I feel like there is a lot of fear mongering on the internet right now due to Trump's changes. I simply want to know if the CR1 visas are still being approved at this moment in time? Or if anything has ground to a halt? We are hoping to submit our CR1 in February 2026.

Of course they are.  Nobody in the administration has ever even hinted of any changes to impact the immigration of spouses of US Citizens.

Hi. Thank you. Someone online said 3 lawyers had told them that they are not being processed. It seems like a crazy thing to lie about but then you do get some weird people online. It put so much fear into me.

First, "Trump's changes" for legal immigration processes so far just seem to be actually following the laws on the books that seem to have been very loosely or not followed at all by previous administrations, by both Democrats and Republicans. Second, if I had a nickel for every lawyer who has given me bad advice, both personally and online, I would be laying on my yacht in the South Pacific asking the steward for my next margarita. Third, "some weird people online" .... almost everyone online is weird and are looking to say the most outrageous things to get clicks, likes and views, which eventually is monetized content for them. Now, will the government shutdown cause some delays, maybe. However, this process is funded by all the fees we pay, so I don't believe it will come to an absolute standstill.

I think the person you heard this from might be thinking of K-1s, which have been paused for some countries.

Yes, CR-1/IR-1s are still being approved by consulates.

Thank you. Looking at other forums they appear to be getting approved still so it definitely confused me.

I would encourage you to submit as soon as possible if you are married.

"Someone online" is a very well known source of misleading information.  Senior members  here are not "someone online".
