Comments : 4 July - 8 July 2025: Got in touch with the approved Dutch medical center in Amsterdam via e-mail to schedule the medical clearance. Prior to being able to make the appointment I had to showcase proof of vaccinations for DKT, BMR (MMR), Varicella and Hepatitis B. I got this in order and was able to schedule an appointment at their clinic in Amsterdam for the morning of 29 July. Pretty straight forward and easy process and all communication was via e-mail. Check ustraveldocs for up to date information regarding approved facilities for the medical examination.

29 July 2025: Medical examinations took around an hour and a half. I had to answer some general questions for administration and provide ID & four 5x5 cm passport photos. They checked my blood pressure, asked some additional general health questions, checked my vision, took an xray & a blood sample for testing. They said that my results will be sent to the embassy in Frankfurt next week.

1 August 2025: Interview date at US Embassy in Frankfurt. The interview itself went well and I came well prepared. After the interview the consulate officer let me know that besides my Dutch VOG they will also need a Police Certificate from my country of birth due to me having a right to citizenship there (I immigrated to the Netherlands as a young child & have Dutch citizenship, but I was born elsewhere). I received a 221(g) slip electronically via e-mail stating that I need to provide an additional Police Certificate.

11 August 2025: Received my Police Certificate and sent it to the US Embassy in Frankfurt via the GTSPremium service from The Netherlands. Delivered the package containing my UK Police Report to a UPS drop-off point.

13 August 2025: US Embassy in Frankfurt received & accepted the package delivered.

14 August 2025: CAEC adjusted to approved.

19 August 2025: CAEC adjusted to issued.

20 August 2025: Received UPS tracking link for visa delivery.

21 August 2025: K-1 visa on hand.

Embassy Review : I had a relatively easy process at the embassy. My appointment was at 08:00, I arrived at 07:40 to a long line that wrapped around onto the street & parking area. I eventually got to one of the two outside windows at 08:25 (time stamped on the ticket they provide you), and the lady behind the window asked for what type of visa I was here for and then stated that I only had to hand over my passport. Got the passport back with a ticket number attached and was instructed to move the second line that goes into the security building. Security was fast and efficient, but also very strict. I did not bring anything other than my two binders of documents with me to the embassy. The officers seemed to appreciate that and were friendly during our brief interaction.

After security I walked through a courtyard and into the building. There was someone to greet you inside the entrance that looked at the ticket they provided earlier and they instructed me to go sit at the immigration visa section; which is at the end of the main hall in front of window 15-21. There are few rows of plastic chairs, a restroom, and two water fountains nearby. At the other end of the hall there is a working clock. It is positioned near the front doors. I was waiting until around 09:30 until my ticket number got called up on the tv screen for the first step of the interview process.

The first time you are called to a window they want to receive and check your documents. I spoke to a kind and bubbly lady who walked through all the files with me. I was correctly prepared so no issues there and handed her both the originals and the copy that I had prepared of each document. She then asked when I was planning to move to the United States and noted down the date that I provided. She then told me that everything is in order and gave me the flyer about domestic abuse. After this I was instructed to take a seat and that I would be called up again for the interview.

I got called for my second interview at 11:40. The woman behind this counter clearly needed to be efficient and was more stern in comparison. I would describe the interview interview feeling like more of a business interaction, but she was not unkind. First off she asked for my phone number. She then went through my documents and completed the interview. I got the following questions:

- Where and when were you born?
- When did you move to the Netherlands?
- Why was your surname changed?
- When did you are your fiancé meet?
- How did you and your fiancé meet?
- Did you exchange phone numbers right away?
- What happened after that?
- How often do you visit one another?
- What does your fiancé do for work?
- Where does your fiancé live?
- Where do you plan to live in the United States?
- What do you plan to do for work?
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
