Hi, I wanted to see if anyone can clarify some questions I have about the NVC/Consular stage for a marriage based visa. My husband is my sponsor and we filed the I-130 which was approved in May 2022, it was then forwarded to the NVC and we submitted all of the required documents in June. When we submitted our I-864 paperwork, my husband was employed and his annual income covered the threshold needed to sponsor me, but he has since lost his job, and due to some personal things going on in his life, he may not be able to find another job before the interview. His income has been cut off, so now he will not make enough this year to sponsor me on his own. His mother lives at the same residence as him and we saw that you can combine a household member's income so that together it covers the threshold. What I'm wondering is can I bring an updated I-864 and I-864a plus all the required docs for both of them to the interview and can they make a decision on the spot based off that, or will they require me to wait to process it further, and will I have to do another interview because our situation has changed? Also wondering if it is acceptable that my husband will be unemployed by the time I get to my interview. Is he required to be employed even if he is combining his current income with his mom's? Thanks for your help!

My husband and I are planning to go to Mexico and I am still an Indian passport holder and permanent resident of the USA(2 years green card), initially came on K1. Questions: -Would it be okay upon entry to the States to have Indian passport in maiden name and PR card in married name along with having the marriage certificate? -Anyone with similar situation, did you require any visa for Mexico or any tourist card? From what I read online, visa is not required for green card holders but says about having a tourist card. Is tourist card same as FMM and is it to be filled online or in the flight? Wanted to check if someone has more details.

On 7/13/2022 at 9:26 AM, ToddD said: See attached what she will be requesting today. It is a limited Temporary Passport for this situation where her original (and still active) passport is stuck with another country visa office for processing and need to travel during that time. Obviously she wouldn't need this if the MTL consulate was responding to a simple additional document to process for us. It's now week 5 waiting for MTL with no updates about how much longer it will take. Here is an update for anyone that has a visa / passport stuck at the consulate and they must travel. You can get a temporary passport. Cost is about $200 CAD. Be prepared to spend many hours at the passport office and also be prepared for the staff there not knowing what you're talking about. You'll need to be polite but push for what is allowed to get the temp passport and when you get your original back with the visa in it to do a exchange, where the original passport with the visa in it is activated again (only one passport can be active at a time) and surrender the temp passport. - Ask for a temporary passport application, because your current passport is "Inaccessible" (official term is Inaccessible Passport)
- You can get a temp passport if you prove your current passport is stuck at a foreign consulate for processing AND you must travel
- Show proof of your passport being stuck in processing with the consulate and also proof that you have corresponded with them about the delays.
- Show proof of upcoming travel
- Bring an original birth certificate and proof of your identity
- Fill-out an application for a temporary passport (might be the same as a regular passport, but make sure they file it properly)
- Provide a guarantor (my wife used her adult daughter that is not living with her). The agent will call.
- Provide 2 references that are friends that can vouch for you. The agent will call them.
- If travel is urgent, the passport can be made within a couple of days, so show proof that you must pick it up in time for travel.
- Once you pick-up the temp passport, make sure there is a stamp/sticker inside that shows that it is a temp passport (the cover won't say it).
- I heard the temp passport is good for one year, not just for this specific travel date.
- When you arrive at the border, bring your proof of travel, proof of needing the temp passport, and of course your temp passport.
- In our case, the USA agent didn't ask for anything other than the passport and didn't say anything or ask about it, but that's no guarantee.
- When you finally receive your original passport with the visa, go to the passport office again
- Request that you need to surrender your temp passport and have the original activated again.
- You cannot carry two passports (from what we were told), so you need to activate one and surrender the other.
- You might need to push that you're not applying for anything new and all the agent needs to do is accept your temp passport and activate the original. My wife had to push a little about the urgency of this swap, because the initial staff wanted her to wait in the long application line all day. This wasn't necessary.
- My wife stood with the agent while the original was being activated again on the screen. It takes about 30 minutes for the system to process the swap, but it will be fairly quick (not hours or days).

I have never heard of this before. I just received a SSN in the mail, but I don't remember applying. I am still in Canada, and expect to be crossing in a few weeks. What actually triggers the SSN application? I thought it was something that was triggered when I got the IR-1 endorsed.

Hello All, I just got a mail asking me to submit a Request for Evidence for I751 Application. I submitted the application Feb 2019 when I was going through my divorce. The i751 was was based on battery and/or extreme cruelty. Meanwhile, I applied for N400 on the basis of VAWA at the 3 year mark of obtaining the G.C. and while i751 is still pending. Please note that I used the same battered/cruelty evidences that I used for my i751for my N400. I was invited for interview in early July, and the USCIS asked me to talk about the abuse, I talked about it for a while, and I found my self shaking, and almost hugging my suitcase it seems I was relieving the episodes all over again. I apologized and told the officer that all the evidences are there in my file. She proceeded to do the N400 interview which actually brought me out of the relieving the trauma again. 3 weeks later I got the request for more evidence. I have given all the evidences that I have namely, 3 police reports(one for when I was locked out of the house, another for throwing an object at me inuring my eye and another for stealing my property) , the Radiologist picture of trauma to the back of my head, Urologist report showing scare tissue in my male anatomy, Psychologist Report that the radiologist sent me to seek counseling and Receipt of Cab that I took to work, on the day she seized my car keys thereby preventing me to go to work. The Psychologist advised me to move out of the house, that it was not safe for me to continue to live there. Upon learning that I was told to leave the house, she went and file for divorce. My ask is can I resubmit the same evidences again, perhaps a lawyer's submission of the same evidences with Lawyer's explanation? Please let me know what additional evidence that I should submit.? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Canadaex
