Hi Everyone!, Starting to think about the Affidavit of Support requirements during the immigration process for my son and me (he s 2). Our family was living together in Canada before my husband (a US Citizen) returned to the Texas, where we are looking to relocate as a family. I m the breadwinner and he was a stay-at-home dad with limited income potential beyond a pension he has access to at any time but is electing not to take until necessary for 4 more years. My employer operates in Canada and the US, and is willing to transfer me to the US office, allowing my employment to continue when we move. Two questions: 1. Does this mean that my income can be used in the affidavit of support without requiring a co-sponsor? It is well above the requirement. 2. Can my income be used as an affidavit of support for my son? Thank you!

I'm applying for I-485 and have researched extensively over the past two months and am confused about whether these things are MANDATORY, SUGGESTED, or NOT NECESSARY. I'm getting confused because in the 10+ applications I've seen in YouTube, there doesn't seem to be a consistency on what files are included in this package. On the USCIS instructions, it doesn't mention anything about photos/boarding passes for evidence, W2s, pay stubs etc. for example, but some people have included those things. 1. For the affadavit of support: a) is the 1040 sufficient for the most recent tax year or do you send in W2's as well? b) is the most recent tax year sufficient (of 1040 and/or W2) or did you include the last 2-3 years? c) are pay stubs mandatory, suggested, or not necessary at all? 2. I understand that for the interview, I will have to prove our relationship's validity, etc. but for this package, do I need to include photos, email exchanges, boarding passes, etc.? Are those things helpful or not necessary?

Hi all, I am going to be submitting petitions for my son and husband shortly and I just had a question with regards to custody. My husband is my son's biological father. I will be listing each of them on the other's application. We all currently live in Canada but I plan to move down to the US in the coming months to set things up. Since I will no longer be at the same address as my son will any custody questions come up? Obviously his father is on board as I am trying to bring them both down. I just want to know how it is looked at from NVC's perspective. Thank you!

Im visiting my partner (US citizen) in the US. We decided to get married. We were going to fly to Canada , get married and apply for the CR1 visa. but due to another wave of rising Covid (Omricon) we don't feel safe travelling. Can we get married in the US now? important details: -Me (a Canadian) and my American partner have have been living together in Canada for 11 years. He was on a student visa in Canada all these years. We are considered common law in Canada (which is the same as being married for Canada). -I have a neurological disorder so K1 visa is not an option because it restricts my travel (I need to be able to travel to Canada for my medical appointments)

I have been living in the States now for about 9 months on my CR1 visa, and we are looking into what to do to get my visa updated to the IR1 rather than the CR1. I can't find any information anywhere online, maybe I'm a bad researcher, I don't know. Anyway, if anyone has any information please help me! Like do I have to fill out all new applications? How does this process work? What government websites can I go to for help? When do we need to start the process? Thanks in advance!
