Not in my case. We dealt with the Embassy in Nicaragua. Ours was sealed with no opening. I wonder what others have experienced?

The package must 'breathe'.... :star:

To the OP - just to clarify - the envelope you're referring to is indeed the one that says "Do Not Open" correct? (I know that may sound obvious but have seen people not open the envelope sent to them from the Embassy/Consulate at all - not realizing their passport and visa were inside and that there was yet another envelope inside.)

Seems to be normal procedure for some consulates.

Apparently, Manila does this too. Read paragraph 6.1 in the first post in this thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=129059

I've read on other forums that the reason for the cut out is to allow them to staple an outer cover sheet to the inside sheets without having to open the envelope.

Heya all,

Mine's the same too... there's a triangular shape cut off at the right hand upper corner. We just can't break the seal at the stamped part at the back, that's from what I know :)

Yes, yes, I opend the big envelope, and found a piece of paper with the information for the Visa and the AOS, my passport with included Visa and the brown envelope which says that I am not allowed to open.

Thanks to everyone for their answers. Now I am relieved that this is "normal"... even though it seems strange. My first thought was "Do they wanna get me into trouble on purpose at the POE?" :jest:
