Getting Employment Insurance from Canada after moving to the US

A year ago when we had our initial interview appointment (before it was canceled due to the pandemic) I remember reading here about being able to apply for employment Insurance in Canada to help while you transition from Canada to the US (after moving to the US) while you are looking for a new job in the US.

Is this something that you can do? I searched but can't find anything here.

If so can anyone advise and provide any links for applying?

Thank you!

Received sealed package after K-1 Visa interview, what now?

I know that you aren't supposed to open the sealed envelope that you get once you pass the K-1 visa interview, and that it needs to be opened by the Custom's officer at your POE.

However, is this (the picture)...

  1. the sealed envelope that people are talking about?
    • If so, do I tell the CO I am travelling through a K-1 visa and simply hand them this entire package with my passport inside?
  2. Or is there another sealed envelope inside?
    • if so, can I open this to get my passport?

Thanks!

Just had my AOS Interview yesterday

Hi everyone! I've just had my AOS interview yesterday morning at the Queens USCIS office in New York City and I was approved! So happy after the 1.5 year wait.

I just wanted to share the experience here.

My hubby and I were pretty prepared. We had photocopies and originals of everything listed on the appointment letter. We also prepared photos of us, shared credit cards, health & dental insurance, etc. as evidence of our relationship.

The lady who interviewed us was super nice and gave off a really warm feeling. I was surprised when all she asked from all of our evidence that we prepared was a photo of us without our masks on. She didn't even look at any of the originals/copies of documents listed on the appointment letter. So my husband picked out a photo that had our dog in it as well and then the whole interview from there was mostly about our dog - what's her name, her breed, how old, where did we get her, etc. It was like a normal conversation among pet parents.

Then the lady wrote something in my passport about the date of interview, her name, my A-number, etc. and said should expect a letter in a couple of days. I checked my case status online and says the new card is being ordered and will be mailed soon!

I think there shouldn't be much to worry about if your relationship is bona fide. Just try to be natural and real. I do think I was quite fortunate in my case as I do read a lot of different experiences on here, some of which do seem quite a pain.

Good luck to everyone going to their interviews soon!

Visiting my fiance

While my fiance and I are awaiting the process of the k1 visa I have questions regarding traveling to and the rolling calender year.

Since my last visit years prior in the United States in 2015-

My recent visits are as follow. I entered October 9th, 2020 and left 9 days later- October 18th, 2020. I then returned December 4th and returned to Canada April 11th 2021, permitted to stay until June 3rd 2021. I still have time remaining on my 180 day allotment for Canadian citizens but due to covid regulations and having to shell out over $1200 per hotel stay, I'd rather wait until the new "reset" date is- I am curious as to the rolling year. As my date permitted in my I-94 is six months from my most recent entry in December.

Does my rolling year "reset" October 9th of 2021? I have been trying to find a visa stay calculator online but cannot find anything in regards to USA and my I-94 has confused me as my first visit would put me over six months with my first visit of 2020 being in October.

I am planning to stay with him for 180 days once the rolling year resets or until I need to return home to organize paperwork for the consulate and my K1 interview.

Thanks!

This is confusing and haven't found any answers online or within this website as per what I'm inquiring about.

Hello,

My case number is 2021AS11XXX, I sent the DS-260 last week, I am aware that it is super late in the process now, and was wondering if I should go ahead and send the documents right away now? or if I should give it some time to get the request from KCC for documents?

I would appreciate your input.

Thank you,
