Hi all! I just recently joined the forum, but I've been referencing it for my journey to immigrate to the US to be with my spouse for the last few years. When I looked into importing my Jeep from Canada to the US, I saw a long history of forum threads here that this was an awful process, so I wanted to share my experience, and then, in the end, the fastest way to get the documentation from FCA without hassle. The Slow (if it even works) Process My first instinct was to call FCA Canada (1-800-465-2001) and ask them for the documentation, The phone agent was friendly and helpful and found an internal document in their help system to request the letter. The process she outlined was to send the VIN #, current odometer reading, a statement that it was being imported for personal use, a copy of proof of immigration, and a copy of the registration of the vehicle to a PO box in Michigan. I collected all this and mailed it off, but then found the threads here and started to feel less sure I'd ever get a response. This process might work, but I didn't wait for a reply before finding the faster way to get this done. The Quick Process Skip Canada, call FCA US directly at 1-800-247-9753, tell their voice menu that you want "something else" and provide the last 8 digits of your VIN. Someone there will answer and ask if you're calling from Canada, tell them "I am, but I'm calling FCA US intentionally. I was sent your way to open a case # with the documentation team for a compliance letter to import a vehicle from Canada to the US, and FCA Canada isn't able to do that." At that point, they asked me for my full VIN #, phone number and email address and told me someone would get back to me in a day or two. Compliance Letter seems to be their name for it and knowing that made asking for it a very fast process. I was sent an email from someone at FCA 2 days later asking for: Quote -A copy of the Canadian vehicle registration showing the name and license plate number of the individual importing this vehicle. -Proof of immigration, such as: a copy of a visa, passport, or a letter with an offer of employment. -A Email address to send the original copy of the response. -Current odometer reading. In reply, I sent a single PDF with a copy of my NOA2 and Interview Confirmation, a letter from an employer that wants to hire me once I move to the US, a copy of my registration and this cover letter Quote FCA Customer Assistance Center I m writing to request a Compliance Letter for my 20XX Jeep _______ with VIN ______________. I will be moving from Canada to the United States and have attached proof of document confirmation from the US DOS, as well a copy of an employment offer to evidence this. The import is for my own personal use as part of my permanent move to the US, not for business, and not for resale. Also attached is a copy of my vehicle registration. The odometer reading as of the writing of this letter is _____ KM. My intended move date is ___, and your speedy response to this request would be deeply appreciated. Please email the letter to ___@____.___. If you require any additional information, please don t hesitate to call _____ (home) or _____ (cell) or email ___@____.___. Thanks for your attention and reply, After sending this back to their email, I received the compliance letter back in under 2 hours by email! Country of Origin Some folks have also been looking for documentation for where their vehicle was assembled for import under NAFTA/USMCA. I found you can get this by going to https://windowstickerlookup.com/ and entering your VIN. You'll get the original window sticker for your vehicle, and the "Assembly Point/Port of Entry" will appear at the bottom above the VIN barcode. In my case, my Jeep was assembled in Mexico. I'll be taking this with me at the POE when crossing as additional evidence if needed. I hope this helps other FCA vehicle owners out there! I'll post an update after I actually move down with how the import process went at the POE.

Hi everyone. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I had a question that I hope people here can help me with. I'm currently a conditional permanent resident, with a green card based on my marriage to my husband (U.S. citizen). In December we are going to apply to have the conditions removed (form I-751), since my conditional green card expires in March 2023. We got legally married in December 2019 but only got the green card in March 2021. The somewhat tricky thing is that we are both teachers, and our job situations mean that I need to live and work in a different state from him during the academic year, starting in August. I will be teaching at a University in Ohio and he will be continuing to teach in Minnesota. We have established our residency in Minnesota. Both our names are on the lease here and so what we are thinking is that we will maintain this address as the permanent address for both of us and I will just have a temporary (non-domicile) address in Ohio. He intends to move to Ohio with me after one more year in Minnesota. Do I need to change my address with USCIS even if I'm keeping my primary address here in Minnesota with him? (That will be the primary address still for taxes, drivers license, etc.). I think they should understand that it's somewhat common for couples to work in different states right? Especially in academia. Thank you for your help!

Hello, I got my green card in Nov 2018 but moved to US officially in Feb 2019. I've been there since then with no trips but recently I had to visit my home country for some work related item. I run my own company with employees and clients in US but have to stay in my home country for some further business. I am eligible to apply for Citizenship next year. My question is since my number of days are complete and I've a lease, insurance , car etc in US, as long as I keep on visiting before 6 months, I should be fine for applying for citizenship ? What other precautions should I keep to avoid any trouble ? I can spend 4-5 months before citizenship application in the US if that's required but there is a potential gap of 12 months where I be living outside. Just wondering if it's okay to visit once every 6 months.

Hi everyone, our interview's coming up in a few weeks and I'm just gathering all the documents that we need. I noticed on Montreal's "Pre-Interview Checklist", it says: - Your original birth certificate and that of your petitioner if applicable, English translation, and a photocopy.
I don't recall submitting our petitioner's birth certificate or a copy of it to NVC at all. We're in the F3 family based category, and I'm pretty sure we submitted a copy of my petitioner's US naturalization certificate. Do we actually need to bring the original birth certificate? Thanks.

Husband and I had the interview today at field office in Houston. He took our IRS joint filing and tax return, joint lease, joint car insurance. At the end of the 15 minute interview, he proceeded to give us marriage advice and said that our card will be delivered in 2-3 weeks. He also explained that it is conditional and we would need to remove conditions since we're under 2 years of marriage. He also went on about how hubby could apply for citizenship in 3 years. So we thought we were approved. Then he gave us the results of the interview: He gave us the interview results that say: Your case is being held for review. At this time USCIS does not require further evidence or documents from you. Should further information or documents be required, you will receive a notice in the mail. We may also schedule you for another interview, you will receive a notice in the mail. Otherwise, a final decision will be mailed once your case is complete. Anyone have insight? Are there no direct approvals for under 2 years of marriage? Thanks Kierra
