PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1."  The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!).  I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!

Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before....  I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago.  We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"

Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

Ok, I've interviewed successfully for a B2 visitor visa a couple of years ago in my home country. I brought all police records available to me. Both the one issue I had in my home country that was punished as a "disturbance of the peace". However, the other crime is a CMT and from the U.S. I did speak to a lawyer prior to the visa interview where they told me that it is important to fully disclose this while setting up the appointment and during the appointment.

The interviewer (extremely nice guy) asked me the standard questions, then asked me about my criminal past. I handed over everything I brought with me, both what I had happened in the U.S. and in my own country. After a few very nervous moments he asked me with the papers in hand, "Is this it?" which I replied "Yes". I was expecting a denial based on this but was granted a visitor visa.

However, in a year or two I'm going to get married to a U.S. citizen and relocate to the U.S., but me being my nervous self I have googled and googled about my single CMT and have come across all visa types, including the visitor visa. I read that a CMT would basically be an automatic denial to my visitors visa, so now I'm worried if he ever even looked at both or just glanced over them.

So now, I'm afraid the eventual green card interviewer will ask me how I got a visitors visa with a CMT? And then think I withheld information from my interview, which I did not. I knew they'd finger print me (which they did) and would find out and I didn't want to misrepresent myself as the lawyer said it could lead to a permanent bar from the U.S.

Does anyone think this could be an issue? I mean, I brought all my documents with me knowing full well they'd run my fingerprints. Yet somehow, I got a visitors visa without hassle in spite of having a CMT offense (non aggravated burglary) and this is worrying me to no end.

Thank you all for your time.

I recently filed an I-129F last month. It is still at the NOA1 stage. My beneficiary is moving later this week (still in her home country) and I was wondering if her address needed to be updated? I have heard different things saying she can wait until she completes the DS-160 and others saying to update it online. Every effort in contacting USCIS has been unsuccessful on getting a clear cut answer.

    Hello,

I filled an I-130 for my father in April 2024. USCIS Approved the case On November 2025. The case is sent to NVC. then, I received an email from NVC Stated that "The U.S Embassy in Port-au-Prince has suspended all operation and you cannot continue your visa process in Haiti at this time. the U.S Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas is the designated processing post for nationals of Haiti. You may request to change your interview appointment location to U.S Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas. If you are a resident of another country, you may request to interview at another U.S Embassy or Consulate that processes immigrant visas."

Does a Haitian used the U.S embassy in Nassau, Bahamas. or any advices will help.

    Thank you,
