Hello everyone, I am trying to find specific information for my upcoming K1 fianc interview at the Montreal, Canada consulate. In Packet 4 it states The day of your interview, please bring original and one copy of each of the following documents (as applicable) and one item states Birth Certificate (Petitioner and Beneficiary) . I have my original birth certificate (beneficiary) and a copy, but I only have a copy of my US fianc s birth certificate. If anyone has had an interview recently or knows if I need his original and not just a copy, I d really appreciate guidance! If he has to send me his in the mail it s possible but I thought a copy was sufficient for his. Thank you!

After 19 months (applied in Dec 2021 for 485 adjustment of status based on marriage), I just got my approval notice online: On September 16, 2023, we approved your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status For those still waiting, this is after multiple "case is being actively reviewed" which was so frustrating as it had zero actual updates. I did get my combo card back in April/May 2023. Question: Will I get my SSN when I get my approval in the mail? I ask because I have been using ITIN in the meantime but it is limiting for certain things. I requested to get a SSN during the application process for 485. Good luck all and I'm rooting for everyone! Drove me insane... I did the paperwork myself too so it would've been extra devastating if I did that and didn't get approved.

Hello, Hopeful to clear the muddy waters a tad! Filed I130 for my husband , we live in Canada been married for 18 years, on Jan 2 2023. Should / Can we file the affidavit of support prior to approval of I130? I am stunned that 18yrs of marriage this process isn t smoother/faster BUT! I digress! Lol. Has anyone done this? Should we do this will it help? Thanks to anyone who responds with advice!

All of our civil and financial documents were uploaded and showed "Accepted" in CEAC; however, we then received an email saying more was needed/something was missing. We logged into CEAC and saw that it was requesting a copy of my husband's military record and police certificate - which we had already uploaded and were still marked as accepted. We uploaded again just in case the files didn't work. We also noticed that the previously submitted military record is now titled "Military Records (1st Marriage-Final Divorce Decree)" and aren't sure if that is confusing the system, since that isn't a "document type" you can select...? Since uploading on 9/7, there hasn't been any changes - and we had been getting steady movement three days in a row. Is this a common issue? Could the system still think something is missing, and still show as having outstanding documents even though they are all there? I've tried the "Ask NVC" but of course won't hear back until sometime next week or so. I'm not really sure where we stand at this point - husband is going to try calling this afternoon (I'm sure we won't get a person, but we have to try). Anyone had this happen and still get the interview letter? Or was it stuck and needed to be looked at by the NVC to get it fixed and moving again?

I just submitted my DS-260 on CEAC via my approved I-140 petition. I don't see a Civil Documents column nor an option to upload the documents. Will I be getting a letter at some point instructing me on how to send in the required documents to NVC? Or do I just have to do it proactively? The email confirmation I got just says they received my DS-260, and that everything will be reviewed together, but no instructions on when or how to send in the Civil Documents, or whether an online option will be made available at some point. I was also told that I'd have to wait for a visa to become available, however, CEAC has already asked/accepted my payment and asked me to complete the DS-260. Does that mean my visa is available or almost available? I'm EB-1, but because I was born in Hong Kong, I wasn't sure if my PD would be with China or ROW because of the Trump Executive Order. Does anyone with experience know what steps will follow?
