When awaiting case complete

Quick question. When you guys were waiting for the 'case complete' message - when you spoke to an actual live operator at NVC, were they able to tell you it was under final review or anything?

Or, did they just say something like - well we have everything - just wait a 8-10 weeks.

I guess I'm wondering if it is worth my while to even call them and see if anything is happening with our file.

thanks

I kept calling the NVC everyday right after I sent the DS-230, which was the final documentation they needed. It took about 2 weeks for the automated message to say "Your case has been completed" and I never spoke to a live person about it.

Case complete, we're trying to schedule the interview now ...

Is the interview scheduled before the file is transferred to the embassy? Does the type of processing (apt./std.) impact the process?

From what I've seen here, under standard processing (which is rare now), the file is transferred to the embassy immediately and then the embassy sends out packet 3, and after you return packet 3 to the embassy, then the interview is scheduled and packet 4 is sent by the embassy with the appointment notice.

From what I understand, for appointment processing (the new standard), it seems the file is held at NVC until the interview is scheduled, and then the file is transferred to the embassy at the same time packet 4 is sent out by NVC with the appointment notice.

Good luck to you too talk! Ok, I'm going to call the operator. I'm just wondering if when they are doing the actual final review if the Live operator actually says that.

If it hasn't moved along today I'm going to ask them to escalate it.

Ok well I spoke with the slightly grouchy operator and she said 'it is under review' and I said is there any way to tell if they are actually looking at it now or if it is still just sitting there.

She said 'there is no way to tell if it is physically in their hands right now'.

That was sarcastic - but not helpful :hehe:

Don't worry, just keep calling every day until you hear "case complete". Calling every day made me feel better even if some people thought it was sick and obsessive.
