the Milwaukee, WI field office. My application was under the 3 yr rule.

I arrived 1:15pm per instruction from the appointment letter. Check in procedure was smooth and organize. I was called exactly 130pm. The IO asked for my DL,GC and Passport. He started with the Civics test and answered all of the questions. Reading and Writing tests were completed without any issue. He went over my form and just asked me a few questions. He asked if I was working and replied that I work as a CSA at a utility company. He said it must be a tough job. He asked if I get yelled a lot? We ended up chatting about the nature of my job coz I told him that we respond to emergencies and outages too.

I informed him that I need to change my response for group membership coz I said no yet Im a member of a labor union, he said not to worry about it and then handed me the results form after having me sign a few documents!

I was out after 10 minutes! He didn t even ask for any of my documents!

Later on, my case was updated to advising me of my oath of ceremony scheduled!

I WOULD HAVE NOT MADE IT WITHOUT THE HELP OF EVERYONE HERE IN VJ!

Thank you for your generosity and for sharing your experiences and knowledge!

God bless you all and more power!

There was a call with USEM and BI concerning the PI Immigration situation. For US citizens that want to go back to the PI, for now the only way is if you have a Philippine's spouse or have a biological child that is also a Philippine citizen. The problem is, you must travel back with them on the same flight so if they are in the PI, you wont be able to go. Also, you will need an existing visa.

For the US citizens who are already in the PI and contemplating going back to the US, most likely you will not be able to get back in for quite some time. They did not say how long that would be, but it came across as being for an extended period of time.

Also, international flights are extremely limited as of now. They are still only allowing 1500 passengers a day to come through Manila and some type of restriction may be made for Cebu and Clark in the future. The 1500 through Manila is through April 30th, but possible this will be extended. Will depend on alot of different factors.
