US Immigration from Canada

• Copy of your government-issued identity document with photograph;
• Copy of your passport page with nonimmigrant visa;
• Copy of your passport page with your admission or parole stamp (issued by a U.S. immigration officer);
• Copy of Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record or copy of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) admission or parole stamp on the travel document (if applicable)

The above extract is from the USCIS website under what to submit for I-485.

The last 3 are pretty clear, but regarding the "Copy of your government-issued identity document with photograph" is this just asking for passport and would it be the bio pages or the entire passport? I am PR holder of Canada, now in the US on K1, hope I do not have to provide any documents like PR card of Canada for this particular item.

It seems by reading these forums that although it is supposed to happen that an SSN will be issued and mailed to you after entering the country if you checked "Yes" on ds-260, this doesn't actually work or do anything, and that 3 weeks later everyone then has to go through the process of applying in person.

I have a job interview on Thursday, and have not been able to get a bank account due to not having a SSN. More importantly, even, I am unable to get licensed under my regulated profession until I have an SSN (for various reasons).

Is it just my perception? Does anyone know of anyone who has actually received it through Ds-260 alone? I arrived just a couple days shy of 3 weeks ago and am growing impatient and stressed about it not arriving yet.

Hello, I recently got married and have applied for my SSN, which has been delayed because they have to verify my info manually. In the meantime, I wanted to prepare for AOS. I plan on changing my name, both first and last and I understand in NJ, it requires a court order. Is it okay to send in my AOS in my maiden name, and while the AOS is pending/processing, I go through with my name change? Or is it better to wait until I receive my conditional permanent residence OR green card before I change my name? In other words, will there be issues/delays if I did it during AOS pending/processing? Please let me know if anyone has been in this situation!

I'm pretty sure there are others on this site that have come across this issue- but figured I'd post to receive an answer without digging so much.

After a much delayed process I finally have my visa interview on Nov. 4th, however, because this process was so delayed, I did start a new work contract that ends Aug 24, 2022. I think I could squeeze out of it in June 2022 if I needed, but for the time being I really can't quit. I work for a Canadian NGO and it's a hybrid work model.

I am a Canadian citizen and a resident of BC. Is there anyone that after receiving their Green Card travelled between Canada and the US for work that could share their experience?

When obtaining a Ohio DL, am I able to get a full license (not permit) with a GC? I am a Canadian DL holder. I tried reading on the BMV site and it doesn't seem to specify if any tests had to be done. It only said that GC holders will be issued a regular DL.
