Hi Everyone!

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Long story short: in November, during my green card interview in Amsterdam the consular officer told me that my visa was approved (she told this to me twice). After 8 hours or so, I got an email from the embassy asking to fill out DS-5535 ASAP. My Dutch passport is still with the consulate, and it has been already over 1 month that they are doing administrative processing. I sent them an e-mail asking for a status update, however, the reply was "we'll only contact you once the AP is over, and will not reply to further inquiries anymore".

Anyone with similar experience with the DS-5535 in Amsterdam?

I've been looking into what I'd have to do to get things translated into english and someplaces say I can and others say I can't do it myself. USCIS website says that the translator that does it has to certify their

The things I'm gonna have to translate are Flight itineraries, Bank statements and confirmation emails from different places.

USCIS website says:

Quote

If you submit any documents (copies or original documents, if requested) in a foreign language, you must include a full English translation along with a certification from the translator verifying that the translation is complete and accurate, and that they are competent to translate from the foreign language to English.

Which sounds to me like anyone could potentionally do it.

So can I do this myself? Can I have my Mom do it? Do I really need to hire someone to do this?

So, here's the thing. I have a pending I-485 (and I-765 + I-131). I recently found out I have cancer and I was wondering if I can expedite?

I know I can always try, but I like to be sure, since I'm already 9 months in.

I assume they can't deny my application based on this unforseen illness?

Legalizing undocumented juvenile immigrant

I had a question from a member of our community. Since I came here through legal immigration they hoped I could help. I'm not sure I can but I will try.

About 3 years ago, a 14 year old boy from Honduras was left behind by his 'father' who was having him work illegally as a roofer and took all his pay.

After an argument that the homeowners got involved in, he left the boy on their doorstep.

The people took him in, sent him to school and cared for him. He is now 17 and they are looking into ways to get him a legal status.

We don't know of any US citizen (or greencard) family members and the child was not officially adopted. The 'father' that left him is probably not the father, and illegal in any case.

They do have contact with his birth mother in Honduras and she is willing to help in any way she can.

I am thinking about special immigrant juvenile classification (i360 and i485) but any advise is welcome.
