So here is my interview story:
I got to the consulate shortly after 9:00 am (my appointment was set for 9:30 am). I had to wait 15 minutes in front of the reception, got my waiting number and had to wait another 15 minutes until I was able to go through security. Everything went smooth since I did not bring any electronic devises what so ever.
If one needs to store stuff like that, one can go to the little kiosk not far from the consulate (it is located at the intersection of giessenerstrasse and marbachweg, near the “underground” station), they have lockers one can rent. Im not sure how much it costs, I left my stuff in a locker at the main train station and payed 2 euros.
After I made it inside I had to smoke a cigarette in the designated smoking area, to calm down a little bit, I was really nervous!
Once in the consulate building, a nice lady wanted to see my ticket and then showed me where to sit down.
I waited for about 10 minutes and got called to counter number 23. There, I had to hand in my passport, one of my waiting number receipts and the proof of payment for the visa fee. The lady then gave me a big envelope and told me to put the stamps on there and self-address it to me, and a slip that stated in what order I should hand in the documents from the checklist at the next counter. I sat back down, got my documents in the right order and prepared the envelope.
Another 20 minutes later, I was called to counter number 20. I had to give him the envelope and then the documents from the checklist. Then I had to sign form I-156 in his presence. After I did that he asked me if there are any changes in terms of the information I submitted. So I told him that my fiance recently moved and changed his cellphone number. He scratched out the old info and I had to write the new address and number down. Then he told me that he will give my documents to the consul and once he is done looking through them, I will be called to a third window. He also explained how the visa will look like,the procedure at the port of entry and the sealed envelope…..
I sat down again and waited for my actual interview. My number got called about 30 minutes later, counter 17. The consul asked if I swear that all the information I gave him is correct and true and made me sign a paper stating that too. After that he took my fingerprints (I wonder why they want the left and right pionter finger). I was ready for all the questions that can be asked and also to get out the proofs of relationship. He then asked me how I met my fiance and I told him. He looked through my stuff once again and then said that everything is ok and that I will get my visa within one week. I was totally confused and asked: that’s it? And he said yes and told me to have a nice day……
The first thing I did afterwards, was going to the bathroom, I had to pee pretty bad but didn’t have the heart to do so while I was waiting. In the bathroom I started crying cause I was so reliefed and I didn’t think it would be that easy.
All in all I can say that the consulate in Frankfurt is amazing, everybody is so nice and helpful, so theres really nothing one should worry about!
The waiting area is air conditioned, they have vending machines with snacks and drinks, a copying machine (try not to use it, its 50 euro cents a copy!) and two photo booths if your passport style pictures are correct.
