I have those days too. I usually try to make contact with my fiance on those days. Hearing his voice helps me re:focus. Maybe give a call or right a sappy email. That's always fun. Sometimes I'll even go shopping and make one of those "I love you" care packages with Hershey's kisses and Blue Mountain cards and mail it out. Having a "project" to focus on that involves him somehow makes me feel better. I hope you find a way to lift your spirits.

Sorry, thanks. I was asked about some "trick" people were referring to when they call the center. I think the "RFE trick" or something. I was wondering what that meant so I could try it.

Sorry Steph.

I must have missed your posts too. Sorry it has been really difficult for you. But we will all get through it together. We all know how hard this process is and what it can do to us. I have found myself crying for the samllest stupidest reasons but after I cry I feel better. Or, I call my fiance and we just talk it out and that seems to help.

Here is the RFE trick.

1-800-375-5283, 1, 2, 2, 4, 2, 1, case number, 1, 1.

It will transfer you to your service center according to whether your case number starts with EAC (VSC) or WAC (CSC) and just say something along the lines of "Is there a problem with my application" or "I think I have an RFE". Some people will give you info others won't...it just depends on who you get.

Good luck!!!!

I think an "RFE TRICK" is when you call the USCIS and pretend that you have a question about your application. More in the vein of saying " I recieved an RFE notice and want to know what documents i need to fix this"...

It's something along the lines as that. ii havent yet tried it because im a september filer, but i assure you once december comes around i'll be doing it all the time..lol..

This info and prompt list from Byron will save you phone time since you may have to call several times before you are connected to the service center...if at the end of the prompts a message tells you there are no officers available to take your call you will be transferred to the national call center (this is a waste of time) just hang up and keep trying to get an officer...it took me about 20 tries.

Scott

Call 1-800-3755283

Listen for the choices and follow these steps ...i other words for the first choice press 1, second choice press 2, then 2, then 4, then 2, then 1, then put in your case number ( EAC AND THE NUMBER OR WAC AND THE NUMBER) then 1, and last 1....the last one will connect you with a live operator...then you say you are calling to inquire about the RFE ( request for evidence ) you got, baically you want to know what they are looking for. They will probably say that they havent issued one and thats when you ask what is the status of your case...say some dumb things like..." someone told me that after a certain amount of time waiting it meant that i have an RFE" or " My lawyer told me i had an RFE" say anything to make them think that you are not playing a trick on them.

Good luck!!!!

The best advice is to show our displeasure with the system by writing letters to raise awareness and help improve the process. In addition to the five I mailed out the other day, I have also written my congresswoman and two state senators. Don't just sit by and take it lying down, believing that your voice doesn't matter. It only takes a few minutes and at least you will be one of many of us who are trying to make a difference. Best of luck to all of you in getting your loved one with you ASAP. Edited by Bill B
