Advice on how to handle SSN

Hello,

I'm a U.S. Citizen applying for an overseas Filipina spouse; our standalone i-130 was approved 14Dec23 and I just paid fees 03Jan24. As I was looking through the DS-260, I noticed there's an option to answer "Yes" to these last two questions to get an SSN, but I've also read some stories of people having to go in person anyways. What do folks recommend to get an SSN ASAP so that she may begin work and we can ammend taxes.

Paids Fees, No DS-261 / Wait for Taxes?

Hi all,

Two questions:

1. I'm a U.S. Citizen that got their i-130 approved for their Overseas Spouse on 11Dec23, and a welcome leter 03Jan24. I paid the fees same day, but can't access the choice of agent to do DS-261? I've been reading DS-261 is meant to be done first, so is it locked out because I paid the AOS and IV fees? Is it meant to be done after, or will there be any issues?

2. Since it's a new year, should I make haste to get my taxes done (still waiting on forms from work & school)?

RFE Sent Recently But Deadline Coming Up

Hello Everyone,

We finally gathered all the documentation we could for our I-485 RFE and submitted it. However, due to difficulties of getting all the documentation we submitted it recently during the holidays almost two weeks before the deadline. Tracking number shows someone (presumably a USCIS employee) picked it up on 12/26/23 from the Field Office PO Box at the Post Office. Deadline to submit RFE is Sunday 01/07/24 end of this week. We haven't received a notice of receipt or any updates yet and we are worried they might not look at it until after the deadline. Are we in the clear or in trouble? We are worried that they will deny our application if they look at our package after the deadline. Should we upload the same documentation to our USCIS online account just in case?

I would like some feedback, bcs my I-129F petition was denied and my fianc wants to do the CR1 visa now! My question is will it be easier for us to get approved for our CR1 petition than the I-129F petition we got denied for? Not only did they deny it, but it took them more than 3 years and 4 months to deny it. My fianc had our first baby together back in November of 2022, and we want to be together as a family bcs being apart sucks. Any advice pls feel free to let me know.

I thought the interview went well. I came prepared, on time, and confident. I brought my wife and daughter as they applied for the H4 visa.

In the interview, I was only asked 2 questions:
1. In which city in _____ State will you live?
2. What is your educational background?

I was able to answer them truthfully.

He proceeded by asking me if I am aware that I must pay a reciprocity fee, in which I responded with, Yes, sir, I am.

After that, the officer gave me the blue booklet and asked me to take time to read to know my rights. I accepted it and said thanks.

Then he asked again for the copy of my notice of action. He continued working with his computer. After a couple of minutes, he told me, Everything looks good. However, you cannot pay the reciprocity fee just yet. I will give this (221 g form) to you and I will check this part (administrative processing) but that is normal and okay. I will also return your passports for now. Normally it will take a week maybe tomorrow we will contact you. It depends.

We were then asked to leave the consulate.

Honestly my wife and I are still confused with what turned out. I was not even given the opportunity to to ask questions.

What could be the reason for it?
