Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

1 RepliesHi Everyone,
Looking to see if anyone else is having issues with getting the embassy to respond to email questions. My fianc is the Irish citizen and we are going through the K-1 visa process and we are getting towards the end of the validity period for his i-797. It expires 5/29/2024 but the medicals are booked up and he couldn't get an appointment until 6/14/2024. The only time they answered us was when they said that the i-797 can be extended once they receive the notice of readiness, but the documents they included in the email say that the notice of readiness can't be sent until he has the medical exam results. This whole thing is making no sense to us and we really need help. Anyone out there who can help us out? Thanks in advance!

1 RepliesChecking my I130 petition today on the USCIS site. Case Status page says 4 weeks until completion. Then checked the Documents tab and found the I130 approval letter. Point: Always check the document tab when checking the status.

1 RepliesHubby and I are getting ready to file I-751, and I m getting a bit nervous about everything cause I am a massive worrier lol.
I am wondering how you organize the documents and package them up. Do you organize the paperwork into various folders? Should you staple the documents if there are numerous pages or do you just leave them loose? This sounds so silly, but I don t know how to even start lol. Last time, we filed with a lawyer who did everything for us (and was our absolute hero), but he told us this process is fairly simple, and so we thought we would try filing on our own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give some feedback on the evidence we will be submitting. So far, our file will include:
Two years of jointly filed taxes
Two years of bank statements
About a year and a half of joint utilities (just electric bill cause gas company wouldn t let me add him)
Travel itineraries for this and last year s anniversary trip
Hubby s pension with me listed as beneficiary
PicturesTwo affidavits, one from my dad and one from my aunt
Christmas cards from family addressed to both of us
Joint credit card accounts
Joint auto insurance
We don t own or rent any property, because we live in the apartment upstairs from my father while I finish my degree and hubby works/studies for licensing exams. So no evidence there. Does everything else seem pretty solid though?? I m so anxious. Lol. I am the US citizen, btw.

2 RepliesI have my interview next month, and in preparation I'm wondering what the time post-interview but pre-oath is like.
- Will I have my green card until I take the oath?
- Assuming I pass the interview, what is my "immigration status" before the oath - am I still considered a PR?
- Do you get documentation stating that you passed the interview?
- After I take the oath, can I travel outside the US before getting a US passport, or will that make re-entry tricky? I would be traveling to Canada.
Thank you!
