My question is, will my husband need a Philippines visa or we can avail the Balikbayan program? Please and thank you. We plan to go home this June 2022.

IR-2 has been pending at NVC since Nov 2020 when do they send to Embassy?

Hello,

I applied for a IR-2 visa for both of my step-children. At NVC stage they both were approved on November 8th (documents and application were complete and got the email). However since that time it has been sitting at NVC. How long does it usually take before they send over to the embassy before an interview is scheduled. Is there something I should be doing in the meantime while I wait other than figuring out the logistics for the medical and interview for my children? Do I need to complete anything further at this website - Apply for a U.S. Visa | Home - Philippines (English) (ustraveldocs.com) ?

Wrong spelling of mother's birth name on wife's birth certificate

We got DQ in December 2021 and are waiting for an Interview Letter for my wife for an IR1 visa.

On my wife's Birth Certificate, her mother's birth name, the middle (maiden) name is misspelled.

I won't give you her actual name, but for example:

Wife's mother's real birth name: Mary Elaine Roa

Name as shown on my wife's BC: Mary Laine Roa

We DID put the CORRECT name on both I-130 and DS-260 and related forms, and everything was accepted.

So I'm just worried that on the day of her interview, things may get delayed because of that.

But after reading some threads here, it seems that if some supporting information is made ready, such as her mother's birth certificate (which may or may not be available) and baptismal certificate, and perhaps some affidavits, then we need not worry, and need not even try to correct the error.

We were told by the local registrar that it could take UP TO A YEAR to correct the birth certificate, but if we got a lawyer that is close to Office of the Civil Registrar General in Manila, it might be much faster.

At this point, I'm leaning towards getting all the stuff ready to request the change ourselves, and have copies of everything ready for the interview.

I'd like to ask for general recommendations (what to do). Thank you.

Hello everyone. Quick update. Thanks to you guys we got married last month. Her birth certificate FINALLY came, so we submitted her paperwork and now we wait 8 months or so for her EAD works.

Anyway, we need her keys copied so she can send it to her aunt so she can clean up her apartment. She doesn't want to send the original because it might get lost. She also can't ask the landlord because she was the one who installed the locks. We tried to get them copied at Walmart but the machine won't take them. Anyone have suggestions for this?

N400 Interview Under 5 Year Rule (Divorced)

Hi everyone,

I need your help. My N400 interview is already scheduled next week on the 18th and I'm kind of stressed and paranoid about it now that I am getting closer to the date.

I have filed N400 under the 5 year rule since my ex and I got divorced. We got married back in August 2016 so 4 years. Before the divorce, around 2019 I moved out of state because of work but travelled back and forth. The goal was that eventually we would both move to the new state. We were having conflicts which got worse and worse. Then, I later found out, she was seeing someone else behind my back. This initiated the divorce which was filed on June 2020 and was finalized on Nov 2020. We have everything separate since then and some stuff were purposefully erased to move on. It was heart breaking because I did love her. After the divorce, I decided to better myself. I moved out of state and was able to get into a nursing program and I am finally graduating next month.

Being said, the documents that I have prepared so far are the documents were on USCIS' letter:

- tax documents

- my green card

- my passport (current and old one used upon entry to the US)

- certified copy of marriage certificate

- copy of dissolution of marriage

Now, will they scrutinize my application during the interview given my situation? I no longer have any proofs of anything joint-related except those that I have already originally sent for ROC as we have now our separate lives. I'm worried that a part of my situation would be misinterpreted or that I don't answer the right question and get miscommunicated? Do I still have to take with me documents to prove bona fides? I think I'm starting to get way into my head.

Any tips or advices would be much appreciated
